My mom worked with a guy who had video game addiction and he got fired because he wouldn’t show up to work. Mind you, they were working at a high level government job as software engineers. This was around 20 years ago too.
However, just like with sex, majority of people who indulge in video games do not have an addiction. Its just entertainment to them which there is nothing wrong with having fun.

For example, Smoking is bad for your health and Tobacco companies posture was that it was people choice, but at the end it was determined that it was inmoral not to warn people about consequences, so Tobacco companies were forced to label their products warning people about consequences, and on top of that taxes were raised on cigarettes to deter people from buying them and help people that had been affected by smoking. Therefore, whenever someone access Only Fans a Label must be visible all the time warning people that there are negative consequences from watching it and Only Fans must be heavily taxed to help people affected by Only Fans.

When people stop caring their neighbors and become so self involved that they think what they’re doing doesn’t affect the lives of others at all, when they’re very much accessible to more than just their friend group, I think it just goes down hill from there. There has been a lot of studies shown in the past that prove the fact that a lot of women that are in the sex industry, come from a background of trauma or troubled childhoods. There are exceptions of course of some women just being hypersexual and comfortable with themselves on screen, but the high majority get into sex industry due to trauma from their past. Men on the other hand might not have the same kind of troubled past as the women, but there is something definitely not normal with being unable to pursue to a regular healthy relationship with someone. and instead spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on a person online so they could get some assemblance of human connection in their life. Because loneliness hurts and if they cannot get the real thing, they would rather accept the fake thing. There is something internally wrong with that. It just happens to be that the women gain monetary value, but lose social credibility. Men lose monetary resource, and gain false companionship. It is all sad and unfortunate, it is all a vortex of unsettled psychological troubles. It is all Bill Clinton's fault! ;)
