Yes it's true in many restaurants doesn't have original paneer. I have audited the manufacturer in maharashtra their wholesale price is 250 for normal paneer and 280 for Malai paneer. But I saw many distributors are selling the paneer below 200. How it is possible? Where is transportation cost and distributor margin? Paneer recovery from milk is approx. 20-23 % that means near to 5 ltr of milk required to produce 1 kg of paneer. 5 ltr x rs. 46 = 230 rs. Then how they are selling it below rs. 200? It's highly impossible.

When I went back to my room later, I just got so sick that I thought i had gotten food poisoning. I had to puke out all of that food since it made my stomach a mess. So just make sure and be careful of what you are eating outside, since not everything being sold is legit.

My father is a milk retailer we have our own shop of retailing. some time ago i went to delhi and to a restaurant and tasted same as paneer pakode and chilli paneer as soon i ate it my father replied litterally in 2 second . Then he gave me a same explaination . But as we make paneer at our shop with pureness so we know the taste of original pure paneer if u ever go delhi at delhi station never eat at near resturant. As a person who know milk and dairy sector very very closely Never ever think you are eating Milk Products that are not branded (sometime branded too). The 70 to 80% milk is directly consumed without any process. The leftover is passed to big dairies and brands for their products. Small nameless companies use so many chemicals and different things like palm oil to fill up the demand of cheap paneer. Its always good to eat 500 rupee dish and have surety rather than 120 rupee dish of god know what is inside

But both tastes have so huge difference, tofu nowhere has that milk taste of paneer
Soya paneer tastes different from normal paneer.
