Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a female fronted symphonic metal band. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley who is a multi-instrulmentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now still is. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen. (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. I discovered them about 3 years ago. I saw them in concert in March in the US. They are unbelievable live. Their music has gotten me through some tough times. Live songs are actually better than album versions. Been to many concerts in the rock/metal genre and Nightwish was live insane. They are not popular in North America. Honestly probably only like 3000 at the venue I was at which was awesome. Discovered them about a year ago and hands down my favorite group now. I am also a huge Megadeth fan but these guys are incredible.

I think I was 7 when the Beatles went “viral” of course to say viral wasn’t a term then but that is what a way to describe them now. Your are awesome for just throwing that out there. Trust me, growing up at a time to be a witness to music’s evolution, certainly was so special. I wouldn’t trade my age with a 20 year old now because I would loose four decades of awesome bands. They are my favorite band because of the diversity in their music. They also have deep meaningful lyrics which is incredibly rare these days and musically always on point with their instruments. You ordered their most recent album which is the only current album with Floor Jansen as lead vocalist. I personally love thier last five albums. Floor Jansen has elevated the bands chemistry and stage presence she is my favorite vocalist especially live. Anette Olzen was the previous vocalist and was actually pretty good on the two albums Dark Passion Play and Imaginareum. But you will not find a professional quality concert like this one of them with Annette Olzen. Tarja Turunnen was their first vocalist she was even more operatic and was exceptional on the two albums Once and Century Child and the live End of an Era Concert.
Tarja : Angels falls first, Oceanborn,Over the Hills and far Away ,Wishmaster, Once ,Century Child,Tales from Elevenpath - End of an Area is a Best oft Concert a Last Live with her. Stoped listen to them with Imaginarium. The Style fully chanched at Endless Forms most beautyful, the sound has become more Pop and likebale for the mass. I first heard of them in 2003 fallen in Love with them Instantly. But Floor Jansen is a frikin awesome singer Tarja later startet her Solo Career and shes pretty good and popular , I recomend to Listen to : i walk away
I think they finally have a vocalist with range to match the genius that is compositions by Tuomas Holopainen. Also if you watch any of Floors interviews she is such a humble and nice person it is not even funny. :D

I'm not sure where your tastes lie in general. Nightwish has a wide variety of songs and styles. They have harder stuff like Romanticide, Song of Myself and Ghost River from this same Waken 2013 show and they have softer ballads like The Islander (Tampere 2015), While Your Lips Are Still Red (Wembly 2016) both of those are actually sang mostly by Marco (the bassist) and Sleeping Sun (Tampere 2015) sang by Floor Jansen the female vocalist you see here in this video and by their first female vocalist Tarja Turunen either on the Oceanborn album, official music video or live in their End Of An Era show in Helsinki Finland. Then they have many songs that fit somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. I really love their latest album Endless Forms Most Beautiful. You can find those songs performed live (which is always my recommendation because they're just so good live!) in their Tampere 2015 and Wembly 2016 shows with great audio mixes. I lean towards the Tampere 2015 show because I feel Floor's vocals come through a little better. Hope you enjoy your Nightwish exploration journey!

I first heard Nightwish in May 2005 and immediately went out to buy their albums - within 2 months I bought their whole back catalogue, and everything since on release. This was when Tarja was the singer and their sound was unique. Floor is able to take those Tarja era songs and turn them into her own, her voice is so versatile. Nightwish was my introduction to the world of symphonic metal, and really opened my eyes to the wide variety of music that metal has to offer.

I've seen Nightwish live 3 times... 2x with Tarja, once with Anette. I MUST SEE FLOOR LIVE ASAP!!! Been following them since 1999 and I was A huge FAN. When the first singer was ''kicked out'' I was really sad and kinda stop following them after seeing them live with Anette. She isn't bad AT ALL, but she didn't really fit... she couldn't do ANY of the old stuff... And her vocal ''stamina'' wasn't that great... like you noticed a difference between the beginning of the show and the end. Now.. FLOOR JANSEN... O-M-F-G... She made me fall back in love with Nightwish like on day 1. I recommend you to review THE POET AND THE PENDULUM from Wembley (I think?)... checking my stuff :P Yeah It's that one. THIS SONG is very very very special to the composer Tuomas (the keyboardist). It about when they kicked the first singer out... and the media and fan went out on him BAD! (I did too... sorry Tuomas). He went VERY low... and was ''saved'' by his parents. You have to review this one. (and btw... you are the first channel I EVER subscribe to :P).
If you actually did buy that album at the end if the video, you sir deserve some credits! If only everyone would support their favourite band just simple as you did, the world would already be better.. Nightwish is one of my favourite bands i listen to and to be honest that live performance gave me tears in my eyes. In my opinion, the Holy Trinity is composed by Ghost Love Score, The poet and the pendulum, and The greatest show on earth. And the best choice you could have made is the whole Wacken concert : Showtime, Storytime. But you can't be wrong with any album.

Their last album with Foor Endless Form Most Beautiful is a great album, one of the few albums I have bought where every song is a masterpiece, every song absolutely amazing music, usually there is always one song on an album you don´t like, but not on this album. This concert is one of the best, so check out Song Of Myself, Romanticide, Bless The Child, anything fom this show, and we Nightwish fans will show up here :)

The one you just did, The poet and the pendulum live at wembley and the greatest show on earth live at tampere. You should do 4-5 other Songs between them😊 makes you able to enjoy them more and will keep us waiting a little👍 i would suggest weak fantasy live at tampere as your next song. Thats a newer song. Its a Heavy song but stil epic like all Nightwish Songs are 😁 and its a song made for Floor Jansen (the singer you just listened to) that is their third and most awsome singer 😊

Nice! If you're gonna buy Nightwish albums, I'd start with Showtime, Storytime and/or Vehicle of Spirit. Those are the concert CDs and Nightwish is just better live. Good choice on the one you went with, though. That's their most recent and is the only studio album with Floor (the singer you heard in this video) on it. To answer the favorite song/album question, though, for me favorite Nightwish song is The Poet and the Pendulum and favorite Nightwish album is Imaginaerum.
Great review. Nice to hear you comment on the interaction between the bandmembers. Such a small thing can make a world of difference in a live performence. I'll take a band that's having fun on stage over a band that is 'at work' any day. If you're wondering what can be better then Floor Jansen, the answer is a collaboration between Simone Simons and Floor Jansen. So I recommend Epica - Sancta Terra (live retrospect tour).
Floor singing Ghost Love Score is like seeing and hearing a 1966 Cobra ACR or a 1967 Ford Mustang GT500, aka "Eleanor." No matter how many times you see and hear it, you never get tired of it, it never gets old. Nightwish is to metal what Carol Shelby or Boyd Coddington is to old classic cars.
Congrats on breaking 250 subs:) About Nightwish suggestions for possible future reactions (to add to the tally of all other comments): - Romanticide (Live at Waken 2013 for preference) - This is one of the more 'heavy metal sounding' songs they have (and the guitarist gets to show off with a more complex and slightly longer solo intermission) - Phantom of the opera (End of an era live) - This is on the other hand, one of the most explicitly (and intentionally) operatic sounding songs from the 'earlier career' of the band (featuring their first singer, Tarja) - Poet and the pendulum - This is one of their more complex songs, with several parts/chapters with drastically different 'styles/moods' and a particularly relevant 'back-story' for the fans of the band and for the keyboard player (main composer). - Greatest show on earth (Live at Tampere) - since you bought the album this is on, you'll already be familiar with the track, but this is the longest and most heavily produced song they made up to now, so it should be at least mentioned:) Cheers!
You're going to get a ton of requests for a standard set of performances (Romanticide, Song of Myself, Poet and the Pendulum, Greatest Show on Earth). Others have suggested good songs. My two fav albums from this band: 1.) -98 "Oceanborn". Original operatic singer, Tarja. Music pretty much power metal, lots of riffs and solos. Less orchestral, but keyboards present 2.) And then maybe this latest which you purchased (EFMB) Floor on vocals + multi-instrumentalist Troy Donockley adds flavor. Diverse symphonic songs - folk songs, heavy songs, uplifting songs and last one over 20-minute monster. But all albums are high level stuff :)
their first 3 albums were almost power metal. some great concerts too. i think the melkweg show from the netherlands might be the most readily available.
Yes Wacken Germany 2013 is a great concert but also please react to songs from Wembley Arena London and Live from Tampere Finland that is my personal favorite. story time, weak Fantasy and shudder before the beautiful. And please wait a while before you react to the greatest show on earth live it is epic beyond conceivable proportions. I also recommend looking up lyrics to fully appreciate this living vehicle of spirit that Thomas and the band creates.

So many good songs to check out from ALL 3 of the singers! Try doing an evolution of the band starting with Tarja (pronounced Tar-ya) to Annette then back to Floor (this/current singer) There's so much more to love with their music!
I love watching live performances. You get to see how performers handle audiences. Floor had them eating out of her hand for this whole song. Iwish I'd been able to see them when they came to Minneapolis a couple years ago. Every note, every gesture, perfect. No waste. In front of 80,000 people.

If you are going to suggest The Greatest Show on Earth ... you should at the very least mention that a) it's 24 minutes of absolute epic... and b) it is THE Nightwish MASTERPIECE. ;)
agree. i think the two best composed albums were the ones with the vocalist with the least amount of range. tuomas had to write without a crutch of a stunning vocalist.
Great reaction and man that didn't take long to nail you as a fan. They are a very diverse band with songs that are fun, thoughtful and inspiring. I suggest that you get the Wacken 2013 DVD and enjoy the entire concert. This is a LIVE band and that is one of the best concerts I have seen in the last 40+ years. The other advantage to the DVD is you will get a real broad spread of the different types of songs that they are capable of. Floor Jansen the lead singer is their 3rd and she has really electrified the fan base and added to it. She is a 6'1" dynamo who can sing high opera to rock, pop and even metal growls. These are top notch musicians who love playing on stage with each other and really fed off a crowd no matter the venue and Floor commands the crowd from start to finish!! Any song from the Wacken show is great so go ahead and jump in. The fan base is very passionate so if you find something you don't like please don't take the comments personally this fan base responds to criticism immediately loud and clear. Some other symphonic bands you should check out are Within Temptation, Epica, Delain and some others. You will notice that all of these bands are fronted by Dutch women who can sing LIVE like nothing else and they are good friends and often end up doing duets and other projects beside their bands. Look forward to the journey. Later on you can get a feel for Tarja the 1st singer (more operatic) but great LIVE and Annette (2nd) who was more Pop/Rock and better on the studio albums. Ha! Welcome to the world of crazy fanatical Nightwish fans. This band created symphonic metal as a genre, and there's a lot of wannabees, but none of them has Tuomas Halopainen composing music. His ability to blend metal & classical is unparalleled. As you get into them you'll find out about the 3 singers of Nightwish, but the secret is him. The chief engineer at Angel studios in London where most of the backing tracks are recorded said that he is a true genius, and "light years ahead of Wakeman and that bunch". All this stuff comes straight out of his head, he's rock's true Beethoven. The history of the band is every bit as dramatic as the music they play, and I, for one, count myself blessed that I get to occupy the same time space coordinates with them.
Welcome to Nightwish my man :) Now i would recommend that you'd also give a listen to the other 2 singers. So yes there has been 3 singers in this band, first one is Tarja Turunen who left in 2005, second one is Anette Olzon who left in 2012, and the current singer (who was also in this video) is Floor Jansen. They all have something special in them even if you were listening to the same song :D. TBH i wouldnt have bought the "Endless forms most beautiful" as my first album but it's alright, this might be only my opinion or understanding of things but i feel like that is their "worst" album, but don't let me ruin it for you of course. I feel like the 2 most popular and liked albums by Nightwish are "Dark passion play" or "Imaginaerum". Now if i were to recomment some songs by the OTHER singers as well i'd say listen to "Phantom of the Opera" which is sung by the first and original singer Tarja Turunen, and for the second singer Anette Olzon i would either recomment "Amaranth: Official music video" or "Scaretale: Official live". But all their songs are truly amazing and i'm glad that you found this band.

Always looking for new reactions to NW, so I just subscribed. They are awesome, even better live than in studio recorded songs. The top three NW songs for me are: The Greatest Show on Earth (I like the Tampere Ratina stadion version from 2015 the best with fireworks and all), The Poet and the Pendulum (Live at Wembley 2016, but if you search for it here in YT, Wembley is misspelled WEBMLEY), and GLS (But you already did that), However, they have over 100 great songs to choose from, so go ahead and find your favorite as you will sooner or later get tons of suggestions from Ann Waychoff and other hardcore NW fans who are very passionate about this band. P.S. I'm Finnish and been their fan from the beginning as they released their first album "Angels Fall First" in 1997. They are currently working on a new album, which should be released in 2020, after which they start touring again. Apart from Finland, they are really popular in Europe and Latin America. I dare to suggest the "old true" albums of "Nightwish": 1) "Once" - there last album with an original singer Tarja Turunen, from were you just listened their greatest (IMHO) masterpeise - "Ghost Love Score" , and 2) "The Century Child" - the album, priveous to "Once". Nevertheless - their third solist - Floor Jansen - she was on this video - is awesome. I recommend to look into Nightwish songs performed live^ from an "End of an Era live" concert (2006), and songs, from their prior albums, performed either by Tarja, or by Floor later. Both of them will take you away.

Your Mom has good taste! I have some background information for you. It will make it easier to navigate through their songs.
Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a female
fronted symphonic metal band. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player,
composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the
Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is
Troy Donockley who is a multi-instrulmentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due
to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now still is.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals).
She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon (Poppy, strong
vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor
Jansen. (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) There are live concerts
that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of
an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at
Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit live (Floor).

Live songs are actually better than album versions. Been to many concerts in the rock/metal genre and Nightwish was live insane. They are not popular in North America. Honestly probably only like 3000 at the venue I was at which was awesome. Discovered them about a year ago and hands down my favorite group now. I am also a huge Megadeth fan but these guys are incredible.
I actually planned on getting the live albums once i get done with the crazy amount of reaction requests lol

Jouni Ojala really? saying there worlds best band. It isn’t hard for me to understand why you feel that way, because it’s just plain and simply true. I think I was 7 when the Beatles went “viral” of course to say viral wasn’t a term then but that is what a way to describe them now. Your are awesome for just throwing that out there. Trust me, growing up at a time to be a witness to music’s evolution, certainly was so special. I wouldn’t trade my age with a 20 year old now because I would loose four decades of awesome bands. They are my favorite band because of the diversity in their music. They also have deep meaningful lyrics which is incredibly rare these days and musically always on point with their instruments. You ordered their most recent album which is the only current album with Floor Jansen as lead vocalist. I personally love thier last five albums. Floor Jansen has elevated the bands chemistry and stage presence she is my favorite vocalist especially live. Anette Olzen was the previous vocalist and was actually pretty good on the two albums Dark Passion Play and Imaginareum. But you will not find a professional quality concert like this one of them with Annette Olzen. Tarja Turunnen was their first vocalist she was even more operatic and was exceptional on the two albums Once and Century Child and the live End of an Era Concert.
Tarja : Angels falls first, Oceanborn,Over the Hills and far Away ,Wishmaster, Once ,Century Child,Tales from Elevenpath - End of an Area is a Best oft Concert a Last Live with her.
Stoped listen to them with Imaginarium. The Style fully chanched at Endless Forms most beautyful, the sound has become more Pop and likebale for the mass.
I first heard of them in 2003 fallen in Love with them Instantly.
But Floor Jansen is a frikin awesome singer
Tarja later startet her Solo Career and shes pretty good and popular , I recomend to Listen to : i walk away

Thanks mom! That's hilarious. Mom couldn't have suggested a better song to kick off your channel. This song and this performance is a Nightwish fan magnet. I'm not sure where your tastes lie in general. Nightwish has a wide variety of songs and styles. They have harder stuff like Romanticide, Song of Myself and Ghost River from this same Waken 2013 show and they have softer ballads like The Islander (Tampere 2015), While Your Lips Are Still Red (Wembly 2016) both of those are actually sang mostly by Marco (the bassist) and Sleeping Sun (Tampere 2015) sang by Floor Jansen the female vocalist you see here in this video and by their first female vocalist Tarja Turunen either on the Oceanborn album, official music video or live in their End Of An Era show in Helsinki Finland. Then they have many songs that fit somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. I really love their latest album Endless Forms Most Beautiful. You can find those songs performed live (which is always my recommendation because they're just so good live!) in their Tampere 2015 and Wembly 2016 shows with great audio mixes. I lean towards the Tampere 2015 show because I feel Floor's vocals come through a little better. Hope you enjoy your Nightwish exploration journey!

I first heard Nightwish in May 2005 and immediately went out to buy their albums - within 2 months I bought their whole back catalogue, and everything since on release. This was when Tarja was the singer and their sound was unique. Floor is able to take those Tarja era songs and turn them into her own, her voice is so versatile. Nightwish was my introduction to the world of symphonic metal, and really opened my eyes to the wide variety of music that metal has to offer.

I've seen Nightwish live 3 times... 2x with Tarja, once with Anette. I MUST SEE FLOOR LIVE ASAP!!! Been following them since 1999 and I was A huge FAN. When the first singer was ''kicked out'' I was really sad and kinda stop following them after seeing them live with Anette. She isn't bad AT ALL, but she didn't really fit... she couldn't do ANY of the old stuff... And her vocal ''stamina'' wasn't that great... like you noticed a difference between the beginning of the show and the end. Now.. FLOOR JANSEN... O-M-F-G... She made me fall back in love with Nightwish like on day 1. I recommend you to review THE POET AND THE PENDULUM from Wembley (I think?)... checking my stuff :P Yeah It's that one. THIS SONG is very very very special to the composer Tuomas (the keyboardist). It about when they kicked the first singer out... and the media and fan went out on him BAD! (I did too... sorry Tuomas). He went VERY low... and was ''saved'' by his parents. You have to review this one. (and btw... you are the first channel I EVER subscribe to :P).

If only everyone would support their favourite band just simple as you did, the world would already be better.. Nightwish is one of my favourite bands i listen to and to be honest that live performance gave me tears in my eyes. There are only 2 or 3 songs that do this to me out of the thousand songs I've listened to my entire life and that's one of them. I wish i was there...

In my opinion, the Holy Trinity is composed by Ghost Love Score, The poet and the pendulum, and The greatest show on earth.
And the best choice you could have made is the whole Wacken concert : Showtime, Storytime. But you can't be wrong with any album.

This concert is one of the best, so check out Song Of Myself, Romanticide, Bless The Child, anything fom this show, and we Nightwish fans will show up here :)

The one you just did, The poet and the pendulum live at wembley and the greatest show on earth live at tampere. You should do 4-5 other Songs between them😊 makes you able to enjoy them more and will keep us waiting a little👍 i would suggest weak fantasy live at tampere as your next song. Thats a newer song. Its a Heavy song but stil epic like all Nightwish Songs are 😁 and its a song made for Floor Jansen (the singer you just listened to) that is their third and most awsome singer 😊

If you're gonna buy Nightwish albums, I'd start with Showtime, Storytime and/or Vehicle of Spirit. Those are the concert CDs and Nightwish is just better live. Good choice on the one you went with, though. That's their most recent and is the only studio album with Floor (the singer you heard in this video) on it.
To answer the favorite song/album question, though, for me favorite Nightwish song is The Poet and the Pendulum and favorite Nightwish album is Imaginaerum.
Great review. Nice to hear you comment on the interaction between the bandmembers. Such a small thing can make a world of difference in a live performence. I'll take a band that's having fun on stage over a band that is 'at work' any day.
If you're wondering what can be better then Floor Jansen, the answer is a collaboration between Simone Simons and Floor Jansen. So I recommend Epica - Sancta Terra (live retrospect tour).
Floor singing Ghost Love Score is like seeing and hearing a 1966 Cobra ACR or a 1967 Ford Mustang GT500, aka "Eleanor."
No matter how many times you see and hear it, you never get tired of it, it never gets old.
Nightwish is to metal what Carol Shelby or Boyd Coddington is to old classic cars.

- Romanticide (Live at Waken 2013 for preference) - This is one of the more 'heavy metal sounding' songs they have (and the guitarist gets to show off with a more complex and slightly longer solo intermission)
- Phantom of the opera (End of an era live) - This is on the other hand, one of the most explicitly (and intentionally) operatic sounding songs from the 'earlier career' of the band (featuring their first singer, Tarja)
- Poet and the pendulum - This is one of their more complex songs, with several parts/chapters with drastically different 'styles/moods' and a particularly relevant 'back-story' for the fans of the band and for the keyboard player (main composer).
- Greatest show on earth (Live at Tampere) - since you bought the album this is on, you'll already be familiar with the track, but this is the longest and most heavily produced song they made up to now, so it should be at least mentioned:)

Others have suggested good songs. My two fav albums from this band: 1.) -98 "Oceanborn". Original operatic singer, Tarja. Music pretty much power metal, lots of riffs and solos. Less orchestral, but keyboards present 2.) And then maybe this latest which you purchased (EFMB) Floor on vocals + multi-instrumentalist Troy Donockley adds flavor. Diverse symphonic songs - folk songs, heavy songs, uplifting songs and last one over 20-minute monster. But all albums are high level stuff :)
their first 3 albums were almost power metal. some great concerts too. i think the melkweg show from the netherlands might be the most readily available.
Yes Wacken Germany 2013 is a great concert but also please react to songs from Wembley Arena London and Live from Tampere Finland that is my personal favorite. story time, weak Fantasy and shudder before the beautiful.
And please wait a while before you react to the greatest show on earth live it is epic beyond conceivable proportions. I also recommend looking up lyrics to fully appreciate this living vehicle of spirit that Thomas and the band creates.

I love watching live performances. You get to see how performers handle audiences. Floor had them eating out of her hand for this whole song. Iwish I'd been able to see them when they came to Minneapolis a couple years ago. Every note, every gesture, perfect. No waste. In front of 80,000 people.

Great reaction and man that didn't take long to nail you as a fan. They are a very diverse band with songs that are fun, thoughtful and inspiring. I suggest that you get the Wacken 2013 DVD and enjoy the entire concert. This is a LIVE band and that is one of the best concerts I have seen in the last 40+ years. The other advantage to the DVD is you will get a real broad spread of the different types of songs that they are capable of. Floor Jansen the lead singer is their 3rd and she has really electrified the fan base and added to it. She is a 6'1" dynamo who can sing high opera to rock, pop and even metal growls. These are top notch musicians who love playing on stage with each other and really fed off a crowd no matter the venue and Floor commands the crowd from start to finish!! Any song from the Wacken show is great so go ahead and jump in. The fan base is very passionate so if you find something you don't like please don't take the comments personally this fan base responds to criticism immediately loud and clear. Some other symphonic bands you should check out are Within Temptation, Epica, Delain and some others. You will notice that all of these bands are fronted by Dutch women who can sing LIVE like nothing else and they are good friends and often end up doing duets and other projects beside their bands. Look forward to the journey. Later on you can get a feel for Tarja the 1st singer (more operatic) but great LIVE and Annette (2nd) who was more Pop/Rock and better on the studio albums. I subbed to watch the journey, enjoy!!!

I love them. I love all of their songs but some of my most favorite songs is Ghost Love Score, Poet and the Pendulum, Nemo, and Storytime.
Ha! Welcome to the world of crazy fanatical Nightwish fans. This band created symphonic metal as a genre, and there's a lot of wannabees, but none of them has Tuomas Halopainen composing music. His ability to blend metal & classical is unparalleled. As you get into them you'll find out about the 3 singers of Nightwish, but the secret is him. The chief engineer at Angel studios in London where most of the backing tracks are recorded said that he is a true genius, and "light years ahead of Wakeman and that bunch". All this stuff comes straight out of his head, he's rock's true Beethoven. The history of the band is every bit as dramatic as the music they play, and I, for one, count myself blessed that I get to occupy the same time space coordinates with them.

Welcome to Nightwish my man :) Now i would recommend that you'd also give a listen to the other 2 singers.
So yes there has been 3 singers in this band, first one is Tarja Turunen who left in 2005, second one is Anette Olzon who left in 2012, and the current singer (who was also in this video) is Floor Jansen. They all have something special in them even if you were listening to the same song :D. TBH i wouldnt have bought the "Endless forms most beautiful" as my first album but it's alright, this might be only my opinion or understanding of things but i feel like that is their "worst" album, but don't let me ruin it for you of course. I feel like the 2 most popular and liked albums by Nightwish are "Dark passion play" or "Imaginaerum". Now if i were to recomment some songs by the OTHER singers as well i'd say listen to "Phantom of the Opera" which is sung by the first and original singer Tarja Turunen, and for the second singer Anette Olzon i would either recomment "Amaranth: Official music video" or "Scaretale: Official live".
But all their songs are truly amazing and i'm glad that you found this band.

Always looking for new reactions to NW, so I just subscribed. They are awesome, even better live than in studio recorded songs. The top three NW songs for me are: The Greatest Show on Earth (I like the Tampere Ratina stadion version from 2015 the best with fireworks and all), The Poet and the Pendulum (Live at Wembley 2016, but if you search for it here in YT, Wembley is misspelled WEBMLEY), and GLS (But you already did that), However, they have over 100 great songs to choose from, so go ahead and find your favorite as you will sooner or later get tons of suggestions from Ann Waychoff and other hardcore NW fans who are very passionate about this band. P.S. I'm Finnish and been their fan from the beginning as they released their first album "Angels Fall First" in 1997. They are currently working on a new album, which should be released in 2020, after which they start touring again. Apart from Finland, they are really popular in Europe and Latin America.

Hello there! I dare to suggest the "old true" albums of "Nightwish": 1) "Once" - there last album with an original singer Tarja Turunen, from were you just listened their greatest (IMHO) masterpeise - "Ghost Love Score" , and 2) "The Century Child" - the album, priveous to "Once".
Nevertheless - their third solist - Floor Jansen - she was on this video - is awesome.
I recommend to look into Nightwish songs performed live^ from an "End of an Era live" concert (2006), and songs, from their prior albums, performed either by Tarja, or by Floor later. Both of them will take you away.
So great to see the same old people in the comments section, probably also 3 hours deep into a nightwish reaction marathon

Funny fact : The first song I ever heard of them is called MOON DANCE and I was like OMFG! My friend who made me listen to that told me : Man... if you think this is good... and this is an INSTRUMENTAL song... wait to hear the vocal... hehehehe... yup, I wasn't ready for that :P
