    My wife and I drove through Renmark and Blanchetown to Nurioopta from Griffith NSW in late October. Just made it through the Murrumbidgee at Carrathool. Never seen so much water everywhere and i mean everywhere. A once in a life time opportunity which you and your wife have captured beautifully. Cheers

    Being an old Berri boy and having a daughter and lots of mates still up there and also a tanker driver in the oil/fuel industry for 43 years I do enjoy your very professional videos on your channel. Thanks for the look around Mick, as you say amazing the amount of rain fall to achieve this amount of flooding. I spent quite a bit of time in Murray Bridge off an on working on project at TFI meatworks. We toured the local place like Mannum , Talium Bend, didn't get to travel too far as only had Sunday off each week if lucky.

    Again well documented and great coverage. Without your drones eye view we cant begin to appreciate just how far some of this water spreads out. Yesterday the water might well have been only 30 to 40 cm from going over the Bookpurnong Rd.

    Great drone footage Mick. You guys certainly have had some rain. What about further north on the road to Darwin? Any big detours coming up? The news footage of the flooding we see in NZ is nothing like what you are showing Mick. Thanks for sharing.

    • @justcruisinwithmicksally837
      @justcruisinwithmicksally837  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I am aware most of this water has come from upstream from within the river catchment areas. Sure we have had some rain in South Australia but I don't think it is the real cause of what we are currently experiencing. The wet season is starting early this year up north but as yet it has no effect on roads up and down between Darwin and Adelaide.

    Thank you for this, it is 6 years since we left the Riverland and have not been back or seen much of it since! This is totally amazing to see how far the water is spreading across the land! I thought it will be good for the ground and trees but my son informs me it is black water and so will be killing off the trees, I hope that is not so! I lived in Renmark for over 20 years and never saw it like this! I am really enjoying you showing me it all!

    • @justcruisinwithmicksally837
      @justcruisinwithmicksally837  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, glad you are enjoying the videos. I would have though that the water would have been moving too fast to be classed as black water but I am no expert on that part of nature. One would think that in the long run the river could only benefit from a good flush out.

    • @Dave-Rough-Diamond-Dunn
      @Dave-Rough-Diamond-Dunn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't call it Black Water, that implies still water, full of tannins. The problem is, a lot of the areas flooding, you'd call salt pans, there's salt sitting on the surface, or was! That salt is causing the river's salinity to rise, and the backwaters are becoming brackish. Black Water can be brackish, but not all brackish water can be termed Black Water, it's the tannins, rather than the salt, that it's named for. I could be wrong about how much tannin is in the flood water, but it's the salt that's the problem I'd say.

      Local talk here around Waikerie, it will be "sometime" before it gets back to high nornal, possibly Easter. It depends on the rainfall in the eastern states and whats still sitting around there. Lots of factors to consider and no answer either wrong or right
