Catching up now, been a couple of days…

Sorry no updates for a couple of days, I’ve been a bit busy as you’ll see in the video…
Thursday morning the lake was still badly flooded, but thankfully I located Solo the lone duckling and could see he’s doing well. He’s a smart baby and seems to have discovered safety alongside the geese.
Syd and Wilma’s nest was completely washed away by the flood water so the swans were feeling a bit lost, but Syd had a good breakfast while Wilma and fluffs snoozed peacefully on the bank until I served their breakfast too.
I made quick visit to check the greylag pair that loiters near the car wash, and a hello to the canal swans too, before going for a drive with Stacey to pick up an injured heron from quite a distance away as the lady who reported it had been unable to get any help for two days. The poor bird was an easy catch as it was so badly injured, but sadly we could only help end the suffering after the vet confirmed it had a broken pelvis and could not be fixed.
Friday I was officially off duty due to what was happening on Saturday, but when the report of a trapped cygnet came in, I rushed to site knowing it was one of Cookie’s seven beautiful crumbs and thankfully I was able to quickly rescue baby and reunite the special family 🥰
Then Saturday happened… no rescues, phone was actually off for half the day and I didn’t even know where it was as it was in my bag in the back of someone’s car… but I did manage to squeeze in a quick hello to Syd and Wilma, and Solo, before going to get ready for our big event… ❤️
This morning I went back to collect my car that was parked at the lake, and gave the lake birds a quick feed while I was there.
Today, I’m tired, it was a long day with not much sleep last night… but our day was just perfect, and the rest of our lives start now.
