Is there a part 2 of this Sabbath Episode? The context of Hebrews 7 is clearly stated in Hebrews 7:28. The Law being changed is the Priesthood Law see Exodus 40:14-16, Priesthood under this Law was not profitable because they were sinners too, they suffered death also, the blood of animals did not take away sin but Christ made a priest by an oath (Psalm 110:4), liveth forever, ministers with His own blood in a true tabernacle in heaven. Notice also in Hebrews 8:7-13, we are told in verse 8 that thhe fault was with THEM (Israelites), nothing wrong with commandments, but now a new Covenant established, no need for blood of goats, no tables of stone, but written in our hearts by the finger of God which is the Holy Spirit (see Matthew 12:28, Luke 11:20) The Holy Spirit who wrote the Law on tables of stone & the same Holy Spirit writes the same Law in our hearts this time In Conclusion, Hebrews 7 tells us that the Law of Levitical Priesthood has changed (not ten Commandments), and we now have a new High Priest(Jesus) in the order of Melchisedec by an oath. The old covenant had to be changed because the fault was with them. Finally it is Paul who wrote the book of Hebrews, a serious Bible scholar reading Hebrews 13:20-25 will know that. Shabbat Shalom
The Old Covenant had the law written on table stones, read out to the congregation, with earthly priesthood and ratified by the blood of animals. The new covenant has the law written on the hearts of man, everyone knows the demands, heavenly priesthood and ratified by the blood of Jesus... What changed is how the covenant is effected/operationalized but the law is still the same and hence the sabbath is still in force
I actually thought he was supposed to ask achiti: is sabbath observance still imposed on the believer in the dispensation of grace. Again what was the spiritual meaning of that rest?
