Offenses opened up. Defenses countered. Cleveland(thanks to Paul Brown) practically wrote the book for modern offensive tactics/strategy. And The Giants(thanks to Tom Landry) did the same for defense. That decade brought facemasks for helmets. And of course the NFL on TV took off in the 50's. The specter and drama of the NFL was brought to the living room. This started the NFL on it's way to replacing Baseball as America's game.
I am a huge lions fan, So I am just going to watch these old games for the rest of the season :)

Well it was the 1991 season. The Lions beat the Cowboys in the playoffs. Then they in turn would get routed by the Redskins.

I am boycotting the NFL Until they re-number the Championship games back to 1933.
