You don't need skill to decode that's the thing. Yeah, all people can decode but no everyone can kite and that's why kitters are praised . Hunter usually focus decoders to stop cipher rush and also because they are not also weak but many times they are people being Carried by others. You only have 1/4 chances to find the decoder and if they don't do it in the beginning the Hunter will waste time finding them or get cipher rushed. But if you do you are most likely going to end up with a tie. Decoders are no needed in idv actually and so you proved it just by looking at high pro gaming . Why decode a lil bit faster when you can do that with other charas but also giving support or being pretty good at kitting etc? Wish I could play idv again and bully decoders 😆
Not a decoder main but I agree somewhat. Honestly, I just play decoders not to decode but rather to kite. Decoders are weaker in kiting but they're satisfying to me when you get hunted down. But as you said, decoders seems redundant as other roles can decode fast enough anyways. They're still dangerous to hunters with their fast decode leading them to get hunted first. The problem is decoding which is seen as passive and a fundamental part of the game that everyone can easily do, unlike kiting which is a fundamental part of the game but something not everyone can easily do. But I disagree with decoders being unneeded. Decoders are still needed because some people like to combine weak decoders in one team leading to cipher rush getting slowed down heavily. This means, the kiter must kite longer and against a good hunter (both player and character) that won't happen. Plus it stresses the kiter a lot.

I think it’s due to a pro decoders goal is to be invisible like as idv ver of brutal legend says “A good decoder stays out of the spotlight, if they’re doing their job right, you’ll never know they were there. Might heal the rescue might save someone from chair, but before you realize they were even there, they are gone”
Another thing about Luca is teammates being pea brained and messing around with his link transmission which can encourage a pretty interesting post chat lol
@@zoe-ks7si Lemme try to explain When Luca connects 2 ciphers most of the time he wants to be the one transferring his cipher's progress to yours so he sets his transfer speed to 48%. This will make your cipher finish much faster If you also set your transfer progress to 48% then that will slow down BOTH of you and Luca's decoding progress. Cipher A 48% and Cipher B at 0% = Cipher B will finish extremely quick Cipher A 48% and Cipher B at 48% = Both ciphers will slow down decoding progress and finish late
@@zoe-ks7si to add to the other reply, when sending progress some of it is lost (the total amount depends on the distance between the ciphers). prisoner gets a 10% decode buff when on a connected cipher which makes up for this loss, but if you send 48% back you actually lose progress overall

As a learning Frederick main, yeah pretty accurate T-T one time I did get a call from Priestess and tried to answer it but since the cipher I was working on wasn’t near a wall I just kinda ran about aimlessly looking for the nearest place to put it. Still some stuff aside, I love using Frederick, and some of my best kiting have been done using him!
My main is explorer and yeah he's great for hiding like ninja (be the last survivor). But sometimes when i search page codes it always (not all) near the hunter 😂
Playing too much decoder makes me understand how to hide and how to kite 🫣 My suggestion is…if you’re bad at kite…learn how to hide. Sometimes, hiding will take hunter their time to search for you and by the time they found you. About 2-3 ciphers done 😬
I started maining decoders because of my really bad ping (yesterday it was 300-800ms, for example), but one of the issues you didn't mention are teammates with no brain, who tend to lead the hunter to decoder who yelled 20 times "I'm stuck! Get out of here! 30% etc" They had so many choices, they weren't injured and their best choice was to go exactly to the spot where the decoder hides or decodes

omg yeah I remember in one of my matches a kiter led the hunter to me when I was a decoder and told them to get out of here and made it very clear I was decoding there and it was still early game (idk why but I just cannot kite early game) so I got tied first :(
Everytime I see one or two decoders in my team, I try to catch the attention of the hunters, so they can decode in peace, even if i have to run for my life, thinking if the hunter has his blink ready or not. I main rescuers, so i prefer not to kite but is better that way.

as a semi helena main, she actually does have a chase/support ability, technically multiple. you see, helena doesnt excel in kiting, she excels in looping, helena can see the hunter through walls passively, making it harder for the hunter to mindgame, plus, helenas cane actually makes the hunters animations slower for five seconds, this includes pallet stuns, pallet breaking, hit animation, window vaulting, and even ability animations, helena shows that as long as you read the description of a character, youll definitely obtain some important knowledge of how they function
Former 88th Helena here, and I would say those are true. And yes, those can help Helena mains...if they use her properly. The sad truth is, more often than not, I see Helena offering herself for lunch to the hunter :')

Yeah, I was waiting on that one. As someone who tried to main Tracy, I feel like the picture of her shown in this video is too positive. First off, you won't be getting any rescues with that doll against any Hunter that can tell left from right. So being unaffected by Naiad's piss is irrelevant (in a rare case of a blue moon perhaps). Second, playing "second perfumer" with the doll is like playing Russian roulette, but all chambers are loaded except one. It's harder to pull than a flywheel. This coming from someone who practiced to exhaustion how to pull that off, and yes, I can get it right but it's not easy at all (and it even messes up your camera setup because of the change of perspectives). Third, she becomes a liability with that 70% debuff. Hunters will thank you for using her anyway because she slows cipher progress by just existing. Your only choice is to use the doll for decoding (at normal speed), which is not very durable and also means you won't be playing "second perfumer" either. :)
@@randomshizk1883 You will want to have separate, in my experience, for double decoding. Sharing the same sucks when doing it. It slows down your interactions. And that is exactly what messes you up when the doll get hit right behind you. Also, there is still some delay before being able to move, unlike the perfumer, which is instant, because it has to temporarily change to the doll's perspective, then to yours, and only after it you can move. So by then, the hit recovery is almost complete.
While I’m a lucky guy main, when there’s times we need a decode or I feel like decoding, Luca is the best choice for me since I can decode and kite (I’m a kiter and rescuer). Doing both is such a nice to have in one character, granted it’s not as great as other characters but it’s still something to have, plus the connected ciphers also act as a free getaway or free distance since the hunter want to stop the decoding and by the time they’re done, you’re already at a pallet or window
I never realize how decoders aren’t getting much praise like I love decoders who actually decode and help along the fact that they can kite or save besides lawyer I hate his character not the players. Like I can kite with prisoner and maybe some others but mind eyes mains are pretty scary like they can kite and save even though mind eyes is has a lot of slow debuff
I really pay attention not to miss the Composer combo. One time I was so focused that I did an 80 combo but I didn't notice that 2 of my team were in the chair and 1 was at half health (Born to decode, forced to kite and rescue).
as a kurt main, my problem is more on the treasures always spawning near the hunters lmao 😭😭 usually that or if someone else just decoded before i get to use my treasures ksksk. als its important to note that kurt can detect the hunters in his tiny mode hence why some of us tends to stay in that tiny dwarf mod ksksk
as a rescuer main and a player who ranked up to mammoth on composer i want to make sure you know: decoding is the hardest thing to mess up in this game. and also for you to successfully decode your teammates need to know what they are doing. if they don’t kite well enough or fail during rescues that just means that you will not be able to do your job of just sitting there at a cipher…

Yeah sometimes, actually yesterday I was happy because I was on a losing streak in rank (a combination of awful team and occasional questionable decisions from my side), someone was praising me that the only reason we got the tie was because of the amazing Journalist (me). I didn't even notice because I wasn't opening the chat. Didn't have time to thank for all the praises before they left the chat. It was a tough match, but admittedly, I did rock that one with kiting time and amount of rescues and support. It's nice to see the acknowledgement. Maybe we should start paying more attention to decoders' efforts too, if done right.
AGREEEEEE, I main prisoner as decoder and always get 3 chiphers. And sometimes, the cipher rush that I did was the thing that ended up CARYYING the match and still, nobody really gives decoders credit. Like really, supports are good, kites are good, but without the decoding we would lose anyway... Give your decoders some love 😭
it's because decoding is the easiest thing in the game. Staying still and doing a calibration once in a while isn't really all that. I understand it for someone like composer for example, since he needs to hit his combos, but otherwise, decoding is not half as hard as kiting, rescuing or supporting
ive been playing since 2019 and i main freddy and omfg people are srsly awful to you if you main lawyer. i keep getting friendly hunters that only kill me and cuss me out in the post match for playing freddy or teammates that wont rescue me after kiting 3+ ciphers because my character isnt attractive to them . its srslty so tiring

Based on my experience as a TME main. I always go for a transition first before decoding just to stay away from a hunter. Just what I did to the clip there (but it's not there tho xD)
Nice strategy. Another one is, well, go to where the hunter was at the start of the match. Btw I'm sorry because the editing was ongoing when I received the clip, I couldn't use the whole clip :')
Not a Helena main, but when I play her (which is rare), the early rotation is the most important part of the game. Don't touch a cipher until the hunter is chasing someone else. Of course, later once it's late to hide, you may go down, but hopefully by then you've already contributed enough with decoding %. In a perfect scenario, you never even run into the Hunter until it's escape time. Just use your decoding speed to compensate for the hiding time. You can see the hunter from the get-go, so it shouldn't be difficult to know where they are headed. Downside is that all of this relies on your teammates not being 'bots' getting TSd and chaired left and right, which forces you to come out of hiding.

I feel like, the moment IDV makes decoding a sigular cipher more challenging (than just the little ding you gotta do) and having the decoding depend more on skill than only on a natural buffnthat a decoder has or gains during tje match, that is when more decoders will be recognized and praised. Because yeah now they decode, but its more of a strategic thing where and what cipher you'll decode, and less of a skill based thing like kiting or rescuing
@@SilminaIDV true, but I feel like that's for most survivors. From my experience dealing with ransoms, people don't really expect decoders to kite well. However, I am only Mammoth rank so maybe it's a lot more intense in higher rank
the problem with composer is that everytime he meets me in a match he is suddenly the owner of a really clingy puppy who follows him everywhere until the end of the (friendly) match
It’s almost like the roles each character is given is reversed, the decoders sometimes will take chase for the nearly the whole game because the hunters want them dead, and the rescuers have to decode, since no one would chase them
I remember when one time when I played Helena, I kited for 5 ciphers straight, only to be downed right before the exit gates were opened, and no one rescued me either. I don’t know if I’m just a masochist or what, but playing a decoder is actually kind of fun because the Hunter’s target you, if you want to sharpen up your kiting skills it actually might be better for you to play as a decoder because the Hunter’s will usually always target you. To think I used to play decoders to avoid kiting, now I actually kind of enjoy the thrill of it.
Pls buff mechanic! At least buff her decoding speed to be normal like other survivors and her's doll decoding speed buff for at least 15-30% since she is useless against clerk and hermit 😢

For the decoders, the safest pick as a low risk with high reward is lawyer, next would be prisoner. If you want an almost guarantee dungeon escape and you don't trust your teammates on solo rank, the choice would be explorer. You sure that you'll be sent to the manor the first few seconds? Mechanic can help to finish one cipher atleast before she goes out. The chase meta hunters does not allow helena to be played honestly, that's her sad reality, unless they buff her cane that can push back hunters.

when I first started playing iden v, I was confused why tis always me meeting the hunter first. that isn't until I realised I was playing a decoder. Sure their fast in decoding but MAN their slow in kitting, I always get terror shot😮💨

See, I am a Luca Ballsack main and what I like to do is crank up the decoding progress to 48% which will then help with your progress. And near the end of your decoding I crank it to 24% or 12% randomly so that I could have some progress on my end. Then, I will connect my cipher machine to whoever is decoding as well or wait until someone decodes and repeat the same process! I also only use my shock whenever a person gets ballooned or something if they are close then I just bodyblock and try to leave
Best skill a decoder can have is knowing how to hide so you dont get targeted off of spawn, you need to know that you will be at a disadvantage when kiting for the most part. I see alot of people picking decoders to not have to worry about kiting but it is the opposite you need to be a really good kiter to play a decoder because you are a threat and they want you DEAD.
When I was still a Helena main, I tapped, and went to where the hunter was, and kept on doing that to make distance from hunters chasing me all the time :D

Tip for Composer mains from a Composer Main: Please for the love of all that is holy LEARN HOW TO STOP CARING ABOUT YOUR STREAK! Trust me when I say the 100+ combo isn’t gonna boost you at all. It’s easy to get lost in the big numbers, but please, the only numbers that are important to you are the 80 tonal stacks and the 20% decoding speed buff. Missing one note isn’t the end of the world (it only takes away .25 of your speed boost and 1 tonal stack and it’s really easy to recover. It ONLY sets the combo to zero, nothing else), it’s only a problem if you miss three in a row because it reveals your location as if you missed a cipher correction. If you wanna be a good Frederick, you gotta learn how to multitask and not fuss over a lost streak. It might look hard, but with enough practice, the rhythm game will become second nature to you and you can watch for the hunter, ping your progress, and pjsk that cipher all at the same time! As for kiting, DO NOT WASTE THAT FORK! It’s your lifeline, and if you don’t use it effectively, you’re on your own for a good 50 seconds. Use it to get out of bad kiting spots, transition to new areas, or just to escape sticky situations. Also, Frederick’s worst enemy is actually Yiddhra. Some people get so lost in the rhythm sauce they fail to notice the little Yiddhra icon at the top.
Kurt can actually be really good for giving tinnitus & wasting the hunters time trying to find him tbh Also if you use your pages right + have teammates who actually decode you can pop the last cipher a lot easier
What doesnt make sense to me is that they're called decoders but have kiting abilities, like???? Decoders arent supposed to be found, so giving them a kiting skill is just weird to me. Mech is an example of a decoder who doesnt have a kiting ability, and yet there she is with the title of worst decoder of the game

I want some justice for Mechanic. Ok we can go back so slow Mech and all her kite, but touching her robot was one of the biggest mistakes that was made. By nerfing her robot they completely killed her and even in rank I remember before the robot nerf(and other questionable things done with her) she was picked almost every match, but now I almost never see her
And for old player that liked Mech so much and played her, now she’s so bad(she can even be the worst decoder right now, but mb I just speed things up)

I highly importunate decoders, I spam the decode message and even bash it in pals face pre match "y'all better decode fast" because if we don't highlight the importance of decoding we would all kite to death at 3 ciphers! my formula for a perfect match in 5v5 is one person kiting hunt while 3 ppl decode until 2 cipher, then when that one gets down another person can rescue and assist, then two other people finish the last ciphers! I owe everything to decoders
And that one time i was prisioner got instantly hitted in begining first chase and magician spammed forget about about saving and i literally kited 4 ciphers
Felt like commenting because majority of the comment section are decoder mains and previous roles. Honestly to me, the decorders in idv is not that relevant because survivor can also do decoding and sometimes decode buff is not that important then kiting buffs. Sure like Lawyer has receieve buffs that help him become a kiter role but not like Mech and Mind's Eye. It is like questioning yourself "do i need someone to buff me when I decode?" or "do i need a support characters who has decoding debuff?" . All im saying is that professional/rank wise, they are not as much as important as kiting for your life or have a perfect rescue to be called "PRO". I also realize as I played IDV, being a decoder is not fun (to me). I'm also an explorer and mech who brings tide (because hiding from the start of the game) but stopped when season 18-19. I stopped using them because it made me realize I put to much pressure being a decoder and sometimes you need to rely on your skills and if you unsuccedd doing kiting, rescue or even decoding, it is a skill issue. Anyways I want to share a perspective from a support, kiter and resue role duoing with a decoder who she founds decoders challenging and fun.
Decoding is as easy as taking terror shock 5 seconds in the game lol. Even the quick message has a cheer for kiting, not decoding. A catch to that is that u don't have to sweat over teammates flaming u for failing (unless u miss the priming). In one of BBlack Phoenix's videos, he also mentions the problem where trades/risks when u pick a certain character getting removed, due to the "jack of all trades" design approach the game has made in the last few years. It takes away the uniqueness and satisfaction it brings when u master a character. Ppl barely touch mech now just bcuz of her debuff without acknowledging that she used to be top tier if u just master the robot control. Cipher rush also makes decoders look less important now if u can just kite long enough to the endgame.
That intro is way too long, next time shorten it and immediately get into the topic And also the problem with Kurt is it takes way too long to get a treasure, it's better to decode the nearest cipher rather than spend your time running and digging, he's only valuable against hunters that camp ciphers like Clerk, Photographer, Hermit, etc.
Once in a match 3 survivors were all triple kiting and harassing together i decoded almost all ciphers and none of the survivors liked me but liked eachother and like what would they have done if i didnt decode the ciphers they wouldve been pointlessly triple kiting (which is already a dumb thing when theres so many ciphers left)

When Luca connects 2 ciphers most of the time he wants to be the one transferring his cipher's progress to yours so he sets his transfer speed to 48%. This will make your cipher finish much faster
If you also set your transfer progress to 48% then that will slow down BOTH of you and Luca's decoding progress.
Cipher A 48% and Cipher B at 0% = Cipher B will finish extremely quick
Cipher A 48% and Cipher B at 48% = Both ciphers will slow down decoding progress and finish late
@@zoe-ks7si to add to the other reply, when sending progress some of it is lost (the total amount depends on the distance between the ciphers). prisoner gets a 10% decode buff when on a connected cipher which makes up for this loss, but if you send 48% back you actually lose progress overall

As a learning Frederick main, yeah pretty accurate T-T one time I did get a call from Priestess and tried to answer it but since the cipher I was working on wasn’t near a wall I just kinda ran about aimlessly looking for the nearest place to put it. Still some stuff aside, I love using Frederick, and some of my best kiting have been done using him!
Well, Fiona is the arch enemy of Frederick because she often ruins his combo haha XD
if you're not aware, you can actually answer portal on the cipher! so you don't have to find a wall/object if there's not one nearby 🙂

My suggestion is…if you’re bad at kite…learn how to hide. Sometimes, hiding will take hunter their time to search for you and by the time they found you. About 2-3 ciphers done 😬

I started maining decoders because of my really bad ping (yesterday it was 300-800ms, for example), but one of the issues you didn't mention are teammates with no brain, who tend to lead the hunter to decoder who yelled 20 times "I'm stuck! Get out of here! 30% etc"
They had so many choices, they weren't injured and their best choice was to go exactly to the spot where the decoder hides or decodes

Everytime I see one or two decoders in my team, I try to catch the attention of the hunters, so they can decode in peace, even if i have to run for my life, thinking if the hunter has his blink ready or not. I main rescuers, so i prefer not to kite but is better that way.

as a semi helena main, she actually does have a chase/support ability, technically multiple. you see, helena doesnt excel in kiting, she excels in looping, helena can see the hunter through walls passively, making it harder for the hunter to mindgame, plus, helenas cane actually makes the hunters animations slower for five seconds, this includes pallet stuns, pallet breaking, hit animation, window vaulting, and even ability animations, helena shows that as long as you read the description of a character, youll definitely obtain some important knowledge of how they function
Former 88th Helena here, and I would say those are true. And yes, those can help Helena mains...if they use her properly. The sad truth is, more often than not, I see Helena offering herself for lunch to the hunter :')
Prisoner main with a forward duo. Nothing is more fun than guessing if they are decoding or left the cipher cuz sometimes it really is that slow

Yeah, I was waiting on that one. As someone who tried to main Tracy, I feel like the picture of her shown in this video is too positive. First off, you won't be getting any rescues with that doll against any Hunter that can tell left from right. So being unaffected by Naiad's piss is irrelevant (in a rare case of a blue moon perhaps). Second, playing "second perfumer" with the doll is like playing Russian roulette, but all chambers are loaded except one. It's harder to pull than a flywheel. This coming from someone who practiced to exhaustion how to pull that off, and yes, I can get it right but it's not easy at all (and it even messes up your camera setup because of the change of perspectives). Third, she becomes a liability with that 70% debuff. Hunters will thank you for using her anyway because she slows cipher progress by just existing. Your only choice is to use the doll for decoding (at normal speed), which is not very durable and also means you won't be playing "second perfumer" either. :)

@@randomshizk1883 You will want to have separate, in my experience, for double decoding. Sharing the same sucks when doing it. It slows down your interactions. And that is exactly what messes you up when the doll get hit right behind you.
Also, there is still some delay before being able to move, unlike the perfumer, which is instant, because it has to temporarily change to the doll's perspective, then to yours, and only after it you can move. So by then, the hit recovery is almost complete.
While I’m a lucky guy main, when there’s times we need a decode or I feel like decoding, Luca is the best choice for me since I can decode and kite (I’m a kiter and rescuer). Doing both is such a nice to have in one character, granted it’s not as great as other characters but it’s still something to have, plus the connected ciphers also act as a free getaway or free distance since the hunter want to stop the decoding and by the time they’re done, you’re already at a pallet or window

as a rescuer main and a player who ranked up to mammoth on composer i want to make sure you know: decoding is the hardest thing to mess up in this game. and also for you to successfully decode your teammates need to know what they are doing. if they don’t kite well enough or fail during rescues that just means that you will not be able to do your job of just sitting there at a cipher…
It's the easiest job until that one kiter brings the hunter to the decoder (or when teleport comes :D)

Yeah sometimes, actually yesterday I was happy because I was on a losing streak in rank (a combination of awful team and occasional questionable decisions from my side), someone was praising me that the only reason we got the tie was because of the amazing Journalist (me). I didn't even notice because I wasn't opening the chat. Didn't have time to thank for all the praises before they left the chat. It was a tough match, but admittedly, I did rock that one with kiting time and amount of rescues and support. It's nice to see the acknowledgement. Maybe we should start paying more attention to decoders' efforts too, if done right.

And sometimes, the cipher rush that I did was the thing that ended up CARYYING the match and still, nobody really gives decoders credit. it's because decoding is the easiest thing in the game. Staying still and doing a calibration once in a while isn't really all that. I understand it for someone like composer for example, since he needs to hit his combos, but otherwise, decoding is not half as hard as kiting, rescuing or supporting

ive been playing since 2019 and i main freddy and omfg people are srsly awful to you if you main lawyer. i keep getting friendly hunters that only kill me and cuss me out in the post match for playing freddy or teammates that wont rescue me after kiting 3+ ciphers because my character isnt attractive to them . its srslty so tiring

Based on my experience as a TME main. I always go for a transition first before decoding just to stay away from a hunter. Just what I did to the clip there (but it's not there tho xD)
Nice strategy. Another one is, well, go to where the hunter was at the start of the match. Btw I'm sorry because the editing was ongoing when I received the clip, I couldn't use the whole clip :')

Not a Helena main, but when I play her (which is rare), the early rotation is the most important part of the game. Don't touch a cipher until the hunter is chasing someone else. Of course, later once it's late to hide, you may go down, but hopefully by then you've already contributed enough with decoding %. In a perfect scenario, you never even run into the Hunter until it's escape time. Just use your decoding speed to compensate for the hiding time. You can see the hunter from the get-go, so it shouldn't be difficult to know where they are headed. Downside is that all of this relies on your teammates not being 'bots' getting TSd and chaired left and right, which forces you to come out of hiding.

I feel like, the moment IDV makes decoding a sigular cipher more challenging (than just the little ding you gotta do) and having the decoding depend more on skill than only on a natural buffnthat a decoder has or gains during tje match, that is when more decoders will be recognized and praised. Because yeah now they decode, but its more of a strategic thing where and what cipher you'll decode, and less of a skill based thing like kiting or rescuing

It’s almost like the roles each character is given is reversed, the decoders sometimes will take chase for the nearly the whole game because the hunters want them dead, and the rescuers have to decode, since no one would chase them

I remember when one time when I played Helena, I kited for 5 ciphers straight, only to be downed right before the exit gates were opened, and no one rescued me either. I don’t know if I’m just a masochist or what, but playing a decoder is actually kind of fun because the Hunter’s target you, if you want to sharpen up your kiting skills it actually might be better for you to play as a decoder because the Hunter’s will usually always target you. To think I used to play decoders to avoid kiting, now I actually kind of enjoy the thrill of it.

For the decoders, the safest pick as a low risk with high reward is lawyer, next would be prisoner. If you want an almost guarantee dungeon escape and you don't trust your teammates on solo rank, the choice would be explorer. You sure that you'll be sent to the manor the first few seconds? Mechanic can help to finish one cipher atleast before she goes out.
The chase meta hunters does not allow helena to be played honestly, that's her sad reality, unless they buff her cane that can push back hunters.

See, I am a Luca Ballsack main and what I like to do is crank up the decoding progress to 48% which will then help with your progress. And near the end of your decoding I crank it to 24% or 12% randomly so that I could have some progress on my end. Then, I will connect my cipher machine to whoever is decoding as well or wait until someone decodes and repeat the same process! I also only use my shock whenever a person gets ballooned or something if they are close then I just bodyblock and try to leave

Best skill a decoder can have is knowing how to hide so you dont get targeted off of spawn, you need to know that you will be at a disadvantage when kiting for the most part. I see alot of people picking decoders to not have to worry about kiting but it is the opposite you need to be a really good kiter to play a decoder because you are a threat and they want you DEAD.
When I was still a Helena main, I tapped, and went to where the hunter was, and kept on doing that to make distance from hunters chasing me all the time :D

Tip for Composer mains from a Composer Main:
Please for the love of all that is holy LEARN HOW TO STOP CARING ABOUT YOUR STREAK! Trust me when I say the 100+ combo isn’t gonna boost you at all. It’s easy to get lost in the big numbers, but please, the only numbers that are important to you are the 80 tonal stacks and the 20% decoding speed buff. Missing one note isn’t the end of the world (it only takes away .25 of your speed boost and 1 tonal stack and it’s really easy to recover. It ONLY sets the combo to zero, nothing else), it’s only a problem if you miss three in a row because it reveals your location as if you missed a cipher correction. If you wanna be a good Frederick, you gotta learn how to multitask and not fuss over a lost streak. It might look hard, but with enough practice, the rhythm game will become second nature to you and you can watch for the hunter, ping your progress, and pjsk that cipher all at the same time!
As for kiting, DO NOT WASTE THAT FORK! It’s your lifeline, and if you don’t use it effectively, you’re on your own for a good 50 seconds. Use it to get out of bad kiting spots, transition to new areas, or just to escape sticky situations.
Also, Frederick’s worst enemy is actually Yiddhra. Some people get so lost in the rhythm sauce they fail to notice the little Yiddhra icon at the top.
They should play Osu instead :D

Decoders arent supposed to be found, so giving them a kiting skill is just weird to me. Mech is an example of a decoder who doesnt have a kiting ability, and yet there she is with the title of worst decoder of the game

I want some justice for Mechanic. Ok we can go back so slow Mech and all her kite, but touching her robot was one of the biggest mistakes that was made. By nerfing her robot they completely killed her and even in rank I remember before the robot nerf(and other questionable things done with her) she was picked almost every match, but now I almost never see her
And for old player that liked Mech so much and played her, now she’s so bad(she can even be the worst decoder right now, but mb I just speed things up)
I can take slow Tracy back just give good robot back instead

4:20 i mean both decoder and the kiter do a good job he manage to kite hunter so long and without decoder his long kiting is useles. And the decoder too do a good job doing chipering machine, without kiter kiting the hunter the decoder cant decode peacefuly

Im a proud decoder main who decoded 570%+ in a normal match, say again in a normal match because nobody was decoding and keep hogging the hunter near my ciphers forcing me to leave (we still lose that match

I highly importunate decoders, I spam the decode message and even bash it in pals face pre match "y'all better decode fast" because if we don't highlight the importance of decoding we would all kite to death at 3 ciphers! my formula for a perfect match in 5v5 is one person kiting hunt while 3 ppl decode until 2 cipher, then when that one gets down another person can rescue and assist, then two other people finish the last ciphers! I owe everything to decoders

Felt like commenting because majority of the comment section are decoder mains and previous roles. Honestly to me, the decorders in idv is not that relevant because survivor can also do decoding and sometimes decode buff is not that important then kiting buffs. Sure like Lawyer has receieve buffs that help him become a kiter role but not like Mech and Mind's Eye. It is like questioning yourself "do i need someone to buff me when I decode?" or "do i need a support characters who has decoding debuff?" . All im saying is that professional/rank wise, they are not as much as important as kiting for your life or have a perfect rescue to be called "PRO". I also realize as I played IDV, being a decoder is not fun (to me). I'm also an explorer and mech who brings tide (because hiding from the start of the game) but stopped when season 18-19. I stopped using them because it made me realize I put to much pressure being a decoder and sometimes you need to rely on your skills and if you unsuccedd doing kiting, rescue or even decoding, it is a skill issue. Anyways I want to share a perspective from a support, kiter and resue role duoing with a decoder who she founds decoders challenging and fun.
Ex A-badge Helena here, and I gotta say, well she's been targeted so much in high rank that at one point, I forgot how to decode with her XD

Gosh, fr I heard so many of these from mech main, and I agree :')
Decoding is as easy as taking terror shock 5 seconds in the game lol. Even the quick message has a cheer for kiting, not decoding.
A catch to that is that u don't have to sweat over teammates flaming u for failing (unless u miss the priming).
In one of BBlack Phoenix's videos, he also mentions the problem where trades/risks when u pick a certain character getting removed, due to the "jack of all trades" design approach the game has made in the last few years. It takes away the uniqueness and satisfaction it brings when u master a character.
Ppl barely touch mech now just bcuz of her debuff without acknowledging that she used to be top tier if u just master the robot control.
Cipher rush also makes decoders look less important now if u can just kite long enough to the endgame.
As a former decoder main, I feel unloved :')

And also the problem with Kurt is it takes way too long to get a treasure, it's better to decode the nearest cipher rather than spend your time running and digging, he's only valuable against hunters that camp ciphers like Clerk, Photographer, Hermit, etc.

Once in a match 3 survivors were all triple kiting and harassing together i decoded almost all ciphers and none of the survivors liked me but liked eachother and like what would they have done if i didnt decode the ciphers they wouldve been pointlessly triple kiting (which is already a dumb thing when theres so many ciphers left)
