I so much appreciate the effort and the brilliancy of the NLC president. I would like to ask the government why should the supposed money that has always been paid as subsidy be diverted into education sector revamp and others? What would be the hope of our already dead refineries? Would Nigeria still continue to refine crude abroad? For how long? I dont think this government is working in her right thinking mind. I really hope that this current administration would sit and brainstorm on how to get our refineries working rather than depending on Dangote refinery alone. Having said that, there ought to have been provisions to cushion the effect of this sudden pain and agony that was brought on the poor people of the society on the first day of a new administration. Transport vehichles for government workers for all parastatals must have been put in place and those vehicles owned by the govt like the BRT buses should have their fares either maintained or slashed by 50 percent at least, including that of the Railways and inter state transports. I just hope this hardship won't get much more than this in few days.

He is intelligent in deceiving the Nigerian people. He is for the cabal that are making all the money from the subsidy. Every time the naira depretiates, Nigeria has to pay more for subsidies. Nigeria now spends 95% of its income on paying debts because of the massive subsidy. The country will collapse if we carry on like this and the poorest would suffer the most then. NLC says what people want to hear but does what is not good for the people. NLC is in bed with the cabals in government. Make no mistake about it.

Yes, we also remember that Oshiomole was once on the other side of the isle "fighting" for the masses in the NLC camp but ironically is pictured here on camera on the opposing side and we are still where we are in 2007 just recycling the same set of leaders. At some point we have to question ourselves as a people. These leaders didn't just fall out of the sky, they came from somewhere, from among the people/constituents themselves. Perhaps the real issue here is the kind of subset of followership from where these leaders emerge.

Now, when those same set of young people get elected in the community/ward/LGA/State/Federal level... isn't it their peers who vote for them? Whether you voted for Tinubu or Obi or Atiku, fuel subsidy as to go. It was not benefitting to majority of Nigerians. it is only benefitting importers who made life harder for Nigerians at any time before this decision. For instance, December 2023 to February 2023, there was no fuel supply and people were suffered due to the importers' decisions. This is the time to nail it. Spending $10 Bln on few people is a sham. The masses were eating the crumbles and the same time suffered or die in the quest of fueling their vehicles during fuel scarcities. Now, you can hold your leader accountable since there won't be any excuses as regarding the infrastructure and creation of jobs for the youths.
Also, the minimum wage must be increased to tally with the removal of the subsidy.

It's interesting that the Nigerian approach is to administer treatment after death!
You make a decision to implement a policy that will have such a severe impact on the masses and you're having meetings on how to make it better while people are already suffering!
What happened to planning, strategizing, testing and gradual implementation? When medication is administered, you are advised not to take everything at once... That act is called overdosing!
The country has been living with subsidy for a long time now, imagine the decision was rather to sensitize the masses on the negative impact of the subsidy and gradually bring down the percentage, say over a 1-2 year period until its completely removed, (rather than this about 300% overnight shock increase!?). While critically brainstorming on Strategies to help the masses survive. Would anyone have died if such an approach was made????

ADVISE FOR LAGOS STATE GOVERNOR: 1) Install gas stations for BRT buses and pipe gas straight to the stations same way industries now get gas. 2)Begin the conversion of existing buses from petrol consumption to gas. 3) Put your tribal bigotry aside and negotiate with Innocent Chukwuma of IVM and buy new buses that uses natural gas. That way BRT buses can be operated cheaper to serve the masses.
Same can be replecated in our capital cities to help the masses. A sensible FG will subsidise conversion to gas usage for logistics operators especially for those moving food items. FG also need to install gas stations across the nation so that transpoerters can have a choice.

The problem with Nigerians...always sentimental for whatever reasons. Someone said Nigeria now spends 95% of its income to service debts. Who incurred the debts? How were the debts incurred? Has the homologous debt profile transformed Nigeria and Nigerian's lives on the streets? Or did it enter the pockets of some cabals and patronizers of the last administration? Why can't we just be rational as Nigerians? Some of you people supporting this inept and abrupt subsidy removal fiercely kicked against it in 2012 when GEJ wanted to implement it. Then it wasn't going to even have the kind of impact it now has on the masses since the Government had a well-laid-out plan to cushion it. Now, that perhaps those you considered to be your people are now in Government, you are supporting it forthwith, even when they have no plan to address the effects it will have on the poor masses. If they do have a plan, they will have confidently reeled it out even before announcing the removal of the subsidy. They even made the announcement one month earlier than the scheduled time in the budget. What a dubiousness! So they want to spend that money that has been earmarked to run their expenses without even considering the masses. This is the height of insensitivity! I also see a comment of someone comparing a non-oil producing country and a small one in resources for that matter (Benin) with Nigeria. It seems you must be among those gaining indirectly from this government or you just like to suffer and smile out of sentiments! Why don't you compare Nigeria to other oil-producing countries, let's not even go far to Europe, you didn't even think about Algeria, and other Asian countries like Kazakhstan, Kuwait and Qatar, I will even leave out UAE and Saudi Arabia. Until we become honest with ourselves and begin to hold our leaders accountable, Nigeria will sadly remain where she is and even go down the more!
