- What is the school of the leshen? In this video I try my best to explain the history of the school of the leshen. I will discuss everything we know of this witcher school, including mythology and general witcher lore! Of course this is all just for a bit of fun and not actual lore, but it's something for the witchergeorge community to have fun with Be sure to like the video for more of the same and subscribe if you're new and love the witcher!

School of the Roach.

They can magically be summoned on top of a house
They can be summoned from thin air if you whistle, but often will have a bit of trouble finding your exact location due to rocks and stuff.
They have horse cocks
But one disadvantage is being hook up on a tiny fence so fellow Roach witchers please avoid fences
Perhaps a school of the kraken, a witcher school that sails the sea dealing with monsters of the deep that trouble sailers.

This is so interesting and imaginative, yet stylistically fits in well with canon lore. A lot of fan written, noncanon stuff can be imaginative, but too out there, because it's difficult to achieve that sense of style that jives with the actual lore while also exercising one's imagination. You've done very well with this! I would love to see something like this, especially wooden armor, in the game.
How about a school of the dragon or wyvern. They wear heavy armor and use upgraded versions of the igni sign
Friend of mine had a similar idea, extra igni focus, but used heavy armor and flameberg swords I think they're called? The wavy ones

I've had this idea about a 'School of the Vulture' who don't just collect trophies but use up every part of the creature they killed for armor or munition.
Mutagen hybridization/recycling efficiency; (~ thinking like ghouls-as-land-vultures as well), armor/(xyz) buff whilst having a trophy equipped; get a potion/oil kickback from successful fights.
Oh and they should be like experts at killing necrophages

School of Golem
This school orignally founded by a engineer and a witcher from unknown school, rumor say that this school was made to protect ancient artifact and study them so they arent lost.
Many witcher from this school prefer light armor but the weapon that they where useing is more advance, some have bow that fire what they call bullet some use great switch axe that change form axe to sword and shield at will and etc.
Location of this school is unknown but some rumor say they where in nilfgard.
Way too much monster hunter-esque to be in TW world
Here's my witcher schools idea:
+ School of Dracul/Dragon: have the extensive knowledge & expertise in fast healing mutagen & vampiric features. rumored that this witchers would drink the blood of monsters to heal & gain unique powers. Some of the witchers in this schools also able to meditate without any foods for months. They also use a unique fire based gauntlets that enhanced igni sign & they have a unique igni sign techniques.
+ School of Panther: Agile & strong, particularly the expert in night hunt & these witchers always clad in black brigandine armor. These witchers actually hunt in pair. These witchers also use a unique repeating crossbow.
+ School of Kelpie: Very unique school 'cause this witchers able to use a new water based sign. Totally amazing in water/swamp hunt & horseback combat.
+ School of Gargoyle: Very strong witchers with heavy plate armor. These witchers use a silver poleaxe or silver coated mace with a shield to fight. what they lack are poor magic signs powers, but this witchers also proficient with bombs.
+ School of Siren: The most unique witcher school as the school able to produce female witchers. Very mysterious & likely to be so few them, almost a myth even. It's to be believed they do not possessed cat eyes-like mutation, so likely they're much easier to mingle with most communities as professional hunters or other professions.

Also, I really like the Kelpie idea. Everything in the Witcher Universe shows witchers to be deficient in fighting aquatic monsters. So I’ve thought before of a witcher school that’s totally geared to fight aquatic monsters. A school where witchers are given amphibian mutagens to allow them to hold their breath for hours at a time and be extremely nimble swimmers.
Late to the party, but boy do I love this school! You have no idea but as soon as I saw "School of the Leshen" I thought it was a canon school and got so excited, the Leshen is my favorite monster in the Witcher world, they are mysterious yet dont seen malicious. Love this concept! Hope to hear more about this from you.
This is beautiful! I've been working on a School myself, though unfortunately I couldn't get help from the creators, unlike you! Mine isn't the best, huge WIP still, but it's definitely a fun thing to do. I even made a new sign for my wip school! :)

Ah sorry I might've not been clear! I didn't actually get direct help from CDPROJEKTRED or the author. When I said 'indirect' I meant because I've used stuff like the concept of a leshen and a leshen medallion etc.

This was super good! I would only add in something like "because the Leshen was so old, it had become integral to the stability of the forest, and upon it's death, George II was moved upon seeing aspects of the forest wither and diminish, which called back to his time in Brokilon." But that's just a flavor thing, I really like your school idea!
Imagine a witcher school that use 3 swords the third sword being specifically designed to harm incorporeal monster like wraith without the need for yrden or moon dust.
Late but, that'd be alot of weight to carry. Even for a Witcher. Plus the potions/bombs they carry...

Could just be their silver swords are special in that way. No need to have a third sword. Perhaps it's not the sword itself but a runestone? Anyway, I'd call it School of the Specter.

How about the school of the Vampire, it’s a school established by 6 Witchers each from a different school as they combined their training, strategies & knowledge.
And it’s a school where they use Vampire mutagens in the trials to improve their Witcher ability like strength, speed, agility & intelligence and make them as vigilant as a higher vampire...
in short they’re Vampire-Witchers without the bloodlust/blood sucking.

Ayracha Larsen a boar features historically on my family Coat of Arms, and my family are boar hunters and we also raise hogs, so I chose the boar for my Witcher School. I bought one for myself, 2 for each of children, and 2 for each of my brothers. If you are in WV USA and see a boar medallion, that’s my family lol
Aww that was super sweet at the end when you said the community would be the School of the Leshen. I definitely like the idea of the school being more in tune and respectful of nature and monsters. I'm definitely excited to say I am part of the School of the Leshen :D

It would be cool if there was a multiplayer game of the witcher. Players could choose what they wanted to be (wizards, elf, human or witchers) but if they chose being a witcher, it would be a random school chosen by the computer. War and monsters would be rampant on the land of course and at times factions would attack each other while other times they would work together... ahhhh, what a game it would be

I know this is a bit late in the game (no pun intended) being 3 yrs after the release of this video, but I feel it deserves it.
I don't typically comment, like or subscribe on Videos, its just not my jam... but this was very well done and deserves all of the above. Kudos to you my friend.. Its well thought out.. you have the creation of the school, the lore of the founder, the equipment they would've used, and why it was designed how it was, their schools location, their beliefs, and much more.. which is all of course things that you would expect from a Witcher school, but for all of it to be completely fabricated, but still having a place for it to fit in the actual Witcher world... it is all very very impressive.. Which is high praise coming from me. I love the concept.. Keep using that beautiful imagination, and never let that spark dim.. Hope to see more of this Schools documentation? "found" in the future... GG my guy.

Awesome video man. It’s really encouraged me to continue improving on my School of the Crow. In fact the profile picture I have was an inspiration for that idea originally.
When you mentiond traps and bow I started thinking about whole concept of witchers focusing on sword fighting and realized it don't always make sense. Using only melee weapon would fit better a honorable knight, not a monster slayer.

I think a school of the hawk or eagle (really any bird of prey) would be cool, maybr there fight style can be based around quick footwork and extra training in quick reflex and even though it's not exactly lore friendly, maybe mastery in range weapons

Maybe create your own witcher ,pick the school you want, create a style of play depending on what advanced mutations you undergo etc.

In Witcher world schools have names of animals or monster that occur naturally in the ecosystem. Leshen is a monster which appered after Conjunction of the Spheres. In lore griffin and mantycore are naturally live in this world.

The school also could just be territorial for the forest as well. Much like a Leshen would. They sound like a hybrid druid/witcher ( aka Rangers I guess lol). Interestingly though if you say had a longbow in the arsenal or I guess as you said bows in general.. a bow requires strength like hell so I imagine a witcher with one is just freakin devastating to anyone shot by them haha
Thats what i thought. The School of Leshen comes off as Witcher's with a (Ranger Archetype) Similar to the School of Cat is a Roguish Archetype.
They absolutely need to make a more in depth Witcher game where you can pick different Witcher schools to start out in. I think that would be so cool

I created a few years ago the school of the tiger in a witcher dnd campaign. They are an ofieri school and they use curved swords and katars (blade gauntlets)
As someone who knows all there is to know about the witcher universe this video was definitly the best one I have seen all year. I'd definitly like to hear more about this school ar any other cool ideas for schools or bits of new lore or even a new monster.
My story follows a young scholarly fellow no older than 15. He is extremely smart for his age and wanted ever so desperately to be a Witcher. Because of this he trained with sword at a very young age a honed his skills. He also studied the different Witcher schools before he set off on his 10 year long journey of finding all the Witcher school keeps. He started his search/studies at Kaer Morhen. Seemingly abandoned he rummaged around the ruins of Kaer Morhen reading ancient texts furthering his knowledge of the infamous Witcher’s. Yet he was not satisfied with this knowledge he wished to see a Witcher in action study them and who better to study the most infamous Witcher to ever live, Geralt of Rivia himself. Geralt refused to train the boy stating he had no knowledge of how to turn someone into a Witcher he later called him foolish for even wanting to go through the Trial of the Grasses because the boy had no idea what he would be subjecting himself to. This did not discourage to boy however he decided that he wanted to figure out a way to turn himself into a Witcher while negating the side effects of the Trial of Grasses, so began a new mission. To start this new quest he decided to find Stygga Citadel former home of the disgraced School of the Cat. The mutations of the school were more aggressive than that of the wolf. Cat members wore light armor, were more agile in combat and relied heavily on fast attacks. Once he was done learning all he could at Stygga he set out for Haern Caduch home of the School of the Bear. When he found the keep he quickly began his studies. He soon learned that the School of the Bear shared similar characteristics to the people of Skellige. They were brawny and strong, focused on heavy weapons and armor. Over powering the enemy with brute force. He also learned that this particular school was one of the only ones to openly seek out the berserker curse. This would indeed make them a ferocious combatant. With the knowledge he learned at Haern Caduch he realized that at each keep there was a mural The Witcher George of the School of the Griffin. He’d read some texts about him and the other schools clearly regarded him as being one of the greatest Witcher’s to ever live. He decided that he would venture to Kaer Seren just north of the Dragon Mountains. Once he got there he was distraught seeing that the keep had been destroyed by an avalanche many years ago. He decided to look around anyway seeing how he made such a long journey to get there. To his surprise he found a small gap in one of the towers that he could easily fit through. Making his way through the keep he found the vast library of the school and spent well over a year studying the once great school. He learn that the school was well versed in Witcher signs that often rivaled that of sorcerers or mages when casting. He could’ve spent years studying the vast knowledge of the schools but there was still 2 schools he had yet to visit. First on his list was School of the Manticore located somewhere in the Korath Desert or Zerrikania. Alas he had no luck finding this school but from what he’d read about School of the Manticore was that they’d consisted of drunkards and whoreson’s. He then set out for Gorthur Gvaed home of the School of the Viper. This school were hired assassins not unlike the School of the Cat but the Vipers were a more prestigious school than there counterparts. They had a vast library and knowledge of the Wild Hunt which the boy now turned man read up on. He knew the Wild Hunt had been defeated but he was a scholar and wanted to know more about there magic and the one they sought. The Child of Elder Blood. He knew Geralt had ties with this Cirilla and that he had trained her in the ways of a Witcher but he did not know if she was dead or alive. He then decided to seek out Ciri if she lives and see if she would train him in the ways of a Witcher, thus far most of the training he had done was by himself accepting small contracts just to get by on his journey. Three long years went by before he finally found Ciri. She was a tried and true Witcher and as beautiful as ever. Seeing how she was an honorary Witcher she decided that it couldn’t hurt in training the young man in the ways of a Witcher. With the knowledge he had already gathered from his journey most of his training was done within a year. Although he had to learn to cast signs on his own. Ciri knew the basic knowledge but being that of the Elder Blood prevented her from casting Witcher Signs. When his training had been completed he had decided to test his version of the Trial of the Grasses. Ciri was against it at first but seeing how much it meant to him she decided to help. Miraculously it worked. He had none of the visible side effects that the other Witcher’s had. The mutagen treatment was different, technology had advanced and he adapted it to his time. He was a knew bread of Witcher. One that was stronger, faster, and smarter. One that had all the knowledge of the past schools. He decided to form his own school and called it the School of the Dragon. Ciri helped him establish the school but she remained Loyal to the School of the Wolf even tho she was romantically tied to our young Witcher. None the less they married a few years later and had a couple children. Which were adopted into the School of the Dragon. The end. If you wanna contact me or something feel free that’d be awesome this is just something I thought of one day. Pretty cheesy but oh well it’s supposed to be.

If Geralt decides to go back in Fayrlunds as his home base, talk to Harald about the teachings, recruit the young kids as Witchers solely for monster hunting and game hunting, and implement the Witcher training fused with the old ways. Geralt might be able to found the School of the Leshen and probably be the best Witcher school in history. Skelligers are known to be big and strong men like School of the Bear. The old way teachings feels like more on loyalty and true skills.

I think that entertaining our personal thoughts of the possibilities of the World of the Witcher is probably why so many people love the games and books. They say so much while leaving so much unsaid and thinking about the world of the Witcher remains a fun past-time for myself. I'm glad you shared this. Thank you.
If you want to find an awesome serie about Leshens, I recommend Jordskott, a swedish serie. If you can't talk that language, you can still find it with english subtitles on Dailymotion. As fans of the Witcher, you wouldn't feel lost trough monsters such as sirens, echidnas etc

Think you can do a lore video over the knock from the tower of the swallows book? I don’t really know what it is but it played a big role in the book in transporting Garelt to save his friends.

And in the light of the recent development of scientists hardening wood (bringing soft wood to a hardness similar to stuff like ironwood), this is even more plausible.

My is School of the Dragon in the Dragon mountains where it meet Dragontal valley. Where a castle sit forgotten in time guarded by six true dragons .

This is really cool because I was trying to think up a witcher character that is more of a ranger and bow user
I read on the witcher wiki about a non-translated book of short stories where the Schools of the Crane and Siren were introduced, specifically designed to combat aquatic and aerial monsters and had even developed early gunpowder firearms with gnomish/dwarven engineering, could we get a video about that or the Mad Sea perhaps, really interesting stuff.
I generally don't like adding new schools to the lore but I'm loving this idea! Not just because the leshen is one of my favorite monsters but because the ranger/trapper/hunter aspects remind me of the rangers of the north from lord of the rings.
A School of the Raven or School of the Elk would be good I think.
- School of the Raven:
These Witchers are a splinter of the School of the Griffin. After the dissolution of that order, many former Griffin Witchers sought ways to preserve the ideals of the Griffin School. They would seek those they saw as corrupt or dangerous, and eliminate them. This being anyone who abuses power, causes harm to innocents, and lower minded monsters. They came to believe that operating in the shadows is the best way to achieve this goal, so they began using reconnaissance tactics. They specialize in swift weapons, usually a thrusting sword and dagger.
- School of the Elk:
These Witchers live simple lives. They specialize in alchemy and long ranged combat, favoring the spear and bow. They have no single Keep, instead living in multiple strongholds isolated from common areas. Some are in Skellige, and a few are scattered in the North. While they do not permit outsiders into their strongholds for extended periods of time, they do conduct trade on occasion, and will use their skills in alchemy for the purpose of healing.

my personal idea has been 'School of the Owl', which is currently in the process of being founded by a witcher seeking to rediscover/save all of the lost knowledge from the defunct or dying schools, and unify them under one school. Since witcher schools are named after animals whose aspects they identify with, i think owl would be a good choice since owls are associated with knowledge.
This school would probably use light armor and value high speed attacking styles (similar to how owls are speedy predators) but would also allow their witchers to choose for themselves, since the School of the Owl would have compiled knowledge from schools like the Bear, Griffin, Cat, etc. This leader would also gather the few remaining witchers from the dying schools, like Gaetan, Letho, and the Wolf school witchers. Their vision for the school would be similar to the School of the Cat; the Owls would be mercenaries for hire, since that is the sort of jobs most in-demand in modern-day. Because they have access to a variety of witcher school knowledge, this would make them highly versatile. They can assign witchers more resembling the School of the Bear as bodyguards or elite mercenaries, or light armor witchers similar to the School of the Cat as assassins.
you, as the protagonist, could choose to aid this leader in their goal of reviving the witcher race, or you could choose to put an end to the violent and barbaric practices required to make witchers. You could also imagine if this leader was somehow involved in politics, where siding with or against them also affected what kingdom or political faction you end up with.
I feel it's quite likely that this school's members would primarily be former members of other schools as the living members of other schools are now in single digits. If they wanted to band together to some extent and be one school despite not being able to create new witchers, none would wish to abandon their own school's symbol. So taking a new one for all of them would be the compromise.
School of the fox, a sneaky, fast, crossbow slinging, spell shooting, sword swooshing nightmare! They use weak blows, but they do it really fast dealing lots of magic. They use two pocket crossbows, powerful spells and extremely light shortswords. As weak and puny as they are you don’t want to come across one.They can jump really high and dash faster than whirlwind sprint from Skyrim! They never speak to their enemies because for them it is a sign of mercy if you socialise with a target. They aren’t as pissy as the other schools though, they are pretty nice to their colleagues. That... is The School of The Fox.
I am a D&D dungeon master and I made up a character who was a witcher who was from the school from the draconid.
There is another thing that you missed. Geralt and Lambert meet another witcher who became a merchant in novigrad at the end of the quest "following the thread". He claims to be from the school of the cat.

Who else thinks this guy should do personnel lore videos as in. Making his own completely made up characters and give them a backstory and everything while still staying true to established lore, didn't even need to be a Witcher. Could just be any type of character based in the Witcher universe

I like it, a lot less machiavellian than my last Witcher School idea. I particularly liked that their home is a cave system, it worked really well in the naturalistic themes and also plays nicely with the Witcher status as Inhumans.
