  • We recently visited our good friend Alan Cumming at his lovely mill, Lovat, on the Scottish Borders near the River Tweed. Alan takes us through the history of tweed, how it's made and also runs us through the wonderful selection of cloths at Lovat.

I was looking at that same detail. Also, there is a subtle overcheck on his jacket too. Very nice touch.

I don’t really like tweed as I don’t like the rough feel, but lovat mills tweeds are beautiful and soft to the touch which I love

Oh nice, a more detailed look at the cloths. Kirby also did a great series and tour on Lovat, if you haven't already seen it Mark. Btw what watch are you wearing in this video? Thanks.

The moment he started speaking, he channeled Stephen Fry. Unintentionally of course. His body language is exactly like Stephen's

Hi, Alan is wearing a custom City Hunter jacket that we made for him, the fabric of course is their own tweed

I’m sorry, I have a question for you. I’m new to all of this and I’m watching a lot of videos and soaking up as much as I can. My question is, are the names “The Kirkton” “The Ettrick” and “The Teviot”, are these names in house names for the tweeds they create, are they a brand name, are they a universal name that any company uses? I live in Japan, if I go to a tailor to get a tweed coat made can I tell the tailor I want “The Ettrick” and they’ll possibly have it in stock, or would they have to specifically be carrying Lovat Mill tweeds to obtain it? Am I making any sense? Haha! Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
