I have a McIntosh amp and speakers. Yes, they cost more than most other brands. It is nice supporting a company based in Binghamton which contributes to the city. Same with Martin guitars. Paying a premium, if you can, to support American companies is the right thing to do. Im sure there are many more examples. I keep the grills on my XR50s as well.

Yes, Martin you are right. Image and sound are recorded independently for best results. Let me explain how: 1. Live Music Setup: I start with a high-fidelity (HiFi) sound system playing music.
      2. Video Recording: While the music is playing (or not), I capture video footage of the HiFi system and the room. This gives viewers a visual context for the music they will hear.
      3. Sound Recording: After capturing the video, I use a stationary digital recorder placed in the sweet spot to record the sound of the same or a different track.
      4. Dubbing: Once I have both the video and the high-quality audio recording captured in the room, I replace the original audio from the video with the recorded audio. This process is known as dubbing.
      5. There’s no CD or pre-recorded track involved other than the one being played by the system itself. It’s all about capturing the most authentic and high-quality representation of the music-listening experience. What you hear is the music as it’s being played by the HiFi system and how it sounds in the room.
      6. Final Product: The result is a video that shows the HiFi system playing music, but the sound you hear is from the high-quality audio recording I made previously or after I made the video. This gives you the impression of being in the room listening to music in the sweet spot, even though you’re watching a video, sometimes with close-up images.
      I hope this helps!

How did you like them and how did they compare to lets say Bowers and Wilkins 802 D3 or D4?

It's not a question of sound, but rather of style

I am not sure about the sound yet but ML1's look alone - I want them. I want them bad. I think it looks better with the grills on by the way.

They sound like good 4-6 thousand dollar speakers. At $12,000 they are way overpriced IMO.

@yippie6862 did you listen to them in person? I did and I was impressed with the sound and build quality.

@@davidjames9143 No, I have not heard them in person. I've heard quite a few other McIntosh speakers over the years and was never too impressed. All of them seemed a bit bright sounding to me. The ML1's seem bright to me as well in this video using headphones. Who knows though, maybe I would like them better in person. I just think for 12K there are other speakers I'd bet I would like more. The $8k Harbeth Super HL5+ XD come to mind. Do you think the ML1's are 4k better in sound and build quality? I don't know. To each their own I guess. Maybe I'll get the chance to listen to the ML1's in person. If I do I'll let you know.
