President Ali is a role-model for the (so-called) Muslim leaders around the world. Down to earth, modest and approachable, these are the signs of a true Muslim.
As a Guyanese and a Muslim convert I learned a lot about Guyanese culture in this video. Who would have thought you’d see a Guyanese president cooking his foods and eating simply on a plastic plate. No ears. May Allah keep him humble and guide his family.

As a Haitian-American, I love the way the Guyanese president is so humble. The man made his own spice blend 😩 Cooking so much for everyone. Plus a president actually cooking on TV. I got to realize through Wikipedia that they speak similar english-creole / pidgin English with my country Nigeria 🇳🇬, it just made me feel happy! In sri lanka we call the coconut chukka, cocunut sambal (cocunut, onion, red or green chili, and lemon juice), usually we use pestle and mortar also we use the rock grinder too. Similar tradition to our south Asian culture. Respect 🙏🏾
Guyana is populated with Indian decent so the food are the same
@@mandyramsubhag8871 Sri Lanka and India are different. The reason why some of their foods are the same is cause the Tamils who came to Sri Lanka were from the same areas as the ones who went to Guyana and Trinidad. Coconut choka won’t be found in the majority of India.

Back in early 2000 Guyana was still underdeveloped country with lots of natural resources.
I understand they discovered oil and hopefully the Guyanese will move forward.

Sounds like you had a great experience in Guyana. Just one correction; Cheddi Jagan was the fourth president of Guyana; not the first. The first president was Sir Arthur Chung, a Guyanese of Chinese descent. After the constitution was changed and Guyana became a Republic, the first elected President was Forbes Burnham. After his death he was succeeded by Desmond Hoyte until Jagan was elected President in the early 90's. Jagan was the first president of Indian descent.
