When JaVonne said $300 for Niyah's instant Locs....my mouth dropped for real. That was not in any form, or shape to be considered instant Locs. The thing with Locs and kids..... is that kids change their minds real quick...and I would have let Niyah get either two-strand twist or comb coils to start her Locs. Because of the thickness of her hair....she needs them to be smaller in size.

Yes..somebody had to pick my mouth off the floor. No offense but her hair DID NOT look good at all. The stylist should have known better. I know her mom told her how she wanted it but, as a professional hairstylist "AINT" no way that stylist should have even attempt to finish her hair like that. My daughter has the thickness of her hair with some good ole Carols Daughter hair product and some regular twist with her natural hair it would have been fine. I agree a child changes their mind easily. Niya is not even my child but I am mad as hell on how her hair looks. 😠

i agree .. i just personally feel like because niyah was young she thought she would just go with it . kinda upset me to her hair that way . she said “ like mine medium size “ the sizing is no where near the same . if she knew her hair was thicker then yours regardless of anything it should been way more dreads then that in her head . love y’all & remember niyah you’re beautiful regardless !

Niyah didn't want them in the first place. She was forced to get them because Jay, Dejah, Yanna, and Javonne have them. Javonne wanted them for Niyah. All of their locs look terrible. They don't need to go back to that lady...or get locs in general. None of them take care of their hair
I would take the locs down. It seems like she's not happy. I wouldn't make it permanent if you're not happy with them.

Why did that lady let Niyah walk out like that. She as a stylist should've look and saw that her hair was too thick for medium size locs. I know she wouldn't let her child go to school or walk out looking like that. She should've re did them. Jay actually did a pretty good job, he should've did them instead of paying her $300

Get Nyiah the loc extensions. Then after maybe 6-months to a year cut the extensions off bc her real hair will be loc’d and long enough to wear it naturally. My mom went that route and she loves it
If you all not satisfied with Niyah hair you should've spoken up right away and not paid for the service. Can't imagine walking in seeing Baby girl like that and not complain or asking what's up with her hair? Why isn't it flat? Brittney was dead wrong for that! And as a "professional" at least notified you that the style needed to be smaller for her hair texture. How was Niyah even allowed to walk out of her shop looking like that? Wrong on so many levels. I would've still complained even after the fact (if it took time to think about it). Y'all done paid her enough off 3 heads (now 4), that she should've been aiming to fix/please. Also, why are you coming to a decision about Niyah's hair without asking her what she wanted. You're discussing it with Jay, but you should have with Niyah. Also, I feel like you made Niyah get locs and it wasn't really a choice of hers.

Niyah has similar hair to Dejah and Yanna, so you should’ve told her like their size. How does Niyah like them? I think if she doesn’t like them, you should take them down. It could take a toll on her confidence.

We all had those times with our hair, when at the time we wanted to cry or actually cried and a lil later or years later was able to look back and laugh. Im glad that y'all was able to laugh together about it and I was laughing with you. Niaya is a beautiful girl, I know you are going to help hook it up for her. Niya seems so unhappy with her hair and kids love trying new styles she’s getting older and may want to change her hair style more often not just hairstyles wit locs

I've had locs almost my whole life and I'm 40+ ,the size of the hair is great ,because as the hair grows out and all the retwist it will change ,but what the hair stylist needed to do is what jay did ,which is pin the hair as close to her scalp as possible and pin the root ,the more the hair forms ,the more it will hold the form of the twist ,you can also do styles that will help keep the form ....
Does she really want locs ? She seems really unhappy about them maybe take them down and let her decide wholeheartedly what she wants . Locs are not for everyone
Maybe it's not the fact that she doesn't want locs, she probably didn't like the way the lady did her locs. Some people who do instant locs sometimes come out looking a hot mess.

Overall It’s how Naya feel about them. Sometimes stylists are great with adults and not with kids. I use to style hair and have had some difficult tasks. I and most of the ladies I know would have called you after that first twist and been like Javonne hun we can’t make this size work. I’m gone have to do them smaller. She could have made a solution. Just my opinion. Love the vlog. Naya’s getting so tall too. Y’all rock!💜
I was thinking the exact same thing… like once you started the first one or even the second… doesn’t matter if Javonne left… you call her and let her know they need to be smaller… I’m sure she would not have mind paying more… just make sure they come out the way she would want her own hair to be walking out of a salon!!!!

I got lots around the same age as niyah and it’s already hard enough being that age and having your hair not be the norm and only gets harder throughout middle school… you should ease that by taking her somewhere else to get them done.

I would’ve communicated to the stylist that you didn’t like her finished style. $300 is a lot of money for a dissatisfied service…. The stylist is dead wrong for that but same time we have to speak up too because sometimes they want to act like they don’t see the problem unless we say something. I would call Brittany and let her know how you feel and possibly ask for your money back or for her to re-do them. She should be understanding especially since she did your hair, Yanna and Dejah. But I wouldn’t even go to her again or give any of your money to her after that…. Yanna and Jay can just hook everyone up in the house 💞. And if Niyah doesn’t want locs anymore, then box braids always looked great on Niyah too!

I'm sorry but this woman is a stylist and eventhough you told her what size. She should have examined her hair and told you that she wouldn't recommend them that size. You daughter has thick hair and needed a smaller size. She did your daughter hair real sloppy. That wasn't a $300 dollar job. I feel you should have voiced your opinion to her in the middle of doing your daughter hair. I still don't understand why would she even finish it like that. My daughter had locs as well. They took they time doing her starter locs. The Africans even do a better job than she did.

Niyah definitely needed smaller parts. And because her hair is so thick, she may have been better off with starter locs or shorter lol extensions. She has the PERFECT thickness for starter locs.
I would suggest starting over because they are only going to get thicker and with the size they are now, she may not like how big they’ll look or how thick they’ll look at the roots.
Watching this with my wife, I would suggest she get smaller ones. I have locs and certain parts of my hair are thicker and those ticker ones always are in need of a retwist before the other ones. So I believe hers will keep unravelling quickly at roots after retwists.
My thing is why didn't you tell the stylist you were unsatisfied before yawl left, why bring it straight to TH-cam? Now ya lil "nieces" are cursing tht woman out🤦🏽♀️ Yes as a professional she should have known better, but you as a mother should have spoken up for your child.

Isn't a consultation required to get them? Maybe instant locs are not the best method for Niya's hair thickness. Idk, I would just take them out if possible. Niya is young and may not truly want that type of hair commitment. Either way, you gone have your baby looking good regardless.
i think the smaller locs would have looked way better because of her thickness but hopefully they'll grow on her

With her hair texture, her locs will be super chunky when they mature. You might want to half them and do a 2 strand twist start. Her parts need to be fixed too.
Why would you pay someone to mess up your hair? If they weren't setting correctly the stylist should have e made the correction or called. But should never have allowed the clie to to walk out like that. Nothing about that situation was professional.
That’s not medium those look like large locs for her hair density. As a hair stylist she knew she was wrong for that letting a client walkout like that.

The loc size are perfect for her. You would’ve probably combined them in the long run. She should’ve never let Niyah leave looking like that and style it to to keep her hair down. I think you should re wash and retwist them. Even though she has thick hair stay away from gel and wax.

Her hair is naturally thick I would’ve just let her gotten traditional locs with her natural hair or I would just take them out and find someone else to redo her hair because she has to be completely comfortable with them especially at that age.
