The Independence is how I found VGG. Was scrolling through TH-cam for something to watch and I saw the thumbnail with Derek and Independence and immediately I clicked on and been watching since. I began watching from 1st ever VGG to catch up and been watching since. I really miss seeing her on the channel. Like today even seeing a small piece of her made me happy. Can't wait until she comes back. Love that car. She means a lot to me.

I figured out why VGG is so watchable! VGG is the fantasy land we all want to live in. Derek never gets mad, never rips the skin off his knuckles, has the tools he needs and things work when he's done. Also, he's always actually working instead of just sitting around watching TH-cam.

I recently went thru neck surgery and while at home healing I found your channel. Its like hanging out with an old friend, working on cars, talking shop. I grew up in a Michigan drag racing family and have been in the garage helping my dad since I can remember. Your work reminds me so much of our own approach to fixing things... careful diagnostic and planning to avoid unnecessary work and expense. I continue to do my own work on cars, motorcycles, campers... you name it. And I especially appreciate your light heart and no swearing. God bless you and keep it coming, Derek! This was an epic episode, really love all the in depth of the knick knacks. You always see bolting the engine in, and next thing you know its running. The power steering just magically happens. That said, those lines are bastids... even the correct line for the exact application often fights ya 😅

Like a brand new line from O'Reilly with the wrong thread pitch I tried to put on.....dang metric crap looking similar and whatnot. After trying to thread it into a pump for 30 minutes I finally held it next to the other one and had a little breakdown, and then got a ride to get the correct hose.....

You now have the best channel on TH-cam in my opinion. Just keep doing more of the same great stuff and trust in your intuition as it’s always been spot on.

Magnaflow one of the better brands in terms of quality- excellent welds, a lot of pride in their internal baffling/packing etc. as a wholesaler usually the only time we saw returns on then was if it had a dent in transport! stainless is also so important when you consider the issues of condensation/heat/rust- a big cause of blowouts in mild steel mufflers!

G'day Derek :) I am so jealous of your subscribers in the US of A. I would KILL to get my hands on that car. I had a 1970 Valiant VG Coupe with a 360 and 727 auto. It looked as rough as a piece of 36 grit sanding disc. Faded gold metalic paint with primer patches where I had cut out the rust and welded in new metal patches. It had a 600 holley, Pacemaker headers with 3" collectors. It had some strange home made mufflers and exited at the rear of the car. This car went way better than it looked. Im in Brisbane, Australia so no chance of winning your car. Keep up the great work. I throughly enjoy your videos. Trust me when I say I feel your pain at times. Been there, done that. Im 64 years old and am a self taught mechanic. I have been playing with cars since I was 12. Did my very first car restoration when I was 17. It was a 1963 EJ Holden Station Wagon. Would love to meet you some day. Need to win the lotto to make that happen lol/ Keep up the good work mate. Cheers Pete

Great build! The little Duster was the economy two door sedan for that make. It did have a performance package and styling available. But what you saw on the road mostly was the economy package. So not much of a muscle car . Great work so far on the engine build and choice of muffler's. Clean up the interior and clean up the exterior/paint. The current tires are a very good brand and quality / size combination. Cheers and keep on bringing us such great content!!!!! Take more time out for yourself,,,REST,,, Family time there . Great show.
