Lumagen Radiance Pro 4446 - The How and Why we need a new upgrade!

An insight into the development of the Cinemike Final Edition modification of the Lumagen Radiance Pro 4446.
From our point of view, the Lumagen video processor is indispensable in high-end installations. In order to improve the already good basic device even further, we have been offering various modifications for years.
In the past, we have always noticed slightly fluctuating performance with the Lumagen under different processor loads due to different firmwares & LUT usage. Cinemike has now solved this problem with a further tuning stage "Final Edition" which includes additional tweaks for interference suppression and stabilization of the main processor supply.

Except the audio doesn't get processed AT ALL by the FPGA (main processor).

Also, you make a measurement and say that it "could" be that the main board is unstable with the new firmware. Instead of ripping apart the unit, why not measure the board with firmware that you think sounds good and see if there is a change rather than just leave the firmware and mess with the hardware? Wouldn't it make sense to actually objectively measure the same output that you think is unstable with various firmwares?? This would show if the firmware is actually changing anything rather than assuming it does.

The video does not tell the whole story; yes, it's a bit simplistic. I would not call it a MOD, as many people do MODS, and in my experience, they make things worse. It was developed over a year of testing, as you said, in a standard loop test and restest ect. This is re-engineering. Cinemike is a savant when it comes to this. Jim is a genius in the first place for being able to create this and solve the issues, as well as his patented scaling, which is a secret company sauce as much as others try and make sweeping statements that it's just someone's known algorithm. I have tested the hell out of this over the last month when they were at a final version. The video doesn't show all the failed versions testing in the way you have mentioned. The beauty of an FPGA design is every time you have a new synthesis you have a new piece of hardware. It is not limited like a non-FPGA solution is, in which you would have to change the hardware every time. Which is very very costly and ultimately means it's a totally new product. FPGAs mean you can do that by rewriting the design of the chip. The issue with FPGAs is they are not cheap. GPUs are mass-market products, so it's cheaper for them just to make a new chip every six months and sell you new hardware. NVIDIA is set to become the world's biggest company as they have got this down to a fine art, and the world needs their AI GPUs @$50k a pop to change the world.
Like all things, you can't comment or make any judgment if you have not seen or heard it for yourself. I make the trip regularly to their place as that's the only way to see if it's making an improvement. I am a customer and have paid money for their work. Anyone who knows me will know I don't spend money unless it's worth it. In my professional world, I have sued people who don't deliver what they say. I am the biggest sceptic, and people come to me all the time with equipment to test and things they think make the world better. Most don't! If you can afford it, it is a great option if you can't, then the regular Lumagen is still the best video processor you can buy. If you have the money, then the Cinemike Lumagen (the same software) will give better results only if you have the equipment to match. If you have a question, go ask Cinemike himself like I did go see! I am learning every day. That's what gets me up in the morning. GO see it and get a demo! Then you can all make informed comments!
