Hey Greg! Your channel inspires us. We looked for you while passing through Canal Flats this summer, we talked to a friend of yours at the Family Pantry. Excited to see the mouse trap fish catcher 2.0!
You're a humble fellow who wants to share your enthusiasm and outdoor skills to others, w safety in survival situations a priority. Good on you Greg..Love all of your videos. Finn is the best too.
Greg you are the best outdoors man on you tube by far..you are the real deal and I enjoy your videos I've been a fan for years...thank you very much...
Greg, you gotta put the chains on top of the tire first and then drive on to them. Put the empty links to the front and the side with the cam to the back. The cams always have to be on the outside. Hope this helps.
In Maine we don’t usually get slush on the ice till we get enough snow to weight the ice down forcing the water through the fishing holes. Or we get rain or snow melt and the water sits between the ice and snow.
This is why i love watching you're channel Greg.. the creative and innovative ways you come up with for many different situations like stuffing cattail fluff into you're summer jacket to make a winter coat or catching fish with mouse traps or just finding stuff and repurposing it into something useful :)
2:05 The open water holes is probably an indication of the current flowing through that area which prevents the ice from forming up because moving water freezes much slower and a lot less thicker than standing water. The slush coming up above the ice is most likely from the snow that’s melting over the ice but isn’t freezing over because it’s not exposed to the cold air. It’s something I always see while ice fishing here in California, warm temps during the day and fresh snow always creates a slushy ice that’s always worrisome to walk on especially in the early season.
You answered your own question with your gut telling you that the lake isn't as frozen as it normally is, and you still went out there, lmao. That's why you listen to your gut.
We often have this water on ice here in north-west Russia. It is ok. We walk and fish and snowmobil on this. Sometimes it is nearly shin-deep tho and is just not comfortable, but no danger if you know the ice is thick
Happy New Year to you and Finn and your family! Love the scenery, so beautiful! You are such and innovator, love it! Thank you for another wonderful video! Have a great day!
Oh I didn't think anybody used changes like that anymore you wouldn't believe how many sets of chains I have hanging up around my place from different sized cars and trucks I used to own I used to just make my own just add or subtract
You are the Man Greg, i.e. a true mountain man and a legend in my mind. I have only known one mountain man in my life time, he is from Riggins Idaho. But he wasn't very talkative before the first half bottle of Jack was consumed. I can't wait to make one of your mouse trap fishing rigs. However I might super size it with a rat trap. For the muskies and walleyes in Lake Cascade half way to Riggins from Boise.
Another great video Greg. It's important to show how accidents can happen. I hope you pack extra socks and another pair of boots on your treks. I've seen people put their socked feet into a milk bag before putting them in their boots. Stay safe you two!
The thing about springs is that each year new springs can open up either due to being clogged in past years by silt or other matter. Rule of thumb: no ice is ever safe regardless of how thick it is! Best way to check is drill a hole near shore to get a rough idea and then test holes as you go out or spud bar! Always have ice picks on in case you go through
I'm not sure why the lake is like that. Best to be safe. Glad you made it out to another lake. A nice looking brookie. I wish you all the best in 2025. Cheers, Greg! ✌️🇨🇦
Ice fishing is a no go here in NH this year. Some folks think the ice will be strong by the end of winter but I know it won't, we never get strong winters here on the seacoast.
Hi greg, yet another amazing episode 😊and im loving tbe mouse trap fishing line so simple but so effective!!your approach to living of the grid and bush craft with no bullshit!! and the way you over come your current situation with the para cord and snow chains truely inspiring..
Watching you in the snow, it’s 38C in Melbourne Australia today. Sitting with the air conditioning on high. 😂. Great video. I always enjoy them. I just wish it snowed more in Australia.
Nice fish Greg! Hey I've been watching another fella named @Joe Holland, a Mainer who I reckon you and Zack could have a few fun videos with next time you're there if you hit him up! Just an idea, right on!
I have had a theory that fall and spring have moved back a month or so since I was a kid. December back in the day was the middle of winter, now it’s the beginning
Awesome video and a unique way to catch fish, and that was a really big Brookie! Love your videos! If you’re ever find yourself in Wisconsin I would love to do some fishing with you someday! Keep those videos coming!

The man the myth. He who finds comfort in the arms of nature. Greg opens up his world to us, we can just kick the snow off our feet and step right in.

Hey I've been watching another fella named @Joe Holland, a Mainer who I reckon you and Zack could have a few fun videos with next time you're there if you hit him up! Just an idea, right on!
Don't forget to air down when driving in the snow. You will have more traction. Make sure you don't turn the front wheels to far to break the beed.
I have had a theory that fall and spring have moved back a month or so since I was a kid. December back in the day was the middle of winter, now it’s the beginning
Happy Camping in 2026! I'm look forward to your using a shelter to camp in this winter.

Happy New Year Greg. Can't wait to see more this year!!!!!!
The steel might give before that parachord. Awesome vid
Good stuff Greg!! I’m hoping it gets cold enough here to make some ice!
The wildest part of all your adventures is that you do it in a Ford. That takes some real balls of steel.

Nice trout . Compliments on taking the dog along .
Love it. I got my trusty !Green Hornet! (Grumpy old Men)my cousin made for me.
Nice one Greg,❤
See ya on the next one.🎉
Snow chains are specific for the tire size. It's always better to just own a set of snow tires for the season.
Just letting you know I really enjoy watching your videos. Great stuff
Another cracking video Greg ❤
