I love what Professor Aciman said about the style of writing. I think he is the only writer who talks about style in a way that is accessible (the other writer who talked about style in an accessible way is Arnold Bennett). But the paragon of style for me is Proust as he put it as follows in his novel, (Within A Budding Grove, Madame Swann at Home): " "Habit forms the style of the writer just as much as the character of the man, and the author who has more than once been patient to attain, in the expression of his thoughts, to a certain kind of attractiveness, in so doing lays down unalterably the boundaries of his talent."
