Great story of owners, a Fleming 55 and their adventures in Scotland. This explorer boat suits their owners, and is capable of dealing with whatever she met on the voyage to Largs. Rough for humans but boat fine. Never thought she'd be able to not only the sea but canals. Versatile
Can we all just take a quick pause to acknowledge just how much work went into the filming of this. TWENTY FOUR YEARS it took. 2+ decades of patiently waiting for the sun to make an appearance 'North of the Border'. Then the mad dash to get all the equipment setup & the film rolling to get the 8.426 seconds of sun that the Scottish Isles gets per year. Bravo all I say
Thanks to Pam and Garth for sharing their adventures. The seaworthiness of Fleming yachts was certainly proved by the passage from Falmouth and Largs. What an epic cuouple who are enjoying their boat. Thanks to you Nick for bringing their Story to us. Definitely your best meet the owner to date
Ill say this again, people who own and travel on boats are lovely genuine humans. Pam & Garth reinforce that. Also what I appreciate is as an interviewer you let people tell their stories with minimum interruption. That's a rare commodity in this day. Well done once again.
What a fascinating watch. I followed their route on Google Maps as they described the locations they visited. I’m extremely jealous of what must have been a trip of a life time. Thanks for putting together a fantastic video, Nick.
I have fished, dived, caravaned, and travelled all over Scotland. It's an amazing place. Pishing of rain a good percentage of the time bit still amazing. Go see it in any season.
What a fabulous story, very lucky people to be able to do that kind of adventure, oh how I wish I had applied myself more to making the income to enjoy such pleasure in my later life. Excellent video Nick.
Thanks to Pam & Garth for sharing their adventure and to Nick. A reallly enjoyable vlog. It loks like the Flemming is now firmly part of their family. ( No dogs on the bus sounded odd.)
I rarely comment on YT videos. Have followed this channel for years (love it). I absolutely adored this hour for so many reasons. Thank you to Pam and Garth for agreeing to share and their candidness. ❤

What a great video. Love your channel Nick, it’s been a good distraction for me since I lost my dad Wednesday. Great to see people living the dream ☺️🙏
@@AQUAHOLIC Just finished. Living in Scotland I've always wanted to see what it would be like to cruise around the islands up here in a Nordhavn or Fleming. Better than I could imagine. Good luck that they stopped by Dartmouth on the way so you could make this happen.
@@colinrickman4126 Glad you enjoyed it! It was pure fluke bumping into Pam, five mins later and neither of us would have known the other was there. Kind of her to stop and say hello. 🙂
What a wonderful adventure, Pam and Garth are great storytellers and their Fleming is not only a dream boat but a dream maker……well done everyone! Thank you Nick
I could easily watch this again. What a great couple Pam and Garth are and your relaxed style of interviewing, really made this a hugely enjoyable and informative video.
The Fleming is my dream yacht. Stories like this only further cement my appreciation of the design and engineering details Fleming’s are famous for. Well done with great people. Much appreciated!!
"The Joy of Life Afloat" really rings true in this story. Thank-You, Pam and Garth for sharing your adventure with us. And Thank-you, Nick for the fine job putting it on film and sharing it here with the world. Great job, I am looking forward to seeing more of these type videos in the future. Cheers from British Columbia, CA.
Thank you Nick, Pam, & Garth for part 2 of 'meet the owner'. It was very interesting to hear their story & all about their big 8 week adventure (very scenic/beautiful).
We were having a massive extension put on the house, we bought a Predator 72 on sight but mooring in the Med in August was way too expensive ... Hmmmm. I almost felt sorry for you. Just kidding, I would love to sail around the Med (but not in August obviously) and have enjoyed listening to your story. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.
what a lovely couple who are adament on what they can achieve with their fleming 55, the scottish trip was amazing and garth was honest about how he finds the difference between sail and motor navigation and the tides different. I think they've got the perfect explorer yacht to carry on doing the trips to far away places like scotland and later on to sweden. A brilliant "Meet the Owner" with Garth and Pam nick.
Just goes to show with the right kind of vessel, the right kind of training along with careful planning and you can go wherever your confidence feels like, with friends and family along instead of paid crew all the more enjoyable. Thank you both (and Nick) so much.
Very jealous! Pam and Garth are living my dream! And on a beautiful boat, thanks for sharing their experience and stories, fascinating and encouraging! Great work Nick!
What an amazing trip. I loved this. I have always been enamoured with Flemings and Nordhavens. They seem so practical and functional. Aquaholic is my enabler. Thanks for sharing this great story.
Nice Journey. A guy I worked with when I was an apprentice had been in the navy. He showed me photos he took going down the Bristol Channel. Brown trouser weather was all you could call it. Some of the welding around the bow needed repairs after the sea had done its work. So fair play to them for forging ahead. Although in bad weather its often safer to carry on, as it can sometimes be too dangerous to turn about.
Fantastic interview-would make a TV series. If i ever have enough to afford a Fleming i'll get my wife to watch this- Pam &Garth are a very natural couple & sold the boat & adventure very well - one of the best programs i've seen for a while.
Oh just wonderful - really one if not the best film you have done. This couple have found their own paradise and the experience they convey was just perfect - a simple stream of consciousness told naturally. Thank you three - they should have a channel of their own travels.
What a treat this was, thank you Pam and Garth for sharing your Scottish adventure and other travels with us, congrats on your amazing boat, she is a thing of beauty and seems to be the ultimate travel companion😀 Thanks to you Nick for this fabulous film it was a great watch! 👏👍😀
A great story and a great boat. Thanks to Pam and Garth for sharing it and thank you for bringing it to us. If I could afford it, I would definitely pick a Fleming, probably the 58. If I wanted to spend a little less of the money I don't have, then maybe a Sirena 58 or a Sasga Menorquin 54, to keep the semi-displacement hull theme going. Thanks again for a great video.
Wonderful - been sat in my 'to watch' list since it dropped but wanted to have an interrupted hour to watch it. Thanks Pam, Garth - lovely to hear you talk with so much passion and enthusiasm about your time onboard. My wife and I are hoping to do similar over the next few years
Well done Nick a great interview of the owners Pam & Garth and there Fleming, been waiting for this one. Yes I did spot the name drop (Jim Davidson). !988 Fort William to Inverness via Neptune's Staircase to Loch Ness as Coxswain of HMS Cygnet one of three bird class patrol boats back in the day. Plus we have dogs names Iona, Harris, Sky and Taran short for Taransay.
Nick, you have surpassed yourself. Absolutely love the video. Some great footage at the start followed by a very informative chat. Pam and Garth come across as really nice people who just about anybody could get along with. They seemed to be very in tune with each other and so open with others. I love that they gave each other the space to speak without interruptions. That chat just flowed so easily and seamlessly. As for the Fleming 55, it has now moved to the top of my list. Five-meter waves on the bow and she just crested every single one of them. Sounds like it was well hairy, but the boat looked after them. What a sea keeper that is. Well done all for a great video.
How the other half live, and I don't begrudge this lovely couple one little bit. What a wonderful chat to listen in on. I felt I was watching a documentary for some reason. Thankyou for all your hard work in giving your viewers hours of enjoyment. Very best wishes.

After watching this I've just added the Hebrides area to my "if I won the.....and bought a " day dream list of places I'd visit. So, a tip of the hat to you for the video, a tip of the hat to the couple for showing their boat and retelling the story.
