I had a feeling that if I continued, I might lose the groove, so I decided to give up playing the ride cymbal in detail and play simple notes. This resulted in a good take as the overall groove was maintained. Your listening skills and passion for drumming are excellent. If you can't hear the notes, you can't play them. Lol Sometimes I listen practice practice, get almost perfect then I notice that actually there is a slight another hit at the cymbal or hi-hat. I'm sure Tico played it improvised while recording as you say goong with the groove, but I cannot help it. Last month, I learned Black Old Sun.
