Saving the Bay - Fish Tales: Salmon and Herring Fisheries of San Francisco Bay

At their inception in the 1800s, fisheries in San Francisco Bay experienced a bonanza. But by 1900, rampant exploitation of many species, including salmon, caused a collapse of Bay fish populations and the fishing industry dependent on them. Today, there is only one commercial fishery in operation on San Francisco Bay.
