:Fair use is a legal doctrine that promotes freedom of expression by permitting the unlicensed use of copyright-protected works in certain circumstances. Section 107 of the Copyright Act provides the statutory framework for determining whether something is a fair use and identifies certain types of uses-such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research-as examples of activities that may qualify as fair use. This is one of my favorite Doors songs, and I enjoy listening to it as much today as I did when I first heard it in the 1960's. It was used in a famous movie called Apocalypse Now, and if you noticed the helicopters in the video, they depicted a scene from the movie. I think that whoever wrote that note for you described the song well. The song has different themes, but no specific message (take away as you say). It is written in a way where you can take what you want from it. Like good poetry, it creates images in your mind that play with emotions. Jim Morrison was one of the biggest rock stars in the world at the time. He sadly died from a drug overdose. I enjoyed hearing this song on your channel.

This was released in 1967 on their debut album "The Doors"
Francis Ford Coppola used this during the opening scene to set the tone for his 1979 film "Apocalypse Now"

This Song Would Make A Good Dirge ... Funeral Procession ... People Crying ... Lamenting ... This Song Playing As The Casket Is Slowly Lowered Into The Ground ...
I Have Always Enjoyed Listening To This Song ... I Find It Interesting ...
Although It Is A Little On The Dark Side ... But I Like It Like That ...
    Thanks Fay

"The End" is the last song on The Doors 1967 debut album. It makes quite a statement. Most of the other songs on that album are barely three minutes long, except for "Light My Fire", which is seven minutes. Radio stations played a shortened version of that. Only the more daring radio stations played "The End" and then likely later at night. At eleven minutes in length, "The End", makes a spectacular finish to an all time classic record. Lyrics wise, Morrison took some psychology and philosophy classes at UCLA. The father-mother dynamic in the lyrics is straight outta Freud and Sophocles. And the bit about the ancient lake points towards the book "The Golden Bough" by James George Frazer which Morrison often looked to for lyrical inspiration. Now, from what I've heard, the buses in Santa Monica back then were painted blue and the distance to the nearest lake from there was seven miles on El Camino Real, aka, the King's Highway, a historic California route first blazed by Spanish missionaries way way back. It's a testament to Morrison's talent that he could so readily turn the mundane into the mystical with his lyrics and performance.

Such a haunting song and piece of music. Although almost always linked to the Vietnam war this song is actually about dark difficult personal conflicts in intimate relationships (girlfriend and parents)

He’s tripping big time, apocalypse baby. Sad that he joined the dead 27 club of the greatest artist. RIP Jim Morrison

I believe a lot of the lyrics in this song is some of Jim Morrison's poetry he wrote. Mysterious & dark, don't try to figure it out.

You didn’t feel it. Find the movie, Apocalypse Now. Watch it beginning to end. Then listen again. Beware the rabbit hole.

Jim Morrison 1of the greatest poet's ever, wich is what this is. Read it u will understand way more about Jim, his feelings, metaphors , his feelings of having an American Indian in his soul. He has poetry books. Robbie , Ray , John, Jim are one of the greats !! Please read his poetry ur not American and thats great but you don't get him its easy to tell.

This song expresses the mental torment of a generation during the Vietnam war, the JFK assassination, in which many of us thought LBJ was complicit, which was also seen in violence, the breakup of families, and the use of hard drugs.
