Hi i havent been able to move my whats app for years. I am stuck with my old phone. I have possibly over 100gb of whats app data and it doenst backup properly. The phone size isnt showing correctly due to the icloud grey area. So there may be more on whats app than i can see. What do you think about the potential for data loss. Can the QR code guarantee a move of all data? is it likely that i will lose recent calls?? and what else could i lose? Thank you!

5:07, could you explain this for me? I have a big WhatsApp storage, about 15 gigabytes, if i want to backup it to google drive do i have to free up another 15 gigabytes?? Are you sure about this? Or it just do it temporarily for some small files and then delete them and then starts with another small file and like this?

Backing up to Google drive doesn't free up any extra space in your phone, just keeps a duplicate of what's in your phone on Google drive as back up. My method of WhatsApp transfer is about moving WhatsApp to a new phone and when you successfully do, you can delete WhatsApp from the the old phone. If your WhatsApp is up to 15 GB and you want to move it, then use my style. If you want to free up some space on your current phone, then you can delete some old videos sent to you via WhatsApp.

6:50, you copied the media folder also, will the media from inside WhatsApp chats work by this way?

Yes. Just make sure you do a local backup before proceeding to copy so you do not lose chat history

@@SmartDepot thank you, but why if i moved a document from the WhatsApp app folder and then i bring it back, then it didnt work in whatsapp (chat). It is the same way

Don't move documents because you'll alter the date/time stamp and once that happens, the chat history will reject it due to security reasons

oh, got it, thank you, but what is the difference between this and your manually copying method? (They are all altering the date/time stamp once copied)

It's starts April 2024 and could get to July 2024. It will not roll out globally same time for everyone. You will get a 30 days notice and the WhatsApp backup to Google drive will now count against your free storage
