      thanks Eva,, we now have over 30 "mother citrus plants" that we are always growing. We drink lemon tea all winter long as our Meyer trees love to produce fruit during the cold months (greenhouse). The summer they grow new leaves and stems and produce many flowers in late fall. Thanks for watching and commenting!!

    Hi Marcelina, I’m watching this again. I cannot find your previous video on how to create a milkcrate potting. I wanna try this maybe on springtime. I wanna ask, what kind of material did you use Tom wrap the milkcrate? This way I know what fabric to buy for this particular project. Btw I bookmarked this.

      HI Angela,, you will want to find a good quality weed guard. Do not get the cheapest you can find as you will be replacing it at the end of each season from just deteriorated from UV. You will love this self root pruning method of growing citrus and other larger plants. here is the link to build milk crate planter th-cam.com/video/Jhrxg8tKqro/w-d-xo.html good luck Angela,, let me know how that worked for you :) Happy New Year

    I have a 3 foot Calimansi tree I just planted on the ground. Its not in a pot. Will it still grow properly? I dug a hole on the ground and bought miracle grow and potting soil and place it around the tree trunk. Also place sticks around the trunk for stability. Please let me know if I'm doing right. Also I water once a week as I've read.

      check your soils pH, if you do not have the correct pH your citrus will not be able to absorb the nutrients, also do not over water your citrus,,

    Hello po, i just got my calamondin plant and have a lot of questions. lol My dwarf calamondin is about 3 ft tall and in a 5 gal pot. I bought it as a shifter plant going into a 15 gal. I am in California right now but will be moving to Washington state in march of next year. I plan on keeping the plant in a container so that i can easily move it inside during winter months. I watched your video about citrus plants and you mentioned something about air pruning. My first question is, if i was to repot it into an air pruning pot, how long can i keep it in the pot without filling the pot with roots? Is it possible for the plant to become root bound in an air pruning pot? Or can i keep in the pot for a very long time? Or will i have to remove it and remove roots so that it can stay in the pot? Is the plant going to be okay even though it has so many roots in the pot? Can i keep my plant at 5 gal with how tall it is and use an airpruning pot or should i repot it in a 15 gal maximum size and use air pruning pot to keep it at that size pot for its lifespan? Last few questions na po.. lol So when is the best time to transplant the plant? It is bearing lots of little fruits and flowering at the moment and if i was to repot it now, will it disturb the fruiting and flowering? THANK YOU, po. I hope to hear from you soon!

    • @marcelinanoss8825
      @marcelinanoss8825  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      wow,, longest comment ever! You will not have to repot it if its in an air layer pot,, 10 gallon is best as it will be easier for you to move as well.. In an air layering pot, the roots will grow to the edge of the pot and they will stop, they will not spiral around as in other plastic pots. the only time you will need to remove the pot is about every 2 years to change the soil as it will become depleted of nutrients. Your plant will thank you. As for the time to repot, Id wait until you harvest the fruit, the blossoms will be fine. But we dont want to stress the plant while its in fruiting mode. No rush to repot at this time.

      marcelina noss thank you po sa pagreply. Another question po. I started noticing that some of the newer fruits, the ones just just formed after flowering turns yellow and die. I’m not sure if that’s normal or something is going on with my plant? I also noticed lighter spots in the newer leaves and slightly curl inward of the leaves? Could something be wrong ?

    • @jams118765
      @jams118765 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      marcelina noss I’m not sure if it’s due to environment change? Since it’s indoors and it was used to getting full direct sunlight at the nursery.

    your calamansi did you plant seed or marcot?

  • @lovealwaysjasmine
    @lovealwaysjasmine 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was given calamansi seeds. Can I grow it in regular soil or coco coir? Do I need citrus soil? How many seeds per container should I plants once they germinate? Also could I use a fabric pot?

    • @marcelinanoss8825
      @marcelinanoss8825  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      to begin with, first soak your seeds for 12 hours, remove the hard outer shell, use coco coir in a seed tray . Use a heat mat set to 70F which will speed up germination time. Once the seedlings are about 3 inches tall you can transplant them into 4 inch pots> Use coco coir mixed with perlite 50/50 mix. Water them only when the soil gets dry. Citrus does not like to be in soaking wet soil. They like moisture but they dont like wet feet all the time. Use Citrus Tone fertilizer about once every 6 months. When they are about 12 inches tall you can trasfer into a gallon fabric pot. My favotite choice as the roots will self prune. Good Luck! :)

      @@lovealwaysjasmine calamonsi are hard to start by cuttings. You need really firm cuttings, remember, seed plants will take about 5 years before they will bear fruit. One seed per starter cup, cloth pots are best yes!! let me know how it goes ok ?
