So sorry about your Dad, I'm glad I watched til the end. I didn't know him, but I am sure he was a good man, because you're a good man. That's the best any father could ask for, a good son.

Railroad track drawing dyes for the press, PERFECT IDEA 💡. That slightly curved edge draws out nicely without huge peaks and valleys. ❤

Thanks! I appreciate you watching! I really like how they perform, I have a set of more aggressive drawing dies but usually just use the rr track ones.

Thanks! The press helps out so much, I forged a couple as gifts last Christmas and my press was down its alot of hammer work for sure. I'm hoping to upgrade to a newer one soon but this one has been great for what I have put it through. I appreciate you watching.

This will be one of my first blacksmithing projects. What would you suppose is the maximum usable length you could have drawn the spike while preserving an adequate gripping surface?

Look for a log splitter on facebook marketplace or craigslist, try to find one that needs a motor because they are cheap and you can get a motor from Harbor freight for like 80 dollars, then with just a little work you can have a forge press for next to nothing. I got mine the second year I was forging and I only ended up spending 300 dollars. If you plan on forging long term they are a game changer for sure. I appreciate you watching.
