This is for George Bruno. I was recently selected to be the hometown DJ on my local country station. By remembering things that you've said about your voice acting career. I tried to exercise the same principle.
That's funny how you can entertain the idea that others are right and you might be slightly broken, with positivity and humor. I can relate a little, but only up to 100k. 😂 But great info. Like running the first 4 min. Mile, I think it was, once accomplished, others see its possible, then more do it/break it.
Interesting take. When I play my solo acoustic gigs, I charge a certain flat rate for 3 hours. A lot of places are good with it. Some places are not. Some places I can negotiate with (depending the person I’m dealing with. For example: I play at a pizza place on the South End of Charlotte. The manager didn’t agree to my rate. He wanted to pay $100 less. I told him I couldn’t do that and he then suggested $50 more. I countered with his suggested amount plus a large pizza (their pizza is of the lord) and a bottle of wine (since they also carry great wines). He agreed. So, I made up my $50 via a little haggling, which I find fun. HOWEVER, I’m not so sure I would get any gigs at all were I to tell the managers of the establishments I’m trying to book for my shows 3, 4 or 5x higher. I’ll need to really think about that.
