I recently bought one of these as well, figure it would be a fun one to have about camp. If nothing else it brings back memories from when i was a kid, it was a knife I want away back in the day and never could afford one, I picked one up at Academy the other day on clearance for 14 bucks. I went back to buy couple more the then next day for gifts and they were all gone. Good buy especially for the money, I will make a leather sheath for mine soon,. I am running behind on leather gear, so it will be a week or so before i can get it done. Thanks for the video my friend, you did a great job, Thanks again and have a blessed week. Enjoyed the video, so we subbed you and look forward to seeing more from your channel.
I got mine for $7.00 after Black Friday sale. I can't complain. For that price, I'll use it as a disposable/emergency/one time use chopper. I plan on getting a Gerber StrongArm or Prodigy.
at 3:25 what I'm seeing is a Schrade 'Uncle Henry' Bowie knife blade, straight as a ruler. The Old Timer has much more 'belly' on the blade. I own both. So what are they doing....playing mix and match with the blades?
Great review. My sheath tore up and schrade sent me a new one free. As far as sharp? Your dang right it is outta the wrapper. Also schrade told me that serial and model number meant promotional knife.
i think the handle is too rectangular, i got one a while back and used it a few times, the first time i used it the old timer metal thing on the handle fell off
Ditto on the snap; it takes too much effort to close it. Love the blade, though, which in my opinion deserves a more secure, better-tailored handle. I'm thinking of replacing the handle, as you suggested. Otherwise, as you said, for $20 you'd need to do a lot of shopping to find one with such a beefy high-quality stainless blade.
Come on guys $20 ,I am 54 I have a Schrade stockman that sold for $35 when I was 14. As for using stainless steel ,well if it's 440c or better and heat treated right it's ok. But for $20 it's going to be 420 j2 and mass heat treated with dozens of other knifes at the same time. Schrade has a decades long reputation for great production knifes shame they no longer want to live up to it
It's a stainless blade the knife is about $20 and it twice what it's worth. They are garbage and the sheath is as well. Shrade old timer is not the knives they once were. Save your money and but something better
as it is in this video the knife is dull. next time try the paper test off camera first. this knife is snagging the paper all the way. There are plenty of inexpensive sharpeners out there but learning to sharpen a knife with stones and ceramics is a learned skill that is so valuable. You should have at least stropped this knife before the video. the knife is too dull to use effectively.

Hello am I too late for the giveaway of the knife Beautiful knife loved the sheets I live in northern Michigan post should be cheaper to send it to me OK I’ll be Checking my mailbox
Not a very good review in my book. Don’t even know what kind of steal the blade is. Lmao describe the sheath better than the knife. Lol the paper is sharper than the knife.
Alabama Bear Grylls the knife is named after Jim bowie. Pronounced "bouey" you stupid fuck. You can pronounce it either way, but "bouey" is the proper pronunciation.

As paper is made from trees, you are also showing the (Schra-dee), (how I learned to pronounce it when I sold them wholesale). for cutting wood!
Do you live near Joplin, MO? Just curious. Good review.

The paper test was a little funny but im thinking about buying this knife.
Thanks for showing us

what steel is it?
Last i checked my academy they was selling the winchester bowie knife 😥
i think the handle is too rectangular, i got one a while back and used it a few times, the first time i used it the old timer metal thing on the handle fell off
TmanGaming I dropped mine and the plastic handle broke lol
that looks like one dull knife, the paper test was really bad.

Dip the handle in flex seal
Genuinely a good idea! Might try it
That would mess up the beauty
Your name is just the letter A?
I paid $12.99 at Academy. Money well spent.
$9.00 Walmart

In 2004 Schrade started producing their knives in China and the lack of quality shows. At one time they made good hunting knives.
I have a knife identical to the one shown in the video case and all and it's definitely a high quality
How will does it sharpen
I bet he was! But really, mine sharpened well. Sorry you had a bad experience with yours.
cool my friend has a old timer pocket knife
If it's cold why are you outside? Nothing you did couldn't be done inside.
nothing wrong with a wide degree bevel! lasts longer for wood tasks in lower steels
Good blaid, but the Handel sucks. .
Dude, learn to spell.

stonebay2111 440c stainless has held an edge longer than my 1095 knives not saying this is 440c but 440c is good and cheap
@@michealk8053 naw if you buy a knife made from 440c with a good heat treat you mostly start much closer to the 100 dollar mark.
my knife gets rusty, i clean and dry it afterwards too
TmanGaming just give it a oil rub down every now and then
I got one. First time I tried to baton with it the edge bent. It's a piece of crap
I have one its a junk knife .but if you like the knife then thats all that matters.good jobs keep it up
I can thanks
+Tommy Lord Hey man you know it's a lot easier to press the reply button instead of posting a new comment every time, right? haha
+Ozark Survival thanks

Learning the kind of steel is the first thing any reviewer should do..

+Rainbow Space Unicorn I don't know if you have noticed yet but people all around the world have difference accents. I guess you're new to life.
You are a douche with zero skulls in life. Rainbow unicorn??? Really?
