    Another subscription from Iran. Happy to have you on YT too. I love your variegated bayeris/correctas and I wish to have most of them in my collection one day. Not only the haworthias but also triple red line Akadama and that special fertilizer. Looking forward to watch your next video. Best wishes

    • @rennyshaworthia
      @rennyshaworthia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you enjoy the video. If you can’t find akadama in Iran, you can use part pumice, part soil in 7:3 ratio. If your soil has organic materials, let the cuts dry for a day before potting up.

    Thank you for the videos. It's lovely to see your collection! I was wondering if you would be willing to answer a question: do you use the same potting media for offsets and seedlings (no or very fine roots)?

    How often do you water your haworthias? And fantastic and helpful video. Thank you!

    • @rennyshaworthia
      @rennyshaworthia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I water every 10 days during growing season, every 2 to 3 week during part dormant time ( in my climate, haws never really go completely dormant).

    Amazing capture as always,sorry for this dumb question 😅 after cutting the roots do you let them dry out then pot it? or just pot it and let it heal with the watered akadama.

    • @rennyshaworthia
      @rennyshaworthia  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I pot the plant right up, and water it.

    I love your plants. They are so beautiful! How often do you repot/replace the soil? What size do you use for the akadamas?

    • @rennyshaworthia
      @rennyshaworthia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Samantha, I try to repot every 3 years but most of the time I ran behind. The average is more like every 4 - 5 years. 😅

    No need to air dry after making those cuts?

    • @rennyshaworthia
      @rennyshaworthia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I don’t dry the cuts before potting up and watering because I find that it does more harm to the plant when the roots are exposed to the air and dried up. Akadama is very fast draining. As long as excess water drains out completely, watering right away will not harm the plant. Make sure water is not pooled in the center of the rosette though.

    No need to calous the wounds?
    Very hairy hands Renny 😂😂😂
    Keep up the good stuff coming we love your plants and now your videos

    • @rennyshaworthia
      @rennyshaworthia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      😂😂 so glad you brought it up! I was getting worried that Renny’s hairy fingers would be hot topic among haworthia growers. NO- those weren’t my hands. I was instructing and filming, Satoru was demonstrating.
      And no, I do not wait for callous. I water right away to make sure the roots are not dried up. Akadama works very well with this method.

    Amazing video and great help! Any idea for similar slow release fertilizer in European market?

    • @rennyshaworthia
      @rennyshaworthia  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately I don't know what is available in European market, but I know some growers in France and Italy who use Magamp-K. Maybe it is available in your country as well?

    What is that little tool you use to trim the stem?

    • @sabinpantis4149
      @sabinpantis4149 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its a spatula used by dentist. Bent and sharpened on purpose

    • @rennyshaworthia
      @rennyshaworthia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Tony, it is a trimming tool widely used by nurseryman in Japan. It is similar looking to what Sabin said but is much thinner and is made especially for making incision between leaves. I usually offer them in my webstore but it is currently out-of-stock.
