I would prefer a USB-powered device with microUSB or USB Type C input because it's much easier to find a cable with these ports in cell phone stores and even electronic stores since cell phones and other devices have microUSB and USB Type C for charging

When I spliced Black with Black and White with Red to another data USB cable to get a power extension, it only gives a flickering screen. (Did not test it for volt. Some devices are sensitive to even those small changes like I have a tablet that will not charge with some phone chargers just because of that. A few volts and a mini amp. still an interesting watch, especially unscrewing the 3.5 jack... I dont know if they are all like that or I just learned this after 44 years on this planet.

It shouldn’t matter, just use the same colors for your connector. Color 1 for power, color 2 for ground/negative.
