Finally, I gave a place to display my 1 Great Granny Squared Afghan. I used multicolored yarn & began my Granny Square. After a few rounds, I did a round with a bright white yarn. I just kept growing this 1 Granny Square. I did not evenly space apart the single white rounds, just when I felt like it. To make it a linger rectangle, I chose one side. Used DC across, ch 2, turn, resume DC across. Even here, I occasionally added a white row... even stitched 3 rows, then back to using the multicolored yarn, until I felt it was long enough. Now. @ 70, I have a new 3 cushion sofa, of black velvet & am using it beneath this huge & very colorful Afghan. It looks great, especially with those white rounds, to separate yo multicolored tows that read orange & yellow. At one point, I was flying to 👀 children & grandchildren. I coveted a 16" square pillow, each side a different set of colors & crocheted a DC strap. I hung this over the pulling handle of my suitcase on wheels, & used it as my pillow, on the plane. It often was a conversation starter, too!
In all of my years of crocheting, I have never made a granny square. So who do I count on to teach me?? Only the best. The best tutorials ever. Off to blocking!!
Thanks for the refresher on granny squares! I forgot how to make them and picked up a new book that had a very different pattern that seemed odd. Your way is what I learned from my Grandmother when I was very young.
So, I bought all the pretty Lori Holt yarn and hooks from FQS. Will add this to my cross stitch supplies and the avalanche of quilt stache. Maybe one day I will be able to get to it all. The granny square is one of my all time favorite patterns.
Eek, this was fabulous!! For those that are saying this is difficult to follow, there are amazing tutorials on YT to get proficient in crochet (adore Happy Berry Crochet here on YT) and you will be able to zip through Lori's tutorial for this awesome granny square. Love the finished product! Thank you 🌼
I believe this tutorial was intended for Beginners:: those whom already know how to crochet basic stitches - and was more for pattern/incorporating the crocheted square into a pincushion; I'd go back on to youtube, learn how to crochet, then come back to this tute to make the top! Try FibreFlux, Blossom Crochet, Jayda in Stitches, or Happy Berry Crochet!
I'm pretty sure she's speaking a different language... I must be below the "beginner" stage to the "completely helpless idiot" stage! She makes everything look so easy!
This was one tutorial that I had a hard time following. For someone who doesn’t crochet, I didn’t know what a double crochet was, I thought you went to fast for me to follow.
Hello Rebecca! Lori's granny squares were a little under 4" before she blocked them, which is shown in this video th-cam.com/video/mcyiau-MKZI/w-d-xo.html
It does say its a beginner project, but it apoears viewers will need to have some base knowledge of basic stitches such as chain and double crochet, etc. This seems to be a beginner level prohect video, but, not a learn to crochet level tutorial. I'm pretty sure she made a video for learning these badic how to stitches. Maybe she will read everyone's comments & add a link to that video and modify the video to say its a project video, not necessarily a learn to crochet video.
Angela Crawley granny squares are very very easy and perfect for beginners. Bur, this is a beginner level project video, and not a learn to crochet video. Title is misleading. She does hve a learn to crochet video out I think.
Alice Rollins Its a beginner level project, not a learn to crochet video. The title is misleading. I think she does have a learn to crochet video out there.
Sorry but this tutorial is definitely not for beginners!! I’m able to follow because I already know how to crochet but for those who are new to this, She doesn’t explain what is a “double crochet”!
Awesome tutorial for those of us that know some crochet stitching…looking forward to seeing what is next Lori…beautiful stitches ❤️

Thank you for the great visual! This helps so much to actually SEE the directions!!! 💗
I am such a fan of Lori's. Great tutorial.
Thanks Lori. You made it seem real easy. I think I will try them again.
So cute! I wish I could crochet that fast!😂
My grandma always used to make granny square afghans. These are cute!

it apoears to be just a beginner crochet project, not a learn to crochet video. She has one sonewhere.
Title of the video is very misleading.
Olá, que rica e querida ideia, adorei quem se iria lembrar, só a nossa querida Lori ...adorei!! Obrigada!
Is your yarn colorfast? Other cotton yarn that I have used fade so easily!
My aunt calls it an imposter, but "stunt double" sounds much friendlier. Lol

SmittenKitten I think Lori Holt made a crochet basics video.
@@NunnallyMom Thanks, Amy! I'll try to find some of her previous videos.
Great video. Would love to see how you join them together for a blanket.
Can you make anything big like Afghans or throws with this type of yarn?
When do you sleep, Lori? Quilt, crochet and cross stitch!
Hello nice granny square pillows. Where did you get your blocking board on your table. Thanks

There are you tube videos on double crochet. If you need help let me know..
Fabulous 😘
Pretty - what size hook ?!? Lovely 😊
Nice... 🌸🌸🌸
Sew fun! ❤️
❤️
what is the name of the yarn she is using?
What size were your Granny squares?

This is beautiful but not for a beginner beginner. For someone a little more advanced, maybe having made 3 - 4 projects.
Did the video end without the blocking?
Hi Patti, it's in another video here: th-cam.com/video/mcyiau-MKZI/w-d-xo.html
patti claude
crochet items usually don't need to be blocked like knitted ones do.
Oh my. Thought I would try it, but I don't know. Seems way more difficult than sewing.
We promise it's much easier than it seems!

She does hve a learn to crochet video out I think.
The double chain stitch was really difficult to follow.
Laura Hyde agree
This is not a beginner video. I got lost right away.
