- what is going on guys, its finally time to tackle the touran wing mirror swap in the build series.
I,m not sure whats involved but i do have a rough idea and i think its going to be fiddely.
If youve seen the caddy build series you will know i have a complete touran fora donor, ive already fitted the engine, loom,clocks and load of other bits and the wing mirros are the last piece, as it has everything from the touran im hoping i dont have to do any coding with vcds to get the indicators working but we shal see.

Haha it’s not pretty but it does hold I splatter cannoned the shit out of 2 bits of ally when I first brought it and I couldn’t break it apart. I would like a tig but money is tight, maybe someone will sponser me one soon. Although I couldn’t have used it on these as the little blow torch and excess heat would have melted all the plastic.

Hey bud I was very close to just buying caddy life wing mirrors as it took me over 10 hours to makes these, I’m happy with how they look but it was a lot of effort.

Hi bud thank you 👍 I’ve painted a few motors red and it goes with the black. So I had a whole touran for spares and I did think about the dash swap but I really don’t mind the caddy dash so I decided not to.
@@YTDTETV yeah my van van is red and black I think those colours go well really well together 👍 yeah I watched Dan Chambers do a dash swap in his looks nice but your dash does nice and clean 👍

Van has come some way, fair play to you 👍the tint on top of front windscreen looks great I can’t find a video of you doing it as I wouldn’t mind doing it to mine.

I just bought a Matt black sun strip from eBay about £5 and fitted it, think there’s a little shot in the caddy build fit up day. Easy enough to do, let me know if you want me to write a quick message on how to do it.

Did wind whistling has stopped after mirror conversion ?
I have caddy maxi van with original wing mirrors, and can hear wind whistling near mirrors during driving.

I dont know anything about remapping can you remap a 1999 2.8i petrol BMW .or am i getting it so wrong .

Do the later mirrors not fit? Or is it you wanted the indicators ?
So I think even the later ones need work as the doors are the same from early to late and the base plates to the caddy are a different size. I might be wrong thow. Thanks bud 👍

Hi mate wots the bolts to get the wing mirror off isit a spline bolt m14 ?? I got my self some caddy like mirrors i payed £280 got them color coded to my paint just need to get them off

I am always busy it keeps me sane, when I sit down and try to relax I’ll either fall asleep or I’m sat there twiddling my thumbs so just keep on my feet and keep busy.

It does, when I was driving the donor touran for a few weeks I did think to myself I should just keep that and save all the work 😂
I bought all the bits I need for this conversion, but not sure I have the skills to attempt it! 😮

Hey bud thank you 👍 I also found the caddy ones being so big they block a lot of vision looking out the side windows for traffic etc, can see loads better with these on.
@@YTDTETV I find that the nearside one not very useful can’t get it to angle how it should be. Will defo do the touran mirror mod don’t look that hard to be fair if got the skills.
@@vw_beetle_dave my drivers side one wouldn’t move into the perfect position I wonder if it’s a common problem with them getting stuck.

Hi Sean if you search on the Facebook pages or Facebook for someone breaking a touran and get the complete insides of the doors and they fit straight in the caddy all the touran wiring plugs straight into the caddy 👍
@@YTDTETV Hi Nathan, I've already got the touran cards and motors just waiting on the extra cable you need to power the windows up, do you know if I have to do any repinning regards sean, I'm hoping to come on the next bulb water meeting 👍
@@seanburke2815 hey bud so all I done was fit the touran wiring loom into my door and everything worked straight away with no repin needed. There will be some guys at the blue water meet that should hopefully have some info for ya. I’ll be there Wednesday 👍

@DTE TV yea I'm a carpenter so work out the van so not the cleanest nearly on 300k I'm sure injectors are on the way out judder and don't really idle properly now th3 wheel bearing sounds like a cheese grater 🤣 needs saving before I just sell it and yea your not a million miles away mate and tbh I was thinking gti conversion but now thinking bkd or even a pd 130 I'm not on social media can't send any pics but the van looks pretty cool just don't drive cool 🤣
@@golf-vi2cw I enjoy woodwork when not fixing car stuff 👍 blimey 300k that’s good going. My shell was 200k and after abit of love it drives well again, if your bodywork is good then I’m sure it’s well worth saving.
@DTE TV hi mate I'm hoping you might have an idea the van was running really lumpy misfire revs were high though map sensor or injectors scanned it said engine coolant temperature sensor so changed it seemed tk be that great 👍 went for a drive turned it off for a bit came back to it now its a pug tk start or won't start does with easy spray but once started idles perfect drives pretty good tbh bjb on 300k you have any ideas 🤣
@@golf-vi2cw hi mate so starting issues on these is normally down to a crank or cam sensor, when your turning it over and it doesn’t start is the Rev counter going up?

I have seen other people doing it but I wernt keen on glueing them together, look a lot better than the van ones.
