    You skipped over the Leti and "Atticus" in the room scene and i think it's incredibly telling. Leti says that her mom left her at home constantly as a kid and as Atticus started to get more agressive, she tells him to stop and starts getting nervous and the snake appears in Atticus's pants. That could be foreshadowing as to show that Leti went through some sort of assault as a child, thus being the reason why she holds such disdain for her mother compared to her siblings.

    The pain that Atticus is holding onto from his ancestor Hannah also speaks to the power of generational trauma. We get a glimpse of that when Montrose discusses the abuse he endured from his father which he later did to his own son.

    • @lucasreeserlarkin8996
      @lucasreeserlarkin8996 4 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Kayla SprdLove - Epigenic memory. Yes, traumas from ones bloodlines past are literally imprinted in our DNA. They're hinting at this heavily in this show. It was seen as taboo and now it's being proven, scientifically. Even the bible says something to the fact that memories are stored in ones blood for 7 generations..or something to that fact. Very good point, this goes hand in hand with the snake eating it's tail symbolism as most tend to repeat the past unconsciously due to this, making similar mistakes to their predecessors..in this show They Will Break that cycle. They're Aware of the past transgressions and w ere about to see how their new paths play out. R.I.P. Uncle George he helped make sure this occurred, very smart character.

    • @celticeyesmorriganrising929
      @celticeyesmorriganrising929 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The reason we have generational memory imprint is bullshit. It's like that because generations hand down what they know. If your mom beats you, chances are her mother beat her and her mother beat her and THERE IS YOUR IMPRINT. ITS THE SAME PAIN JUST A DIFFERENT FACE DELIVERING IT.

If this were true, she would get the best of both sexes (and the issues as well). It sure would be a great twist! (Christina's character is in 8 episodes while William has only 2 episode credits at IMDB)

    In the original book version of the Shining, the black character of Hallorann did not die. He literally comes to the rescue, and then becomes a second father and mentor to the psychic son Danny. It was Kubrick's film version that killed the character off.

      In Doctor Sleep, the sequel to The Shining, the character is alive and it shows in a small part him helping Danny (as that's not the focus of the film). And while a lot of people don't like it because it a slow paced movie, I love it and would recommend a watch.

    I personally didn't like the second episode as much as the first episode, but it was still good. The pacing felt a bit weird to me and I felt like the episode was hitting us with so many important information bombs that the episode didn't have enough time to breathe or have a chance for viewers to digest the information. It's like..here's magic, here's magical barriers, Attic is blood-related to this cult leader, monsters are birth from cows, Leti got shot, they saved Attic's father, reveal of Attic's real father, George died, the castle that we're just introduced to just crumbled after closing a portal. I thought we're going to stay in this location for a while and the location will be a character of its own, but that certainly seems to be not the case. It felt like I was watching a season finale but I'm still in the second episode and I missed the adventure.

    Conspiracy theory: Christina and William are the same person. They're still alive. In giving that ring to Atticus that ends up saving his life was to also manipulate him into using it during the ceremony. Knowing the outcome would be the same as it was in 1833. Everyone died except the one black person. She wanted her father dead because he never took her seriously because she was a girl. Thats also why she created the William persona so she could be a fly on the wall in the men's only meetings.

I suspected George might've had an affair with Tic's mom after his demeanor changed slightly when he asked Tic what the letter from Montrose said. George is an interesting character but I'm looking forward to finding out more about Hippolyta's character and her fascination with astronomy and what her reaction will be to Tic, Letty, and Montrose after finding out about George's death. I got a feeling there's more to Hippolyta than what we know of her.

    Such a strong episode imo. It has a lot going on, albeit not as subtle & clever as the first episode imo. also My theories:
    + William is the "imaginary" construct of Christina, or what she would want to be. She clearly want to inherit everything & of course become a member/leader of the order, but again no woman allowed. This even more striking as She probably thinks herself lower than a black men like in her crazy bigoted mind as Aticus instantly able to join the order. This is also why it seems William only interact with our MCs & Christina basically called him just a "boy" & a "friend."
    + I thought the book that uncle George took was Genesis, not Necronomicon. Menwhile, Necronomicon was the book that "Hana" bring when she escaped the fire. Maybe I am indeed wrong here.
    + Aticus is somehow able to understand or read the language of adam. In the hallucination scene, Ji ah was shouting in language of Adam. Although, maybe this could also be a sign for what's to come for him in the final part of the episode.

      @@DorothyZbornak4 It did indeed. Ichabod's wife Katrina came into the picture, suddenly Abbie, who is supposed to be the female lead, was getting cut out of her own show. Orlando Jones was mysteriously gone before her. After Abbie's death, black women fans abandoned the show, and it was cancelled shortly after that.

Tom didn't get killed off but of course Nicole gets the boots with those tough filming schedules. I sure did stop watching when she left cuz there was no point🤷🏾‍♀️. Im into sci-fi, drama, horror especially with black leads so my time was up watching that

      Not sure she falls there. Magical Negro is basically a character that exists just to support the main white character. Abbie was co-equal with Ichabod and that played off brilliantly with their chemistry, and the fact that he needed her to navigate the modern world. When her appearances on the show were cut, the show crumbled and when she was gone, it was basically all over for Sleepy Hollow. People need to be careful with the term and its overuse; Spike's comments and wiki's list are almost saying a black character cant have any power or significance on their own, that theyre incapable. Morpheus was not some insignificant "helper" to Neo; he was a dynamic leader, mentor and influential teacher to many people, particularly the majority of his crew, that he freed from the matrix slavery. In the Batman comics, Lucius Fox is the CEO of Wayne Enterprises and the Wayne Foundation; he's a shrewd businessman and inventor who runs Batman's business interests and wealth, that allow him to have the weapons, gadgets, Batmobiles etc that he needs to fight crime. 'Cause bada$$ as he is, he cant do it all himself. If people like Spike reduce these characters to "magic negro" they're saying a black person couldn't possibly be a leader, couldnt be intelligent and charismatic, couldnt run a fortune 500 corporation, etc. I'm sure thats not what he meant.

    Another excellent breakdown, Good job! Just wanted to comment on the repeated use of "the look" the the lead characters receive. Thanks for pointing out that it's a way to convey to viewers how black ppl were made to feel when in white spaces in that time period. As William stated "just cause they don't want you here doesn't mean you don't belong". This almost feels like a Twilight Zone type series.

      Funny you said that because I can't think of any series that mixed science fiction, horror, and race related situations other than the 50's and 60's versions of "The Twilight Zone" which still makes for some damn good tv (I like to stay home and watch the marathon whenever they play them on SyFy). Check out "The Twilight Zone" episode "I Am The Night--Color Me Black" one of my favorites and I agree with you on the fact that this episode did feel like something from "The Twilight Zone".
