I am so glad to see this video, Thank you Dr. DiNezza!! I am the person that dips into hypoglycemia... just because...The Glucose breath test MESSED ME UP. My doctor insisted that I do it, and while it confirmed that I had SIBO the effects of the glucose wrecked my system for weeks afterward. If you struggle with blood sugar problems and eat a low sugar diet, I cannot recommend the SIBO breath test, I would take a different route. I am well into my SIBO treatment now, but I refuse to do another Glucose breath test.
Thank you, Sharon! Healing is going well :) I talk a little bit about my surgery and my recovery in the first 5-10 min of the IBS Freedom Pod episode that posts tomorrow. Here's the channel: th-cam.com/channels/oK6Q6nOsBc5CHkWTTxGvqQ.html
I took a glucose SIBO recently, my second one after two years of SIBO treatments. I was more or less asymptomatic before the test, I got negative results, but the test made me so ill in like five different ways. Regardless of the negative results, it flared up all my SIBO symptoms so badly and now I'm back having to treat SIBO again. It sucks.
I am so sorry :( I was skeptical of this test even before I took it. It was awful for me. I hope you find balance again soon sending you healing energy to recover
@@lauralane586 Thank you! I'm sorry you had a bad experience as well, and I hope you're doing much better now! Sending you the same energy of recovery and vitality and health :)
I'm sorry that happened to you, Lauren!! It's pretty wild what high and low blood sugar will do to the body- I'm not surprised this test dumped you into the gutter so badly. Amy and I talk about it on the IBS Freedom Pod. In the hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) episode, I mention a really neat study. The researchers showed that the girth/thickness of the vagus nerve is drastically reduced in people with diabetes compared to healthy controls. And, knowing what we know about motility and digestive function, we know that this almost guarantees IBS/SIBO symptoms 😬
I did a glucose tolerance test when I was around 20 years old. I think they both use about the same amount of glucose (50 to 75 grams or around 12.5 to 18.75 teaspoons of sugar). One hour later my blood glucose was 160. Two hours after this it was 51. I was disoriented and shaking violently. The doctor told me an hour later that my test results were normal.
Another thing is the inaccuracy of a diabetes glucose oral test. If you are going to get one of those tests, you need to ramp up your carbs a couple days before you go in because if you go in being keto adapted and they give you 70 g of liquid oral glucose, you will fail the test
Okay, but how do you diagnose SIBO then? Recently I suspected diabetes and made glucose load test. I was not feeling realy good after the test, by my level of sugar seemed to be ok. Now I'm suspecting SIBO, and in my case, besides leaky gut, gases, etc, I also have dermatite and other skin issues. Low FODMAP diet seems to fix this temporarily. From what I can observe, it highly coraletes with sugar and other carbs intake. This is why I suspected diabetes in the first place. Can it be because of SIBO? or Candida? Or both? What is the best way to diagnose those? It is so hard to find a decent doctor who understands any of these and I am from Ukraine.
My mother got through her lactulose test without issues. Lactose caused a little gas. The next one is the fructose one. I'm a little worried because she never liked anything sweet tasting and things like cake frosting make her dizzy. She handles fruit just fine though. Is the fructose test as dangerous as the glucose one?
I just had a medical emergency 2 hours after my GLUCOSE SIBO test! This happened a few weeks ago. After the test, I went home and then went to Help a friend move. I started to feel weak and had to sit down. It got worse. I started to gray out. At that point, I said to call 911. I didn't know if I was having a heart attack. I wasn't out of breath or had any chest pain. When they got there they put monitors on me for my heart and took my blood pressure. It was 76/50. I had a huge drop in pressure, thus the reason for almost losing consciousness! Everybody was saying maybe I was dehydrated but I wasn't. I was in the Hospital for a few hours as they monitored me and found nothing. Thankfully my heart was fine! I'm a low-carb no sugar diet person. I Have not had any sugar for months. I knew I had a Methane Dominant overgrowth because I have the AIRE 2 device that measures Hydrogen and Methane. Actually, the test was a waste of money and time. As I was doing the test I checked the accuracy of the AIRE 2 against the expensive test instrument. it was very close! The AIRE 2 only cost $250. Note.... I am not Diabetic. They said my blood sugar was OK. My fasting blood sugar is around 70. I just googled Hypoglycemia. It said the blood pressure goes UP??? WHAT DO YOU THINK?
YIKES! I"m sorry this happened to you! Fwiw, I have seen more of a correlation between low BP and hypoglycemia. Similarly, diabetes (high blood sugar) is highly associated with high blood pressure.
Nope! I've tracked my sleep for a while and I've played with mouth taping and no sign of sleep apnea. I've had patients with it, though, so I'd love to hear your simple solution!
Yes, I had the worst snoring/sleep apnea. A supplement called RNA/DNA (made from brewer's yeast) gets rid of the snoring. Another herb supplement called Mullein (tincture from Wise Woman Herbals) helps with oxygenation, to get rid of the core of the problem.
I had asthma over three decades ago, but overcame it. Just did a quick search on mullein: good for bronchitis, cough, infection, sleep, asthma, etc. I don't see anything specifically for sleep apnea, so I guess it's my personal discovery. Strange all these millions of people don't seem to know about something so easy to access -- I guess because it's relatively new...to researchers.
@@Diogenes-II that makes sense- there must be something about your physiology that was craving mullein ;) whether we fully understand the mechanism or not is another thing..

UGH. Why, oh why, do they tell people to do this test??! It's not even that accurate, so it's not like it's even worth it if you do do it 😱
Glad to see you back. I hope you are healing well from your surgery. Love your videos.

Huh? Do you came up negative, but you treating Sibo?🤔
I’m taking one tomorrow, been having symptoms since 2013. Also recently diagnosed with Mals
So well articulated and informative- and by the way, credit to you for not only taking the test for us, but adding your own personal story. Thank you!
Thank you!! And yes, if there's anything that's clear from this channel, it's that I don't mind being a guinea pig for you guys 🤣

YES!! If you're low carb to begin with, ingesting this much sugar is going to WRECK you. Very similar issue with glucose testing in pregnant women.

tri-smart comes wwith glucose. so maybe steer clear of it? arent they the only hydrogen sulfide test though?
So neither test is good then I am out of luck cuz that’s the next test my doc was going to do
It’s 75g of glucose in one shot. Astronomical amounts. I’m about to test, and insisted on lactulose for health concerns.

Shouldn’t the title be if you’re hyper glycemic glucose testing could be dangerous?
I wish my insurance covered private checkup from someone as knowledgeable as you😢
I greatly appreciate the head's up! Sorry you to hear you had to go through such a rough time with your glucose test.
