Think nomad trucker has a neat set up he has like a sink & counter on the passenger side of the sleeper then I believe a couch behind the driver seat then mounted a ladder out of a cascadia for his top bunk if you might be interested in a setup like that he had a video of him & his brother installing some of the sleeper pieces probably about a yr ago I believe

With a little paint and elbo grease she will be lookin good I drove for Allied Systems car haulers They had the UGLYIST trucks on the road but mine was always clean and the tanks painted black the other drivers said i was crazy for doing but it didnt bother me Stay safe out there
Can't believe you were paying $4k for your previous truck. Holy crap. Since the interior is missing, I would just take all the interior you can get off your friend and refub it. But before installing it, put in sound proofing insulating foil. Just peel it and stick it on. Hope the new truck does a good job for you.

I'm looking at starting with landstar after my land sale in a month or two and I'll be able to buy the truck I want in cash. I've been driving for 4 years have done mostly hazmat tanker and heavy haul. Would you recommend landstar for a new owner op?

Ha I feel the pain waiting so long for small load, waited 24 hours in FW Tx, I ended up hauling ONE pallet of potato chips from FW to a Walmart DC west of SLC. great run for Christmas week.
I believe if you have an appointment time and they don't have your load within 2 hours. They should be paying you to sit there. If not, I will take the chance and go to Jersey and pick up that load. At least you'll be on the road making money.

Landstar doesn’t babysit. They allow us to do whatever we want. The key to being successful is to make relationships with the brokers and agents to get the good freight. I can give you all kinds of advice. Send me an email with your contact info.

Seems common issues for you guys is shippers never ready for the pickups. Makes a mess for you guys trying to plan out business, keep within your clocks and make it to the destinations in time. Need some punishment financially that they MUST pay out, to break them of this. Guess that will never happen.
I know making money on TH-cam is your first priority but having a family with young kids and the sole money maker, you need to rethink your priorities. That truck is going to cost you so much time and money. You're never going to have time for anything. Your to smart to be in this position. Really rethink this crazy project.

I agree John, this truck NEEDS a ton of work, rehab, I mean, I just don't see how to manage the time to fix this truck and try to go to work, its is a massive project,and some $$$$$, lots of it!!!

8mpg is excellent for truck fuel economy. Most trucks get 5.5-7mpg.
I would dump that load and take the hazmat. Just on the principle that they are messing up your time, that's disrespectful.
