    Americans do not know “capitalism”. More Americans only know vulture capitalism. The pipeline from school to prison or low paying jobs, homelessness, food insecure, medical I secure or none at all. Only people who say “work harder, it will pay off” are the ones who get the most handouts. American dream is dead.

    • @ONDALVL
      @ONDALVL 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mikeb5372 When people work they generate total revenue for the company. Yes, workers do get paid either a hourly rate kr salary but it is a fraction of what revenue and profit they actually generate for the company.
      Let's use Uber for an example. The Uber company would not exist if it weren't for Uber drivers. Despite the fact that the drivers is what keeps the buisness operational their income is significantly less than the income of the of Uber executives who don't do any of the heavy lifting. The median estimated compensation for executives at Uber including base salary and bonus is $212,999, or $102 per hour. While the average hourly pay for an Uber driver in the United States is $18.75.
      So yes workers get paid, but they get basically get the crumbs and leftovers of the 1%. Meanwhile, the other 99% are constantly working and hustling while barely getting enough to make ends meet. This is the reality for many Americans as the gap between the poor and rich are growing farther apart and the American middle class is slowly fading away until its only the poor vs rich.

    • @betalis7

      You pretend as though the "1%" is a constant upper class.
      The vast majority of "the 1%" this year will not be "the 1%" next year, nor were they last year. People rise and fall to and from the "top 1%" each year because of variability of high income jobs.

Most of the current ills this country is suffering can be traced back to her where the decline started. I actually believe she is partly responsible for the decline in the US too because Reagan was totally under her spell and her 'free market economy' ideology. Bernie is a true socialist which is not a dirty word as Republicans try to convince you it is. Neither does it equate with Communism - that's just to scare you. Socialism just believes in a fair, just and equal playing field for everyone. It doesn't mean everyone gets the same amount of material wealth. There will always be those who earn more or amass more than others and I do not begrudge anybody that but when the divide is so great that some have more money than they could spend in 100 lifetimes whilst others have less than nothing then that is immoral.

    Democracy is when those who make decisions on your behalf have the duty to ask for your consent first. Today's republics are actually modern oligarchies where the interest groups of the rich are arbitrated by the people, that is, you can choose from which table of the rich you will receive crumbs.
    The "fatigue" of democracy occurs when there is a big difference between the interests of the elected and the voters, thus people lose confidence in the way society functions. As a result, poor and desperate citizens will vote with whoever promises them a lifeline, i.e. populists or demagogues.
    The democratic aspect is a collateral effect in societies where the economy has a strong competitive aspect, that is, the interests of those who hold the economic power in society are divergent. Thus those whealty, and implicitly with political power in society, supervise each other so that none of them have undeserved advantages due to politics. For this reason, countries where mineral resources have an important weight in GDP are not democratic (Russia, Venezuela, etc.), because a small group of people can exploit these resources in their own interest. In poor countries (Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, etc.) the main exploited resource may even be the state budget, as they have convergent interests in benefiting, in their own interest, from this resource. It is easy to see if it is an oligarchy because in a true democracy laws would not be passed that would not be in the interest of the many.
    The first modern oligarchy appeared in England at the end of the 17th century. After the bourgeois revolution led by Cromwell succeeded, the interest groups of the rich were unable to agree on how to divide their political power in order not to reach the dictatorship of one. The solution was to appoint a king to be the arbiter. In republics, the people are the arbiter, but let's not confuse the possibility of choosing which group will govern you with democracy, that is, with the possibility of citizens deciding which laws to pass and which not to.
    The solution is modern direct democracy in which every citizen can vote, whenever he wants, over the head of the parliamentarian who represents him. He can even dismiss him if the majority of his voters consider that he does not correctly represent their interests.
    It's like when you have to build a house and you choose the site manager and the architect, but they don't have the duty to consult with you. The house will certainly not look the way you want it, but the way they want it, and it is more certain that you will be left with the money given and without the house. It is strange that outside of the political sphere, nowhere, in any economic or sports activity, will you find someone elected to a leadership position and who has failure after failure and is not fired after 4 years. We, the voters, must be consulted about the decisions and if they have negative effects we can dismiss them at any time, let's not wait for the soroco to be fulfilled, because we pay, not them. In any company, the management team comes up with a plan approved by the shareholders. Any change in this plan must be re-approved by the shareholders and it is normal because the shareholders pay.

    capitalism is no more than the consensual exchange of goods and services. there has never once in all of human history been a monopoly without government intervention (see Rockefeller trying to corner the oil market and losing money vs after he began financing politicians). the corporate socialism we suffer under today is a direct result of government intervention using YOUR tax dollars to support failing businesses that put their money into politics instead of better goods and services. (2008 and 2020 are the largest examples, the two literal largest wealth transfers in all of history both happening in america in the last 20 years). look at our economic structure, the federal reserve is NOT part of our government, yet it prints our money, wars used to be required to have the support of the people because they are expensive and would require a wartime tax, now the fed just prints the money to pay for it and we are all taxed retroactively through inflation from printing that money without our consent, think the last declared war was ww2, vietnam korea afghanastan iraq syria yemin etc ALL done without your consent and you paid for it through the inflation produced by printing the money for it. People do not give up being greedy because you will it or declare it law, Capitalism is the only economic model that takes greed into account in any capacity, what we need to solve this issue is to reduce government powers over its people and its markets to the point that for a company to make the most money they need to reinvest in better products and services for the best prices, right now the best way for a company to make money is to invest in politicians who then dictate policy in their favor. we cannot make it illegal for them to do this as they have the power and wealth to just find another way, we need to reduce governmental power to the point that even if they do it wont matter because they will make more money simply by making better products providing better services, or going through more volume by having a better price than their competitors. Look at our congressmen and senators, the average net worth is over 100 million, this nation will not be fixed by a bunch of people worth over 100 million (who got that wealthy 9 times out of 10 by using the political power they wield once they entered politics) passing MORE laws, their power over people and markets needs to be reduced. we need a time machine to go back 10 years and bring ron paul back.
