Donna, I remembered your method of making this Quilt , when I received a large box of Christmas fabric. The dark colored fabric with some bright red and green with beautiful outdoor animals like a red fox, white tailed deer, bunnies, squirrels, etc. I decided to "fussy-cut" all the animals out and place them on a 10" square fabric,(all the same pattern) and do your method to make a Quilt for 2 little boys who live in the middle of a big busy city where they don't see all these animals. I surrounded the animals with bright colored borders and it is beautiful. The two little boys have it now and will take on their first Camping Trip with Mom and Dad. I love this method THANK-YOU DONNA
What a fabulous idea. I have a panel ready to make for our latest grand daughter when she comes over to see us from Australia ( we live in Cardiff, UK ) and I need a 'quickie' method.I have only recently come across TH-cam and your tutorials, they are so good, clear, concise instructions which you can stop and replay. Great for an old Grannie.I will be continuing to watch. Thank you Donna
I am flabbergasted with this technique😮 Donna, you are a genius! It’s such a pity that I have just discovered this 4 years after you did this and I will never be able to find this panel as I love it😢
I tried this using layer cake layers for the background. I needed my finished block to be 9". Even being extremely careful with the 1/4", it didn't turn out to be 9" (it was short by 1/4" which was too much to be short by). So I cut an 11" square, did this method, and then trimmed it to 9". It worked perfectly!! I will always do this now. Such a great way to handle oddball sized panel pieces!! Thank you, Donna. I love your tips and helpful ideas!!
That is the MOST clever technique I have ever seen. I always avoid panels that need to be cut apart after some horrible results. Never again. Thank you, thank you.
Donna that is brilliant! i have purchased so many pannels because I fell in love with them, but then I was stumped on how to use them in a quilt, or runner, etc. Thanks for getting my creative juices flowing and giving us this easy method to use. Huge fan of Jordan Fabrics!
This is one of those you can truthfully say, "I did it my way" (with 'how to' instructions from Donna). ;D Such a simple method most people would look right past the idea and leave it. You have the eyes of a photographer, the creativity of an inventor, and the heart of whoever you are creating for, be it a child, the elderly or just the happy or sad someone. Keep the light bulb on, the construction site in order and your imagination fluent.
This is the best idea ever. I have a fall panel someone gave me a few years ago that i have been holding onto---i will have to pull it out and try this technique! This is so much simpler! Thank you!
Love the way you teach!! You are so clear & concise with the details that you can give us beginners the confidence to try projects we long to create. Thank you 🙏🏻
Donna, I’m new to patchwork so I’m learning so much from your tutorials; thank you. This idea of using primary colours as a background, together with your method of joining the patches, has allowed me to create a project I’ve been mulling over 😊
Great technique! I'm using it to make a Green Bay Packer quilt for my sister-in-law. It's working really well and makes a beautiful unit or block. Thank you!
just a wonderful tutorial a I did a panel quilt but did not know this technique so mine was very wonky. took me 3 years, but I did everything by hand. I'm very happy to see how you did this & I'm not in "fear" to try to cut up a panel anymore. thanks so much!
Thanks Donna another great video. Very clever way to use panels. I have used quite a few panels over the years and always spent at lot of time straightening first and cutting strips to border them. Must try your method now.
Your method for placing, the panel pieces is genius! I've had those "wonky" panels and wish I had known I could stretch them back into position!! I will from now on. I ALWAYS learn something from you Donna! Thanks for your great videos.
Thank you so much for this video with a wonderful way to use panel's. I have panel's for a while now and had no idea how to use them. I have wanted to buy many penals, but did not do so because of not knowing how to use them, so your video has helped so much. I must say how clear you videos are, we get to see everything with the camera work. You are an excellent teacher I really do learn so much, especially seeing techniques. 😀
Just ordered the kit and can't wait to give it a try. Saw this technique for squaring things before but never wanted to try it until your tutorial. Thank you so much for your knowledge and lovely fabrics. Keep them coming.
This is adorable! I nearly bought a panel today when I was shopping at a cool fabric store in RI, we're on vacation. Anyway, I didn't buy it but now that I know how to work with panels I'm all gung-ho to get started. I told the owner of the fabric store about you and your tutorials so hopefully she'll drop in and watch you and enjoy you like so many of us out here in You Tube Land.
Super centering tips I never knew! Many thanks for that. And for cutting panels apart and putting them on different backgrounds when the panels are all over the place and hard to deal with. So glad I saw this tutorial.
Love this idea. Can use just about any size for the backing, such as all 6", all 8", all 10" , all 12.5", etc., for backing different size and mini quilt squares to make a uniform quilt. Presently working on a throw quilt with the squares 2 sizes, 3.5 and 4.5, so, can easily back all of them to one size using this method. Thanks for this idea.
I've wanted to figure something out for panals & this is such a GREAT idea! Now when I see a cute panal fabric I know what to do with it. it's nice to do something quick but nice in-between the more complicated quilts. Thanks again & I'm looking forward to your next video!
OMG. This is just what I needed to see. I've been stressing out trying to find the right pattern for a quilt for my grandkids. This is perfect. Thank you so much.
I’m glad I found this pattern. I’m working on cutting some panel pieces out, that I found in my sewing. They weren’t even and I had to even them up. I couldn’t figure out how I was going to get them all the same size blocks. This helps me a lot. Thanks.
Love the panel quilt. I have a few panels and did not know how to start so have been putting it off. Wow such an easy way and your explaining is so simple. Thanks Kay

Your idea for the t shirt quilts is great. I made one for my brother-in-laws son but I had to figure all different borders so it would come out equal. It was so much work. Will use your method now. Love your videos as you detail all instructions so even a person that is new to sewing can understand. Keep them coming. Goldie
Love the double ruffle and your technique seems much better than doing them separately. I would love to see a video on the third pillow you featured on this video.
