This is such great info! I went from a 60hp Merc and 14 mph to a 115 Merc Pro XS and 25 mph with just me on it with the bimini top folded down in the boot. I think I need lifting strakes! Thanks for the video! 🍻
a 22' dual toon with 115ph and LIFTING STRAKES can go 35.5mph with two people aboard. That's all you need folks. How do I know? Because that's what I have.
off topic, a friend just got a new Manitou, and I'm thinking about a new Silver Wave. Do you recommend putting any fabric protection on the seats and or the bimini?
here's one to cover that I haven't seen.. If one wants to DIY cleaning their toons and Bottom painting.. what's a good safe way to lift the Pontoon boat up off the trailer to get to the underside of the toons?? I've tried many ways.. some sketchy
The best setup now is using hydrofoil to lift the boat. The strakes add more resistance. The high power pontoons boats just show you can go fast with anything with a big enough engine. The MPG figure will be absolutely horrible. A true hull boat lifts the entire boat out of the water so it is only riding on the tiny lift plate, making it go fast without using 10x the fuel.
How well/or not well does your pontoon perform?
You don't reply to questions. You wanna have a channel bud?
@@shawndale1552 you are not wrong - I am quie behind with my "day job" running a marina. :-) I aologize and will try to do better!
I have a 22' dual toon bennington with a 115hp 4 stroke and can get 25-26 out of it. Would strakes be beneficial?
would lifting strakes make a difference in my 22' Bentley with a 115hp Mercury or would you need a 150hp to really utilize them?

What are the dimensions of your strakes? 3" x 3", or 6" x 6"? I want to have this put on my boat this offseason.
115 2 stroke?
My 22' dual toon runs 25-26 with a 115 and no strakes. I doubt i would gain 10mph just from strakes
Would lifting strakes do anything for a 19’ dual toon with a 60hp or 75hp motor? Thank you for your help?

I replied to your other comment :)
Good video! any thoughts about doing a video on the different keels (some are deep, some sharp) why ???
If you angle the strakes or just a lip on outer edge it would stop water escaping from under pontoons and provide a lot more lift at lower speeds.

Manitou uses lifting strakes on all sides of each of the three toons with Suzuki 250 SS top speed 48.5 mph
