I couldn't forget Don Joaquin Ledesma, early morning on May we used to gather flowers for our afternoon offering the Flores de Mayo from Jaro plaza, he was always there at the balcony of his mansion ,passing by he will call his helper to gather some flowers, this melendres, kalachuchi, adelfa for us,and sometimes this fruit tambis, he was really a good man, sweet memories of my childhood experiencing the Flores de Mayo, kindhearted man so with Donya Magdalena Jalandoni ,humble rich people of Jaro ,naming just a few
Wow finally nasilip natin. I was also really curious what's inside that old mansion. I was surprised may occupants pa pala till this day. Though napabayaan na ang mansion, I wish maisipan nila to restore like what they did sa Mansion malapit sa Molo Plaza.
This is just heartbreaking to see. Me, my aunt, and a few relatives, visited Iloilo a few years ago, and we had the most amazing time. We saw plenty of mansions, some are being restored and some are left to decay. What I love about Iloilo is the rich history and esp the people. One of the nicest I've encountered. And even when you are in the city, you are not stressed nor pressured bc there is basically no traffic. So worth the trip! I remember when SM restored the Molo Mansion, I said to myself, I hope someone would do the same for the other mansions left. Just looking at the ornate carvings, wood panelling and wooden floors here, this would probably cost millions just to restore and recreate. This house speaks old world charm. If I were a millionaire, I would certainly buy this and restore it. I could care less about the cost bc the house is a real treasure on its own. I miss Iloilo so much and I hope I get to visit sometime soon.
...same here I felt sad for the moral decay in our society it’s a reflection of what have happened to us all now. They could at least clean it or donate it to the historical commission.
When i was a little girl my cousins and i used to play in the jaro plaza and i was always in awed looking at that magnificent house that i wished i lived in that house. I didn’t even know that Don Joaquin was the brother of my granduncle. Our ancestral house was just across the plaza too but much older by now over 2 centuries..imelda stayed there during the marcos lopez campaign in iloilo.
Schooled for 4 years in Iloilo City and I always passed by that mansion every time I walk from my dorm going to Jaro cathedral- and always wondered what the interior of this mansion looked like. It took me a pandemic to see this visual tour hehe. Such a shame this piece of past going into waste. I hope the National Historical Commission would consider restoring this.
This magnificent historical architecture badly needs a restoration. Sayang. Ang ganda ng mansion. One can easily imagine how this place looks like in its prime.
Yes, I felt the same way. Probably, our Government can allocate funds to preserve, maintain, and promote tours for heritage sites like this, for generations to see and appreciate. My mother is an Ilongga (Miraflores) from Jaro. I am happy to see this virtual tour, and would like to see it restored in its grandeur as it was designed to be :)
I wish to buy this house I live 3 blocks away from this alluring and tantalizing house. I always admire the person who decorated the entire mansion, and I've been always curious what kind of person lives in that house. I hope one day the restoration efforts of Iloilo today should make an effort to buy off this property it can be used as a museum or perhaps someone would buy it and restore it and make it into a hotel or a guest house .. one day I would buy that house and live there.
Nice video with nice information..unlike doon sa isang youtuber na nag vlog nito pero wala man lang information ,walang background music...parang namasyal lang sa loob ang video.. Thank you..more vlogs ..
I suppose this is one of the few houses in Iloilo where it has been neglected for many years.Although it is dilapidated, still you can see the grandeur of its architectural design and I can just imagine what it was like during its heyday. So far, the rest of the mansions in the city are very well preserved and still in use.
Thank.you sa pagtour im sure have a care taker live there and care that mansion.dito lng kmi sa Mandurriao at di ko alam ang story about palagi akong dumadaan dyan at nakakatakot nmm.
FINALLYYYY i've always been so curious to see whats inside this house. I always found it creepy everytime i passed by on the way to school. Nownthat i am older, i wish it could be restored to its former glory and turned into some kind of museum of sorts. But also im glad that its still being used as a residence.
The rooftop would have a command view of Jaro. The front of the house should been included. But over all the video is a glimpse of what the old place looks like. 👍
Permi ko na na labayan sang una after church.Im always curious what it looks like inside.Nice detail too bad it wasn’t maintained. Thanks for showing us.
Good day po im a very late comment fsayang ang pinaghirapan dir ledesma ito ay symbolo kanilang buong angkan mag pa sa hangang ngaun na miyembro familya lalong lalo na ang bayan jaro iloilo sa hindi natin alam ang kadahilanan sana may dumating p pag asa thank you po
Madamo nga salamat sa vid! Sang bata kami natawag na namon haunted house kag gasunluganay kami nga dira gina butang ang mga ginakidnap nga bata haha. 27 years na ko sa iloilo pero sa wakas nakita ko gid man ang unod sina. Salamat
I always pass by this mansion but never even knew its name. Thanks for the tour. If the channel is about Ilonggo heritage then you might be interested to uncover the original Ilonggo fighting arts as well. It is not Kali, Arnis, Silat or Eskrima. It didn't have a name until it was called Abre Mano during the spanish occupation. They have been hiding the system since the arrival of the Srivijayans here in Panay. They decided to come out last year with the aim of reintroducing the lost art to the Ilonggos starting with law enforcement, but was halted due to the pandemic. I know one of the keepers of the system and he would like to share the missing history of the Ilonggos. If you are interested to add this to your content, I would gladly arrange for you a meeting with them. It is good to preserve of what is left of our heritage for future generations.
@Average Muy Thank you so much for sharing! Indeed there's still a lot to be discovered in Iloilo's History. I'll message you soon when I'm done editing other videos. Thank you 😊
Panay has a deeper history besides all the grandeur of the city. In the hinderlands of panay between iloilo and capiz, lives the indegenous people the Panay Bukidnon, they’re descendants of the 10 datus who came to panay from indonesia. They’ve preserved their culture and tradition, they’ve been featured by Kara David in her documentary ‘ang huling prinsesa’..and their legacy is written in the archives of the univ. of the phils. in the visayas in iloilo city.
I suggest places like this in Iloilo should be converted to boutique hotels or museums similar to Vigan! The Iloilo government and its people should take advantage of its powers as a local government to develop the province and its cities without depending so much on the national government. If it can deal with foreign investors, it should do so. My mom is Ilongga by the way and I wanna see Iloilo to have world-class infrastructures as I believe Ilonggos are brainy. They just have to embrace modernity and technology at the sane time preserving their culture and traditions.
The thing is no investor is interested on doing that. Old mansions has some history of “multo” I doubted people will stay on that place if Incase turned to be hotel.
That will happen if Ilo Ilo government strive to develop in it and there will be no more n.p.a terrorist because merchants and investors are afraid to put up a business in Ilo ilo because of the terrorist threat that's why it's hard for Ilo Ilo to improve.
Sadly, it’s private property. Even if declared a historical site, the city government can’t buy it off. The power of eminent domain doesn’t work that way. When declared as a historical site, they can demand the owners to restore and preserve it. The caveat is that the restoration is restricted by the means of the owner. In the Philippines, you generally can’y force a person to sell property. The instances when you can force a person to sell property are limited and are restricted thereto. The hope of this property is when the current owner finally decides to sell it to someone who can restore it.
ang dami pang maayos na kahoy.sana may bilyonaryong mag restore.

As an Ilonggo in every mansion sorrounds iloilo city has its own story to tell according to my parents and ancestors, if you will listen to their stories, you will be amazed how these family lived and lifestyle during their time, And to those who may not know, Jaro fiesta they have a choosen Queen, that come from the clan of the prominent family in Jaro, The mansions and other buildings, can tell how Iloilo have rich cultures and grandeur from the past, upto now, this mansions was taking care of our city as a tourist destination and cannot be touch by anyone even buyers who can afford because its reminds our history then.
Everytime I see the house, I thought that the owners of the house just left the house in its current state. I just wish that even though it is now only lived in by the caretakers it would have been kept in a clean state. The photos alone of its former owners should have been retrieved by its descendants and not left hanging in there with no one even to clean it away of its dusts. I wish someday it can be restored to its former glory. Maybe the Iloilo government can do something about it?
Very sad to see that the mansion is fast decaying! This kind of heritage should be saved by local govt to preserve its antiquity and the history of the rich and famous of Iloilo!
sad, this mansion has become decrepit. City Government should buy this property & turn it into a museum instead of being neglected. I have lived in America for 41yrs but have never visited Iloilo & other Provinces in Ph. Now that I will be retiring & moving back to Ph. I will have time to visit a lot of these Provinces I have never visited in my life.
I saw an old lady at the window while passing by some years ago. I assume she was the caretaker at the time. I think the old lady you've mention is the owner of the house she is Emma M.Ledesma @ 95. Shes very pretty and mestize known to be snow white of Jaro during her days

Ilonggos are always close to each other as family. This house is very memorable to me during my college days, before I become a DOT tourguide of Visayas. I visited and went to the kitchen, one of the house caretaker is inday nene they use to cook super delicious spanish dishes.
Wow! Thanks for this one of a kind experience Ilonggo Tube! Iloilo is indeed rich in History❤️

It is nice to hear from a direct testimony from Evelyn Gerano. We wish to learn more about the history of this Mansion

I felt so bad at the sorry state of the mansion. This is what happens when the descendants do not care the least about their parents’ legacy.
...same here I felt sad for the moral decay in our society it’s a reflection of what have happened to us all now. They could at least clean it or donate it to the historical commission.
Ibthought, everyone hated the rich and their legacy.
No hate just saying.
I think it's more like they can't afford to maintain the mansion
Maganda Sana kaso ang dugyot at marumi tingnan sorry prangka lng po

The pride of Iloilo. This should be rehabilitated but retain its beautiful structural design. 😀

Curiosity closed! Huhuhu I cried. Please please this heritage mansion. So beautiful and priceless.
Everytime we pass by the mansion I would try to peek through the windows or anywhere! Glad to FINALLY see!
Please do recognize this as one of the Iloilo's finest masterpiece...i hope the one that holds this mansion had a heart of good stewardship.
Galing imagine while watching nasa harapan ako ng mansion nila🥺♥️ sobrang luma na but nakaka amaze. this is my dream i love old house 🤍
Proud Ilonggo here. Iloilo is one of the richest city in the History.
Finally ♥️ since then I’ve been so curious what would be the interior architecture for this mansion. Thank you!

Wow very beautiful mansion. Pag na restore sobrang ganda for sure.
felt sad seeing how neglected this piece of history is. i can just imagine how majestic this mansion is during her heyday.
lol i thought it was abandoned oops =D yeah indeed still looks decent but would look indeed majestic

Sometimes late at night you could still see the apparition of don joaquin sitting in the balcony and admiring his beloved view of jaro plaza

Hi, Kuya Val Happy Valentine,
It would be very nice if it’s professionally restored back to its grandeur. I hope someone buy it tho to restore it.
The son was famous during the 90's. My late uncle always watch their show performing here in Iloilo City night life scene.
Beautiful house but I hope some one can restore it to it's former glory
