many thanks for sharing, a big table to move anyway smile of boy kid at the end ( 2.17 min) is the best thank you and hommage at your job ! viva slot ! have fun, take care : )
This is equal parts artistic genius and technical capability. Simply stunning work. I just showed this to my 6 year old grandson who "identified" with the little boy at the end of the video.
Wow Nice detail and beautiful scenery. I am in the middle of constructing a 4 lane for me home 4 X 12 foot for my HO scale cars. Work like yours is inspiring.
Beautiful job, and the final bit of film was deeply moving -- the myths and fantasies of childhood. Also, what is the beautiful music -- fits this perfectly.
As I mentioned, it took about six months to make. Obviously, I was just working on it here and there, but I put a lot of time into it on weekends. I also have some experience doing these type of tracks now so it goes quickly. You can buy all the materials at a hobby store (especially if they do model RRs), and the wood from Home Depot/Lowes/Osh.
Very nice! I especially like the bridge. It's what brought me here. I'm trying to make a 1/4 mile drag strip to race 1/25th scale slot cars (The new ones from AMT) in my store. Not much room for curves, that's why the 1/4 mile. Your set is inspirational! I enjoyed this very much!
Great scenery - better than I could ever do. The "doughnut", however, needs to be outside the main circuit and turning in the opposite direction to equalise the number of inside and outside curves for each lane. Putting the "doughnut" inside the main circuit only adds to the difference in length between the "inside' and "outside" lanes.
@Mercari1964 You're right Mercari, the final bit was deeply moving, just in time for Christmas, the joy and wonder of childhood illuminated by this marvelous display. And, yes, the music support the 'wonder" perfectly. Thank you jmswms.
awsome build must be nice to have it finally somewhat finished im building a track my self you can see the diorama part of the layout in some of my mudder vids my moms buying me a track and my wifes buying me lots of cars for my bday i cant waite
Beautiful set! I'm deciding what theme to use for mine but can't make my mind up....I'm a guitar player but haven't heard that piece of music, what's it called?
great job bud. i want to start building mine soon now that the weather is getting better here in Toronto Canada. i'm thinking of keeping it very simple with just one level for now. i'm using copper taping but it doesn't have any magnetic properties. any suggestions on how to make corners with some sort of magnetic ability? and how easy is it to use MDF wood?
No idea on how long it took to make, but it probably cost about $700. I built it over the course of six months, but you could build it much quicker depending on how much time you devote to building and what kind of detailing you put into the track.
Looks fantastic. Sinking the river bed rather than building up the surrounding land is such a great idea!
Love that last shot of the kids enjoying the track. Well done!

AMAZING track and reminds me of the old ones you would buy..... Very good pics at end
There is nothing like a slot car layout to attract and fascinate boys, young and old.

Great work and relaxing soundtrack!
