This is a mid-20th century version of Jewish wedding dances ... when I was 6 or 7, in the early 1960s, my family went to my dad's second cousin's wedding that this reminds me of. It was in a wedding hall in Brooklyn, NY, same wedding rituals, similar music and dancing. This brought the memories right back. One feature of a traditional Jewish wedding was the chair dance. The bride and groom sat in plain dining chairs, and the male dancers grabbed the chair legs, lifted the couple, and danced with them.
I'm a Gentile, & appreciated the elegance, talent, & energy of the dance, I enjoyed the singing & music also. I bless Israel, they are the apple of God's eye.

I am Jewish and I danced and sang in Jewish performing groups for decades. I have also been a fan of the youngsters who dance Palestinian dances and have been here for a few tours. All people are special and their dances and songs are wonderful. Ah yes, there is the bottle dance popularized in Fiddler on the Roof. Some of the earliest Israeli dances are just beautiful and the songs as well. More about Kibbutz life. I guess that's over.

Growing up I was obsessed with Fiddler on the Roof and loved all the music and dancing. I grew up Christian and somehow was always drawn to the Jewish culture. Last year I took an ethnicity DNA test and it turns out I am Jewish. My little sister (I am adopted) was like; no wonder you were so in love with that movie! Hahaha! Guess the Jewish blood runs deep no matter what religion you grew up in. So now I am a Jewish Christian.

Although I am not a Jewish person I do appreciate there customs,but I remember years ago when I was working for a Jewish catering company and we had to cater the food for a Jewish wedding and so we made the food and was displayed buffet style and when it came to the entertainment part all I did was watch, since I had never been to a Jewish wedding, and it was very interesting to see both men and women dancing together, as I will never forget something like this ever again and they were very good, but I hold it very sacred, no matter the type, and since I am a CATHOLIC, I do understand the meaning of a wedding, from the formal wedding, to the reception, and everything else, and my father and the priest, explained everything to me in detail and what I don't understand is why people from different countries don't respect their culture, way of life,historical significance, as my conclusion is let them have their own beliefs, as CHRISTIANS do the same as the MUSLIMS do, in my mind IT'S IN THE WILL OF GOD, so let it be written, it's two different souls, bound by God into one soul, as written in the BIBLE, just like the story of ADAM AND EVE,and it was the beginning of the 1st sin of the human race, the ORIGINAL 1ST SIN OF MANKIND, but very nice video.

Although I am not a Jewish person I do appreciate there customs,but I remember years ago when I was working for a Jewish catering company and we had to cater the food for a Jewish wedding and so we made the food and was displayed buffet style and when it came to the entertainment part all I did was watch, since I had never been to a Jewish wedding, and it was very interesting to see both men and women dancing together, as I will never forget something like this ever again and they were very good, but I hold it very sacred, no matter the type, and since I am a CATHOLIC, I do understand the meaning of a wedding, from the formal wedding, to the reception, and everything else, and my father and the priest, explained everything to me in detail and what I don't understand is why people from different countries don't respect their culture, way of life,historical significance, as my conclusion is let them have their own beliefs, as CHRISTIANS do the same as the MUSLIMS do, in my mind IT'S IN THE WILL OF GOD, so let it be written, it's two different souls, bound by God into one soul, as written in the BIBLE, just like the story of ADAM AND EVE,and it was the beginning of the 1st sin of the human race, the ORIGINAL 1ST SIN OF MANKIND, but very nice video.
