He said 'Ghana" PHD. So he respects a Dutch or American PHD holder but with his Dutch passport and his menial job he has a better life than a Ghanaian living in Ghana with a PHD gotten from one of the Ghanaian universities.

All Kofi is trying to say is the benefits that comes with his new Citizenship. He'll never have to pay for medical care etc. Yes he's a toilet cleaner but the guy and his children will never go hungry and if what he earns is below national average, the system will top it up for him. The guy is an European Citizen now and will enjoy the same privileges in all member Countries and am talking about 27 of them. His Dutch passport is not just for travel, it is a resident / work permit in any of the Union with the same privileges. Dr Bawumiah told Ghanaians GH card is very important than 1000 interchanges but after covid he was in London for treatment. The man never used Korle Bu with his GH card. I honestly do not know the benefits of a PHD holders in GH apart from the tittles and status but can still sleep on the floor at 37Military Hospital because there's no bed with all the knowledge acquired. Kofi's statement is outrageous and provocative but I fully understand where he's coming from.

Mr. Atsu’s introductory remarks were so misguided, unrealistic, and unfortunate - it extends (and frankly avoids) the grief of the ordinary Ghanaian by negating Kofi Garb’s intelligence and purpose for sharing his experiences.
Ghana is struggling economically - review any publicly sourced data, from Ghana’s own Statistical Service to African/global market indicators, and you would know how many people are genuinely interested in how to make ends meet for themselves and their families.
‘Mr. Happiness’ is correct: Ghana’s leadership, private sector, and institutions of public trust must improve rapidly to meet the ever-evolving, competitive market conditions. Ghanaians are wonderful people; however, at times, the leaders and so-called higher-learners are disconnected from the real need to grow the nation…FOR THE PEOPLE.
One Love! Less self, less tribe.

The system in Ghana renders Ghanaian Phd holders useless. Apart from being a lecturer and becoming a government official that steals from the country’s coffers what other use do we have for Phd holders in this country.
A perfect example being our vice president Dr Bawumia. He has proved to us how useless a Phd is in Ghana.
The problem is we as Ghanaians are so motivated by titles so most people who go for higher education are driven by their egos. They end up as lecturers who fail students haphazardly .
In short a Phd holder in Ghana is worthless in this Ghanaian system. Simple as ABC

    - Visa-free travel to many countries
    - Access to better job opportunities and higher paying jobs in the EU
    - Right to live and work in the Netherlands or other EU countries
    - Access to quality healthcare and education in the EU
On the other hand, having a PhD in Ghana might be prestigious, but it may not offer the same level of practical benefits and opportunities as a Dutch passport

Many don’t understand me happiness. It’s not about relationship. It’s about value, opportunities etc the Dutch passport brings to ordinary folks. How many ph. d holders have come together to solve the nations problems have create jobs for themselves and others. We are talking about relevance!!

I live in germany since 2003 and with my Ghana passport i was always frustrated when i wanted to travel with my german wife and kids to our holidays destinations. I was frustrated to the extent that even serbian immigration office in germany nearly rejected me visa eventhough i have my german resident permit in my passport. The ghanaian passport frustrated me so i had to neutralize to take the german passport.
Now i can travel to over 200 countries without applying for Visa.
We went to the dominican Republic for holidays visa Free like with my Ghana passport wahala go come

My issue is why will big media stations waste time discussing this issue when we have a lot of fundamental issues in Ghana that needs focussing on. What Kofi said is his opinion and you cant prove him wrong. Likewise Phd holder can say similar thing and will be right in his own right.

With all the issues Ghana is facing why cant these so called PhD holders in Ghana come with models to get Ghana out some of the problems? Bawumia, a supposedly PhD holder in Economics promised heaven and esrth that he was going to transform GHANA's economy when the NPP comes to power. It is almost 8yrs since they came to power. How is GHANA's economy now ?

What kind of comparison is this? Why are you comparing a passport as an ID and academia. What purpose do both of them serve and their usefulness? Are they meant for the same purpose or do they have any similarities? A baby born today can obtain a passport, can a baby born today obtain a PHD? Can a baby born today with a pssport contribute knowledge on the field of academic to society? Useless comparison, and you get people who are naive about the purpose of the two also talking wrobbish.

It's sad how many Ghanaians out of fraustration as a result of bad leadership are becoming anti academia and anti intellectualism, very sad.
It has become very common to have any school dropout rubbishing and discrediting academia and education.
Who misled these ignoramuses that, PHD as an academic qualification is meant for the holders to become rich? Such a lazy approach to thinking and unreasonable assumptions is why we are where we are today as a country!!

On a sensitive issue of this nature you don't bring male and female to debate. Women are generally emotional and for them it's all about money money. So it would have make sense to use male to male or female to female.

A point many are missing is the quality of PhDs being churned out in Ghana. The fact that the PhD holders are only talkers and not doers emphasizes this. How many PhD holders in automobile engineering don't send their cars to the wayside mechanic to fix? Basic policies to optimize food production, stabilize the currency and keep our country clean; the PhDs cannot think about. The Dutch passport ushers him into a society that values merit, whose PhD holders think and do. Let's allow Me Happiness to be happy.

Ghana PHD holders do not come closer to PHD holders abroad . The PHD holders in Europe are performing marvelously and the people benefit from it but Ghana is a zero .

The process of acquiring a PhD is different from the process of acquiring a Dutch passport. The two cannot be compared.
However, the inference I make from what he said is that, Ghana has not been fair to PhD holders.
