  • The Groupe des Aidants du Sud-Ouest (GASO), in collaboration with the Community of Practice in Caregiving (CdP Caregiving), invites you to discover the outcomes of a unique project funded by the Community Services Recovery Fund (FRSC). This initiative aims to better understand and address the needs of English-speaking caregivers in the West Island of Montreal. In this webinar, you will gain insights into the project’s findings, which offer a realistic overview of the challenges faced by caregivers and propose solutions to improve their access to essential services.
The project revealed that many caregivers do not immediately recognize themselves in this role, which often hinders their ability to receive necessary support. This issue is particularly prevalent among English speakers, where language barriers further complicate access to health and social services. During the webinar, we will explore this reality in detail, focusing on how terms like "caregiver" and "loved-one" in English fail to fully represent the complexity of the role.
You will also learn about how the geography and diverse demographics of the West Island create unique obstacles for caregivers. For example, the lack of accessible public transportation and the economic vulnerability of some individuals add to the challenges of providing care. Practical recommendations from the project will be discussed, including partnerships with community organizations and places of worship to better support English-speaking caregivers.
This webinar offers professionals, stakeholders, and anyone interested in caregiving a chance to learn about the project and explore concrete ways to enhance support for caregivers in their daily lives.
