    Even after 6 years I still remember Frederica's words: how she doesn't care about the damn war anymore, who wins or loses. In that moment she wasn't a soldier - she was just a woman who lost her only love. These words hit me like a truck, and I helplessly cried in silence. LoGH is a masterpiece, but I just can't bring myself to rewatch it. It was too painful. So thank you for making these videos! 😭

      Her emotions expressed through the words she spoke were raw, poignant, real, and therefore impossible to shake off... Thank YOU for watching 🙏

    Now that it has passed, I feel like I can mention Yang's worries and fears of how he would be remembered. It's stressed more in the books, but Yang didn't want to become a figure in history who is remembered like Admiral Wood. Someone who people will copy and quote without understanding their nuances. A historical figure future leaders could invoke to convince others to die for a cause.
    Great video!

      True and this reminds me of that train of thought which started in E81, with Wenli contemplating what people fight for, the principles or certain figures? It's the latter but it should be the former? I think it's easier to follow people who embody the principles like Dusty said in 83, but following the principles without staying attached to the figures is next level and I think what Wenli sought.

      always kind of loved and hated this about yang. He is the symbol of democracy whether he likes it or not but he still tries to just be a dude in a universe of billions (I think the fandom's headcanon is trillions but I forget). I always like that yangs attempts to not become a republican martyr only made him more so. But jesus christ dude you realise you are the only reason the FPA lasted more than 3 nanoseconds when Reinhard invaded right???! i always think self-confidence is a key factor in military commanders and yang just will never admit he ahs it for christ sakes

    EP 89 is the funniest in the whole series, to see the ruler of the whole GALAXY 🌌 become a shy teenage boy is peak moe gap.
    It's so interesting to see someone watching this for the first time and talking about it, the algorithm randomly recommended me this vid and now I'm gonna watch your whole series, AND rewatch LoGH.
    Also the 4th opening is the best one, the rough engrish only makes it better 👍

    I still think about the amazing punch of "Mittermeyer's dead... KIDDING!" just before killing off Yang. What a way to make sure the audience's nuts are exposed and vulnerable just before kicking them with a steel boot. Tanaka is an evil genius.
    Also, since I can't write a comment without it being about Oberstein, I really like this moment of him outright going up to the guy and claiming responsibility for Westerland. This really shows that his own life is just another means to an end, and he's willing to throw it away to protect a more important cog in this grand machine.

    I appreciate that the show took the time to focus on everyone's grief and I think Cazerne's reaction was the one that really broke me, besides Julian... it was so understated but realistic, what an amazing performance by the voice actor. And not one of the grownups could've stepped up to help with the talk with Frederica?? Poor Julian!
    Also, loved your aside on Merkatz and totally agree! It's hard to standout in this series since there are so many interesting characters but he has quite a satisfying arc throughout the show.

      Most of the 150 characters in the story die, I think form one time n-mentions of occasional personnel to leading ones. It makes Game Of Thrones look like a picnic because they die in surprisingly non plot related or simpler ways.

    I did not expect a comment from me in a video ^^
    Thank you !
    Anyway, I'm sorry for being cruel about the 82nd episode comment. I just knew people would be like "Oh my God no...anything but that...".
    It's still my favorite episode though, the turning point of LOGH left me and many people DEVASTATED.
    No epic classical music during an epic space battle, dying alone from blood loss by a bullet shot by a random bastard, the hero dying like a normal soldier, the last lines were not punchlines but still memorable, the image turns black & white, you hear Julian calling desperately, and Yang's last pose is clearly a tribute to Tommorow's Joe ending (that have been already re-used in a bunch of other animes), and finally the Narrator confirms what we all feared in that moment: The Magician won't come back. No ending credits, then the preview for 83.
    I remember that I had to turn off my computer after that episode and go for a walk. I was not in the mood anymore for the rest of the day to watch more anime or even play video games. There's not a lot of animes where a death scene is devastating like this.

      @TinyWaveTV  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Honestly, I didn't know where and how to start this entry, then I thought of your comment and that got me started so thank YOU 🙏 And no worries about the other comment~ 😆👍 What I want to add to what you said about the episode is that it was the most painful kind of a roller-coaster ride... giving hope and then taking it away and repeating that until all hope was lost.

    I watched Yang’s death a year to the day after my dad died. It wasn’t his death that got me, but Frederica’s reaction. The way she talked…like she was a thousand miles away, was so similar to my mom’s reaction. I have never in my life sobbed like that to any kind of movie or television show, ever. It’s been 20 years since I saw that and I went back to watch it last year and it still hit just as hard.

    I didn't mean Julian becomes a villain! But a part of his character is really wanting to become a soldier, and there is a specific scene in the retaking of Iserlohn when Poplan says that murdering men with axes isn't very fun, and Julian is like "Are you so sure!?" as he disembowels yet another man. He also killed a cultist on earth with a very anime high kick to the noggin. Mecklinger is beautiful ok stop making fun of him T_T and Emil having to sleep outside in the hall during the Imperial tussle was probably one of the funniest moments in the whole series.

    • @TinyWaveTV
      @TinyWaveTV  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Oh thank God I misunderstood 🥹 but I think I know what you mean... in 47 when he saw Reinhard for the first time, his first reaction was reaching for his gun then he immediately stopped and went, "Oh right, I ain't no terrorist" I was like ma boy whAT
      Mecklinger should get rid of that mustache and the hair, then we'll talk 😉

  • @kagekun1198
    @kagekun1198 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Honestly, the loss of Yang Wen-li's life wasn't the moment that took my breath away (with outrage), it's the parasitic politicians way back in the earlier episodes who were determined to fail Yang Wen-li and the people of the Alliance in every conceivable way. From that Windsor woman who sent millions to die so that she would get reelected, to Job Trunicht selling out everything and everyone with all the power he was entrusted with to save his own sorry hide, it was all those injustices that Yang Wen-li could not, or would not do anything about that was the very worst of democracy. It's very telling that when Reinhard scapegoated the Patriotic Knights for the destruction of his palace, the people were cheering him on rather that lamenting that more Imperial military force was imposed on their home.

      "Don't kill your dreams, follow your dreams"
      These lines from that ED always made me smile when I listened to it; I found it kinda funny ngl. I smiled when I heard it in E84, even sang along, but it wasn't the same smile as before. It's a hopeful sound, right? Like it's telling you, "It's gonna be alright," like gently pushing you towards moving on, and you move slowly to the tune. It felt like moving on but not fueled by hope for the future, but by good memories of the past...if that makes any sense. Also, smol Julian 🥲
