    We had the chance to drive the 2022 Hyundai Veloster N earlier this year, the first vehicle from Hyundai's N performance sub-brand. Since then the South Korean brand has come out with several more models under the N branding including this 2023 Hyundai Kona N. A FWD-only version of the popular subcompact crossover, the N treatment comes with a 2.0L turbocharged 4 cylinder engine which produces 276 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque, along with a horsepower boost of 10 hp when using the N Grin Shift button located on the steering wheel.
    James goes over all the technical detail about this vehicle that potential buyers would be interested in knowing along with a thorough overview of the exterior design and features along with the interior design and layout. While the Kona N comes fully equipped in the Canadian and US markets, with paint being the only optional extra, there are features not found on this from other Kona models, such as no AWD option, no sunroof, no automatic high beams, and some other small details.
    James then takes the 2023 Hyundai Kona N on a real-world road test to talk about how this performance subcompact crossover performs on the road, some details about his experience in the driver's seat, and how the Kona N performed on summer tires at the end of fall. Details about the N modes, different drive modes, and the NGS button are discussed along with the options found in the infotainment system to adjust the experience of this vehicle.

    I’m 74, and I probably drive pretty much as I did when I was 18! I raced in the American Reed class of go karts in my youth, built up a ‘66 Comet Cyclone that was my daily driver, and weekend drag racer in B/Stock, NHRA racing. I worked at All American Racers, Inc.(joint venture by Dan Gurney and Carroll Shelby), in the late ‘60s; and I’ve owned performance cars most of my life. When asked why I have a ‘23 Kona N at my age, I simply say “you can take the boy out of the racer, but you can’t take the racer out of the boy!”

      I'm 54, and I bought a 2023 KN last spring. Age really has nothing to do with it. I've owned sporty/sports cars since my early 20's, and I will always love them until I shuffle off this mortal coil. The quickest way for a seller to get rid of me is to ask if I'm shopping for my son or daughter (which I don't even have), lol.

    Excellent review, but this car is not just for someone in their 20's lol. I am 53 and I purchased my Kona N this spring. If you ever peruse the Kona forums, there are a few members in the their 60's and even 70's. I've always loved performance cars, but couldn't afford a car like this in my 20's... Cheers!

      I came from a MK 7.5 19’ GTI Autobahn pure white and I do kinda miss its refinement and maturity, but this thing is awesome too, picked up a 23’ Kona N in racing red and it’s just crazy what they did with this thing that exhaust note sounds almost like a stage 2 GTI.

    I have a 23’ Kona N in racing red, this hot hatch is very engaging and the exhaust is very entertaining. Great little package 📦 that Hyundai cooked up. Can’t wait to test out their 24’ Elantra N. I really hope they continue to create combustion N’s and still make cars for everyone.

    strange how the backseat doesn't have the USB port in the back of the center arm console. US markets have it, but then again they don't have the Heads Up Display down there. I am on the fence with this car and a Trailblazer RS. I know I get more pep with this car but the Trailblazer has some more comfort features (AWD, Sunroof, Powered Tailgate, bit more cargo space, etc). I'm not too worried about the room in the back as I have two kids that would be sitting back there so the leg room is ample, but the difference in engines between the two is so noticeable. I'm worried that a 1.3L 3 cylinder turbo will be so disappointing to drive around in and I'll end up regretting the purchase. The Kona N is just such a blast to drive. Thanks for your honest review.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ultimately comes down to what you need/want out of the vehicle. The Trailblazer did get updated a bit since we drove it, I believe the two major complaints we had about it included no heated steering wheel, or power lift gate. The heated wheel was added which was good. Let us know what you end up with!

    • @njevansYT
      @njevansYT ปีที่แล้ว

      @Perpetualradio I know the 2024 Trailblazer has a new instrument cluster and main infotainment screen. If I could easily get one of those maybe it would sway me more, but that Kona N and it's performance wants me to come back for more, lol.

    Great car for the price since new performance SUV’s are in a higher level trims that costs an arm and leg ($70K+).
