I think Alex sounds amazing as always. Look how old this vid is, he was probably nervous as shite, and to be playing at such a huge venue when your first starting out is very intimidating. I love these guys and I've enjoyed watching them grow more confident over the years in their live performances. Thanks for uploading this vid. Living in the States and being such a huge fan has been difficult cause they didn't play here that much at the start.
A while ago, this might have struck me as sloppy... but I've grown to crave messy, energetic performances where the band are still fighting the intimidation of the crowd for dear life.
I know that! That's still only two years to get the band synched. I have friends who have bands and it takes a lot of practice and playing lots of gigs to improve on your timing and sound. Not to mention overcoming your nervousness of playing in front of thousands of people. In a recent interview, Alex stated that he still gets nervous before he goes on stage.
Thank God for the Strokes and the garage rock revival of the early 2000s. If it hadn't been for them, we wouldn't have had Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party, The Libertines, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, White Stripes and Arctic Monkeys. If it wasn't for them, rock would still be characterized by screaming ass clowns in the nu metal scene, or Dave Matthews wannabe shingles.
+Ebenezar it just doesn't sound like the band was tight for this performance, the rhyth guitarist goes in and out of time. I LOVE franz don't get me wrong, but I have seen a lot of other live performances of Jacqueline where the KILL it and do it with style.
Andrew Cook I checked out a couple other videos of them doing this tune and actually your right! while the energy here is unmistakable, other performances were quite a bit sharper. I can't say I am a huge fan, but I do enjoy the band quite a bit. Very smart and cool stuff.
Most underrated band of all time.
100%
Best Scottish band of all time! One of the best rock groups of our time!
The drummer... oooh the drummer.... Thats a fucking good drummer..
@1:05
His drumming right here always gets me! Fucking sick rhythm! Franz Ferdinand practically reinvented rock n roll they are genius!
Clearly, pure energy
ggg
Those people who disliked this... WTF is your problem?
One of their best songs

Everyone who didnt like this mustve stopped listening before the first minute of the song, common mistake when listening to rock music.

He's a baritone. Baritones tend to be flat.
His voice was bad that day
Great song. Horrible performance.
