  • I decided to re-carpet my cats' scratching post rather than buy a new one. If you've ever thought about doing this, you can learn from my mistakes. And believe me, I made some.

I’m *soooo* glad I decided to watch these before actually trying to take the carpet off my tree

Good job and thank you for convincing me not to do this. I'm exhausted just watching this. : )

Thank you for doing this! I was thinking about doing this to one of my cat forts and now I know I do not want to.

I'll give you credit for doing such a tough job! What cat lovers do for their cats...
I'm in the process of building my own cat tree from scratch.

Okay, after seeing this I'm rethinking how hard this will be. I didn't realize that there would be so much carpet glue. I also think I'll wait until spring so I can do this outside. I have a couple of other thoughts about tools. I wonder if my oscillating tool would work to cut the carpet. I have a staple gun like she does but I also have a cordless nail gun that I think would work to fasten the corners. The staple gun seems like it doesn't have enough oomph for that part. Thanks so much for sharing. It should save me at least a little time and heartache. The one bad thing is that my two cats are indoor only so when I do this I won't have my team of inspectors to help.

Thank you so much for your tutorial! My kitty condo is 10 years old and has seen its better days but it's far sturdier than what I've seen as replacements.
Time to buy a staple gun and some carpet remnants. I, too, think that berber is the way to go!

Awesome video but it seems like a lot of hard work. I have arthritis on one of my hands so this project is off my list. I do love your efforts 🙌♥️👏

I'm glad I have just a smaller cat tree with three 20 inch posts that I want to cover. I think I'm going to try covering it with heavy upholstery fabric with some padding under it. I'm getting tired of all the little pieces of yarn that comes off the carpeting when they use it. So far I've only hot glued new sisal rope onto two of the posts that had rope on them before. There are two triangle shaped pieces of wood on the ends that have carpet on them that are all shredded. I might do a video of my redo.

ROFL! It's a fortress that's been through too many sieges.
I redo mine by wrapping sisal rope around the torn parts.

Wouldn't an upholstery shop be cheaper than a new one? i'm looking into that.

    I think I'm in love.
    1) She likes to do home improvement stuff
    2) She likes to save money
    3) She likes animals
    4) She has a kind of plain sexiness to her. No makeup, frizzy hair, slim build, tight shirt.
This is my kind of woman.

Would have been easier if you had taken the post components apart.
