    You sure as hell know what your doing. I retired last June after having spent my career having my own remodeling business. Your skills so impress me, I wish I lived close enough to carry your tool box for a couple of weeks. You are a great example for the remodeling industry....I would have enjoyed learning from you.

      Why are you watching the you tube channel of a person you describe as a "punk ass 20 year old illegal"? You "sir" I suspect are one of "my lazy ass union card carrying brothers" who spent his career hiding behind the union shield and doing minimal sub-standard work. It's too bad for you that industrious young men like Richard have started successful businesses, and have taken food off your table...you deserve it. Your post just shows what a backwoods uneducated person you are. If "our president" were smart, he'd find a spot on the other side of "the wall" for you too.....Oh, I don't believe Richard is an illegal alien, but if by chance he is, he would certainly be welcome in my community. And :YES I think I could learn carpentry skills from someone 40 years younger than I am. The only thing I would learn from you is more hatred....I think I'm about topped out. Finally, why is it all you haters have to say is done anonymously....it totally undermines what you write....all of you are chicken s@#t. Are you a girly man....stand up for yourself .... be proud of who you are...or did he forget to give you a pair of those?

    Dude, that's beautiful. I did one of those in a 100 year old house two years ago, then the customer decided she wanted an opening for storage under the stairs. I built her a door into one panel with a push magnet catch. Just something to think of if you ever do another one of these. I'm really digging your use of MDF. I've used it before in office buildings and I love it on crown since it's a little more forgiving on wavy ceilings. But I am going to start pushing it more. One huge plus is it's smooth as glass right off the pallet. So much pre primed pine needs to be sanded, which takes up a lot of your valuable time. Keep rockin. I enjoy your channel, a lot.

    Just because this is the first time you did a raised panel wall on a rake doesn't mean you can't do it just means your brain is going to have to work a little harder to figure it out and do it right I respect a man who is willing to take on new challenges and takes pride in his work like you next one will be easier great video

  • @ronh9384
    @ronh9384 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Excellent work! I agree with your comment.... you do know what you are doing!!!
    I'm just a diy'er...... would have taken me 2 or 3 days to figure out the basic layout and then probably another 2-3 days to complete it. Or more.... It is my favorite as well! I think I might like to try this myself.
    Funny story....A buddy was trying to do something similar, but without the raised panels.
    HE USED VELCRO.... the double sided Velcro some people use to hang photo frames, to hold the boards in place while he figured out his spacing. I even offered to use my cad program to help out wth the layout but he wanted to do it himself. It didn't turn out to bad , but it would have definitely looked better they way you guys did it, with the raised panel look.and the way guys did the trim out around the raised panel... Wish I still lived in Texas..... would love to do an apprenticeship with you guys for a month or so 😊
    Maybe some day you can do a video on the formula for figuring out the layout. Thanks Richard.

    I like the way you're honest about that first mistake. I did the exact same thing the first time I did tile with an inlay. I ended up having to air chisel out a bunch of my own work to do it over. Your stiles are exactly like the inlay in a tile floor. For anybody interested, the trick is to cut and lay the tile "as if" the inlay was not there. Otherwise your grout lines will not align. Same as when these stiles didn't align in his first attempt.
    Great looking wall too btw.

    I think what you're saying is the transition angle at the bottom MUST look right from the right side. That kinda dictates how all the other sections of rectangles look. Then you worked backwards. I think you were lucky that right side transition angle hit where it did because you were able to get all the rest of the rails perfectly fitted. I also think choosing the perfect width of rails helped a lot in getting the perfect spacing. Good job figuring it all out. Where can I find the exact raised panels? I have the exact kind of wall that I'd like to measure off to do this. Thanks for responding.

    so, quick question Richard, when you install those raised panel inserts, I'm assuming you use PL and brads to tack to the wall ... but how would you secure the panel to the wall with more than just PL if there's no studs and just drywall to shoot into?
