If you're running low on food ALWAYS have someone gathering foods, perferably two people doing it. It will save you. Regarding the workers taking things to the barn / warehouse BEFORE taking them to destination, I think it's done that way because it would be easier to poll the storage object for its inventory and a destination object for how many are needed, than to poll every "worker object" for its inventory and current destination.
Shame this game never got finished. it was great. You should use the small footprints mods it allows to blend building into each other which works great when building castles and walls.

Well it is a bit a struggle, specially in the beginning. What you could try is play the game and watch one of the playthroughs (like mine) at the same time and try to follow along. That way you see what happens and what is prioritized at certain times. That is usually the best way to learn it. Once that goes well, you can try to variate a little from that and see if small changes work too. I've found that it is a good way to get started and learn how it works with a no houses start.
Haha. Right now Life is Feudal would still win. Then a tie between Farthest Frontier and Manor Lords, since they both need so much work to start living up to their promises.
Basically as long as you enough food and material to heat homes (firewood, charcoal), you'll be fine for a number of years. I'm not good at this game AT ALL and I'm into my 13th season, with catastrophies turned on. Had the same house burn 3 different years, and the third house I built has burnt once. Had a child die at birth, the founding father died of hypothermia while chopping down a tree.
If you mean, Its just you building this town, that is the whole point of the game. There are no other players or anything in the game. There are some raids but they are rare and very easy. Its just you controlling your people and building a town.
