I like the fact that this game is stripped down - it's back to old school dodging instead of the whole hyper cancelling thing going on in DaiFukkatsu. Rock hard though. Picked up the 360 port of this - has some nice features.
I'm playing at normal Rank2 difficulty level in case there is any confusion with people watching this video. In playing with difficulty levels in the past though on most Cave boards it barely makes any noticeable difference switching to Easy.
There are lots of modes, alternate characters and second loops left to do but I think I have at least 1 all stage clear of everything but Dangun and Espgaluda 2 so far. I haven't tried clearing those yet. Also Deathsmiles 2, my board set is (of course) broken so I don't know if I'll ever get to clear that one.
Saidaioujou definitely tones down the scoring and the chaining, but exchange for absolutely brutal difficulty (lots harder than Daioujou in terms of end game bosses)
Some of the mini bosses and bosses look reused from their older games... The bullet patterns look the same or near enough the same. I've always wondered, why don't you get any bonus points for grazing bullets in any dodonpachi or CAVE game? In most shmups you get bonus points for grazing bullets.
Wish this would come to steam... Resurrection did. This is the only Donpachi I have not gotten to play. This is the only one not available on MAME. Well DS IIX and Akai Katana as well.
Not really but Ketsui just came out for PS3 if you are unfamiliar with that. Japan or Asia region X360 is the console to own for playing Cave titles though. This game is being released in 3 days for X360.
I don't know why it took me so long to notice this, but many of the bosses look so..., calming. I don't know how else to say it. The bullet patterns, the speed of the bullets, the bosses themselves. I guess it's just the drugs speaking, or that I've played too much Mushi God-Mode under emulation, but I'm just saying.
CAVE PCB that would be so awesome! There is so much I‘m trying to decifer via google texttranslation... but the spoken comments will remain a mistery ...🙏🖤
Why stop using laser at the end of the level 2 boss? Combo dropped from 6000+ to 4200. Sure, there were only a few more hits...or is it just for maneuverability?
This is one of the Cave games that still has never come out on MAME along with Deathsmiles 2 and Akai Katana. Piss me Off as I am crippled poor ass bloke who cannot afford a pcb and all that stuff wish it would come out on steam. I guess I could import but that is expensive as well. There may be some on ebay though I may take a look. I HATE the 360 analog stick for these shmups though....
Akai is already available in Mame (great game). This will be as well, though it seems the people that have the dump have turn it it in some sort of ego war not to make it public.

A lot of replays have that effect on me. The feeling is much different when you are actually playing though, unless it's something like Deathsmiles.
It's a shame that will have these games in America. Seriously cave does some awesome arcade games

I don't see the hit counter there in the video but I'm sure it would have been for maneuverability.
It's hard to say what I will feel like playing over the next few weeks/months. I'm not actively playing it at the moment. I would say probably not.
