The coal industry still has an important role in the economy and to keep people in jobs. The problem is the scale in which it is burned which causes so much pollution. Coal-fired power stations are the biggest users of coal, they ought to gradually change to solar or wind power generation. Burning a little coal at home in the countryside won't do much harm.

    • @johnhutchinson2981

Actually it is the other way round. China has opted to bypass Australian coal and buy the cheaper poorer grade coal. Coal is now bring record prices and the demand shows no sign of slackening. Australian coal mainly goes to japan and India. Climate change is a hoax and unfortunately governments are subsidising renewable energy systems which is costing taxpayers a lot of money.
